@@Johnfisher12345 Within the first minute of the video, Brodie says that these are prices in Stubhub (most people know they are a reseller) and that the prices can go up and down. Regardless of actual ticket prices or resell ticket prices, $1200 is way too much for an A’s game at a minor league park for a regular season game. And yes, I assume the prices will drop eventually. All sfdko3291 said was that you could fly to and from NY and watch a game for that price. So there’s no need to act like everyone else is dumb and you are somehow superior.

We will see if those prices last very long. What is the attraction to go see them play other than saying you saw a major league team play in a minor league park? If the team plays poorly and the stadium gets as hot as you mentioned they will be lucky if they can even get the prices the minor league gets. The 10,000 attendance cap may not be necessary for most games if ever other than the first few games.

The seat prices will probably lower as sumpply/demand becomes more apparent, but this reminds me of an interesting paradox that played out when the NHL was in Atlanta. The less popular a sports team is, the fewer ads & sponsorships it attracts ... and the more of its income has to come from ticket sales! A team making bajillions in ad revenue can afford to offer stuff like dollar bleacher seats, midweek specials, etc. But a less financially secure team can't.

These tickets are outrageously expensive by baseball standards - I paid about $200 + fees for a very good, lower level seat just beyond third base for Saturday night's Yankees - Royals playoff game. Also note that there is no open, web based public sale of A's tickets by the A's; the website directs you to call them for season ticketing opportunities. I assume these tickets are being offered for sale by a few people who bought season tickets and are testing the waters. We'll have to wait until single tickets go on sale later to really get a sense of pricing - there's no doubt they will be higher than in Oakland due to the novelty factor and the much smaller seating capacity.

This makes sense. I mean you are getting to see the top athletes of the profession for the first time in Sac at a minor league park with super limited seating and not as much security or with the amenities one is accustomed to at a regular season game. This is basically a Spring Training game experience. Also, the Cubs have a HUGE following like the GIANTS Yanks Cards doyers mets. Pretty realistic

Single game tickets aren't even available yet so these are I'm guessing season ticket holders or someone with the means to buy tickets hoping to sell them to some idiot at a higher price? Wait til the entire season is available to the public to see how out of line prices are.

This is just due to hype right now. The resale tickets will quickly drop once the season starts and no one shows up. And more importantly, since they are not going to be selling out, why would anyone need resale tickets anyway? They'll just go to the team's website and buy direct.

Brodie: Interesting take on ticket revenue. Here's my thought: recently I looked up how much each team receives in revenue sharing and TV revenue before they even open the gates. If the numbers were correct, all teams except the top ten in salary could meet their salary obligations without selling a ticket! So, why do we still have to hear about small market teams not being able to compete or teams like the A's potential charging 4 or 5 times what other teams are charging for tickets? Thanks for your insights into this and other topics. A big fan of your videos.

The average cost to attend an MLB game does seem high. According to the internet, less than 40% of an MLB team's revenue comes from the gate/attendance. Perhaps if they lowered ticket prices it might increase their fan base more, which might increase their revenue in merchandising, cooperate sponsorships, and TV game packages.

Is coach prime now managing this team?? This is colorado football 2.0. Avg ticket for them Is about $200. If this was the coli with a new owner and higher payroll i would pay but nothing more than $100 a seat. This is the start of a downward spiral for the a's leaving oakland. Noones paying them prices to see a triple aaa team in a triple aaa park

You’re missing one very important point. You’re seeing re-sale prices. Meaning that ticket has already been sold. If someone won’t pay $500 re-sale, it’s already sold! Every game will be an official sell out. The market will do what it does for re-sale. They will start high. They will come down. But the original purchaser will use the ticket or it will be re-sold for what the market bears. Sacramento will support the heck out of the A’s in every. single. season, they’re in SAC.

Fair point. It will be disappointing if the sun doesn’t rise tomorrow as well. Every game will. Even when the River Cats began in the 90’e, quite a frenzy for even AAA. Sac Republic, minor league soccer. Ticket frenzy for a few years breaking minor league records. And again, that’s minor league stuff. The Kings at Arco sold out almost every game. The Kings, last year, did as well. Every game. The town is sports crazy. The re-sale ticket price angle is buzz worthy, for sure.

3:05 This was quickly glossed over, but the heat is going to be a MAJOR issue. You're 90+ degrees before noon in the dead of summer. I'm curious to see how the TV ratings fair if MLB schedules games with a 10am start time. Will advertisers pull their ads? Will NBC Sports cut their losses after a season? When will the Player's Union step in? Most people in Sac won't consider shelling out a mortgage payment for a baseball game. Sac is Kings territory

Heat had never been a problem in Texas with the MLB and the players association demanding to play Sunday afternoon games when the temperature was over 100 without a cloud in the sky... All us fans were suffering like Bugs Bunny in a Looney Tunes cartoon in the middle of a desert... The fans demanded evening games, not afternoon games.... The players are paid far too much, they can get home at 5 am and sleep on the plane...
