Kimblee is straght-up too crazy to go crazy. I love that he's a psychopath, but he's a man of principle, so he can't just let Pride go back on everything that makes Pride what he is. And come on "If you think that, then you still don't understand Edward Elric" is such a good line - Like I said, Kimblee is a man of principle, and he can respect that Ed is too. In fact Ed is doing exactly what Kimblee is berating Pride for NOT doing: Sticking to his principles/beliefs

What I love about Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is that every character from beginning to end is perfect. All the characters have been given an ending that suits them. Some things seem very contrived for the plot, like Ed turning into a philosopher stone to defeat Pride, which can be criticized, but FMAB is the perfect anime when it comes to being carried away throughout the entire story. I've never heard of anyone wishing for a character or the story to end differently.
@bari27992 жыл бұрын
and honestly we’ve seen Ed play around with this concept twice before. Once when he had to escape Gluttony’s stomach and then again when he had to use his own life force to heal himself
@bari27992 жыл бұрын
so even that concept is somewhat consistent to the story and not too big of a contrivance
@ThisHandleSystemCanGetNicked2 жыл бұрын
@@bari2799 I mean, it still is. how does one turn themself into a Philosopher's Stone without sacrificing another soul? Father had to sacrifice all of Xerexes, but Ed does it just because he has to with nothing at all? Come on.
@Kayta-Linda2 жыл бұрын
@@ThisHandleSystemCanGetNicked I don’t think that’s in any way the same. It’s more like Ed used his soul, not the body, to find Pride’s core soul and pull it out. That doesn’t make him literally a Philosopher’s Stone. Or, rather, it kinda does, but in the same way as before: “I’m a Philosopher’s Stone powered by a single soul”. So he just figured out how to access and properly use a soul during all those times.

One thing I love about the fight between scar and bradley is that earlier in the show during the Ishval rebellion, he mocks the leaders saying if there is a god then it would strike him down dead. Nothing happens then, but if you recall that the union of the sun and moon is alluded to being "god", and the moving of the eclipse is what causes bradley to die right as he claims there is no god. Poetic justice. I've been waiting for this episode.

It still shakes me to my very soul that even with Bradley not being in his prime, the “Good Guys™️” still needed LITERAL DIVINE INTERVENTION to beat him. Holy shit.

@@dohalimilqarasdeldemenanci8483 Everyone Lost because of plot😂 pride's defeat makes perfectly sense
@revenge32652 жыл бұрын
@@dohalimilqarasdeldemenanci8483 Firstly, "only lost because of plot" makes absolutely no sense. Everyone wins or loses "because of plot" Secondly, it's literally already established that Pride was significantly weakened to the point where his vessel was just crumbling and he couldn't maintain it without the use of another compatible vessel. (Episode 63 spoiler) Thirdly, Kimblee already laid his intentions out as clear as day. He would remain neutral and didn't care for which side prevailed, as long as they kept to their ideals because Kimblee despises those who don't. Pride threw away his ideals, his *pride* for his own survival. He did the very thing he said he wouldn't do and thus Kimblee said "fuck you, I'm not letting you". Had Pride gone for the kill, Kimblee would've simply sat back to watch. Lastly, it makes complete sense beyond just reasoning on why he died like that when we look at how every sin was defeated. Lust died to an notorious "womanizer" (Mustang) right after she said she would never kneel to him. Gluttony died by having his innocence betrayed and literally eaten. Envy kills himself feeling envious of the supposed "lowly humans" and feeling hatred of his true form. Sloth died by over working and overexerting himself, wearing out his stone. Wrath died a peaceful death with a smile on his face, thinking about the things he was happy about. Greed died by sacrificing all his dreams and even himself to give his friends something, a chance to finally defeat his power hungry "Father". And of course, Pride was defeated trying to throw away the very thing he "prided" himself in, being turned into an helpless baby of the creatures he looks down on. Pretty much every sin either dies performing their sin or is killed by someone who can represent their sin. Hell, it's goes *deeper* than that. Their deaths are ALSO inspired by the divine comedy. The Lustful are purified by walls of flame (Mustang frying Lust), the Envious had their eyelids permanently shut (Mustang burning out Envy's eyes several times), the Indolent are forced to constantly be active (Sloth was forced to dig those tunnels for several years and even died overexerting himself), the Gluttonous are devoured by Cerberus (Cerberus is often the strongest guardian of the underworld which matches with Pride being the strongest out of the sins AND eating him. Cerberus is also depicted as a shadowy demonic looking dog with several heads which fits with the fact that Pride has all those eyeballs and even had a double head thing going on at the end. Cerberus also devours souls and Pride is the only one other than Greed who has an explicitly visually matching design with the realm of truth/God which looks like two different but very popular depictions of the underworld), the Wrathful have their limbs ripped off their body (Bradley had him arm taken), the Prideful are forced to learn humility with the most common method being carrying large boulders (Several times Pride was made to look like a fool for being too arrogant and was also caught several times being trapped in a dome of rock, constantly getting humbled), and the Avaricious constantly have their bodies stolen (Greed before forced to switch bodies, trying to steal Father's body, and even dying when he went into Father's body for his sacrifice). Father also died after performing an action of every sin. He Lusted for an physical form and the ability to see the world. He showed his Envy of humanity, especially Van Hoinheim, about the ability to have families and created his own. He was an incredibly Arrogant man, constantly underestimating his enemies and completely ignoring the deaths of his allies. He let out his full Wrath before the final fight. He let's all of his "children" do the work as he sits on his throne in waiting, which many would consider Slothful. He literally stated that he would "devour" God, putting some of his Gluttony on display. And he showed his Greed for power, wanting to not only being strong but to also have everything and create anything by becoming God. And as an extra, it's fitting thay a man named "Father" would lose to the hands of the man who's blood he used to form himself anew (his father in a way), the son of said man, and to the son he created himself. So get outta here with that nonsense lmao.

Pride was denied the dignity of death unlike his siblings; instead, he was ironically humiliated by being forced to transform into his fragile and powerless form.

Plus, imo at least, the end of Pride/Salem's arc is symbolic in that he's going to be raised to be caring and selfless person instead of, well prideful. Considering how pride, unless in cases of mental issues(nature), is a learned behavior/character trait (nurture)
