Fantastic video! Loved the throwback to I Love Toy Trains where the shed shakes. Some fantastic shots of the Vandy going through its paces.

Very impressive looking model of the Commodore Vanderbilt locomotive, I enjoyed the shot of the Commodore Vanderbilt engine running alongside the non streamlined Hudson locomotive. I really enjoy seeing footage of steam locomotives in operation & sometimes I really wish that I modeled the steam era so that I could purchase more steam engines, excellent video- Tom.

Thanks for watching! I've got another video showcasing the later version of the Vanderbilt as well if interested!

This one belonged to another club member, my engine is still en route thanks to a shipping mix up.

Thanks for the whistle samples. They aren't ESU or TCS level, but they aren’t garbage either.
@SCL3618 Жыл бұрын
They're good for 6 chimes, honestly hold up decently compared to both options. Neither currently have a dead on NYC 6 listed, closest for ESU is one from the Lok Select days, TCS has a couple that come close though.

@@SCL3618 I would like to see someone replace the speaker in one of these with a 1931 Tang Band module. That would sound even better. Thinking of doing it myself, but I’m and O scale modeler. Wish I could make myself like HO more, but especially with steam engines they just don’t do it for me. Having really good sound helps. When ScaleTrains releases the ex-MTH steam with LokSound and smoke units I may change my mind though.

Make another one about the empire state express ... It's my favourite train .... Videos about it's so hard to found it
@SCL3618 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately those are tricky to come across, only MTH has done them recently in HO, and I don't have the set on hand. Chances are you'll see Scaletrains release the tooling, but that's a few years out.

Thank you for making this video. I've notice this on other BLI steam. When the loco starts to move, the "chuff" sound almost sounds like the file is playing in reverse (and the chuff itself sounds like digitally created white noise, not an actually recording of a real locomotive). Is the shell plastic? I hope BLI has fixed the problem of the smoke generator melting the plastic.
@SCL36184 ай бұрын
@johnhermanson5249 Thanks for watching! Engine and tender shells are all diecast, smoke unit won't be an issue for this engine. Most decoders either go the generated route or mix in some live steam sounds- since you can only feasibly record live steam up to a certain speed/chuff cadence.

What's the point of this video? Are you trying to make me buy another $400+ model I don't need, for a railroad I don't model, using rolling stock I don't have? Because it's working.
@SCL3618 Жыл бұрын
It's a neat engine! The review video market is already saturated on this one, figured I'd hit the area that's skimmed over- playing with the functions and actually letting it run!
