You can also brush/spunge mdf in with thinner. Once dry it will take pain t like a champ

Awesome. It's been a while and they've held up pretty well tbh. There is more you can do to them, but this a real easy way to get them to a decent standard, then you can add extras if you wanted to. 😀 get it done. 👊

Love me some of that Poundland spray! Used loads of it for my Sector Mechanicus stuff. Unfortunately I think the MDF here looks a little flat with that grey colour. Though it wouldn't take much work to make it pop a little. Maybe put some hairspray and salt on before the grey topcoat to get some nice paint chip weathering? Or dry sponge some black here and there along some edges and corners? Or even just some fast and rough drybrushing with silver and orange on the edges to get some worn/rusty metal looks going on? Either way, another hour of work for this much terrain would make it really stand out, rather than seeming so flat and muted. And yes, yellow and black hazard tape would really bring this alive - I've been adding it to my Mechanicus terrain, and even just a few pieces here and there really add that little bit extra.

Hey, great suggestions. I think any of those ideas would really make this pop. As it is, it is certainly usable, but I will be putting it onto a board build, so you will see it again, with added details. :) I'm thinking i'll glue some little lights onto it and spray them with an OSL Red or yellow, weather and chip it up (as you said, lots of rust and silver - weathering powders), and stick a few extra details on. I might do a video on it, just so people can see different techniques.. all fast and easy of course. :)

@@BroadswordWargaming Yeah, a follow up vid(s) to show what another hour or two of work can do to take it from "flat MDF" to "dayum son, that looks dope!". That's part of the reason I love rattle can painting terrain so much. For a few minutes work you get basic painted terrain that does the job. Chuck on some washes, some drybrushing, and some weathering, and it suddenly stops looking like a basic "that'll do" job and starts looking like a centrepiece. Can't wait to see what you and/or Luke come up with

Not a problem, glad it'll help. Just do this with it, and then add some extra details if you like, maybe some weathering powders.. but it looks perfectly fine after a few cheap spray cans! :)

The sets themselves aren't too impressive however you could easily add a load of gubbins and make them way more visually interesting and considering how cheap they are relative to GW I think it would be worth the extra effort.

Definitely. They're relatively plain, but add in some extras, they're good value. Pretty quick job too. 😀

Graffiti, faux weathering or rust, maybe some posters made from printed out images from Google that are glued to walls. A few simple touches here and there could work wonders.

Hey! No, there was almost no cleaning off. I don't think we actually did any at all and it still slotted together perfectly. :)

Hey, no, the spray can is good for sealing. 😁 I've got it here, 8 months on, and it's not warped. Just a cheap rattle can will do the trick. 😀

Hey! Thanks so much. I'm quite happy with the result. I'll likely do a little more to it in another video too. I just used cheap sprays from the poundshop (I'm in Ireland so the equivalent), absolutely fine and just the same as gw stuff. Eeeeeasy terrain.

Yeah as soon as I saw your face I remembered Luke back garden and that board he made for you that you ruined and asked him to fix - so seeing you I thought I wonder where Luke is and then there and behold he arrived late as usual, probably been down the offy and got lost! Yeah looks okay but it's just MDF ........

Ah the Gordan Ramsey versions of Luke.. I still haven't recovered from the abuse 😂 Yeah, it's just mdf, but looks pretty good the the time taken. I will do more to it one day, just to add to it.

How come you didn't undercoat the pieces before assembling them, so you could easily reach all the corners? Other than that, this is a good look pile of tabletop clutter. I like the post apocalyptic backdrop to your set.

Hey, I actually sprayed all the separate, modular, bits on their own after. The bigger bits don't come apart (or I can't see myself taking them apart), so it gave it a more finished look when it came to highlighting it with the cans, rather than individual peices put together (if you know what I mean). Oh, and for speed for the video haha. 🤣
