As a veteran of TV production and engineering, I appreciate the work you’ve put in make this channel look like a million bucks. It looks and sounds better than a lot of (or even most) local TV production, and seriously competes with the networks. Can you share the make and model of your main camera? The color quality is outstanding! It helps that your lighting looks dynamite as well.

I watch everyone of these behind the scenes videos. For a basement production, it honestly looks like a remote TV studio. I hope you can build upon this and national news outlets can use you in your studio for guest commentary. I also agree that you are ahead of others on topics. Playing chess while they are playing checkers.

This is so fascinating in seeing how this type of video production works, and yet there is a lot to learn component wise. Even with the rapid pace of technology, it feels like we're in college and trying to grasp as much information as we can in a short period of time. And to see it all put together looks almost seamless, but as you mentioned a few times--practice indeed makes perfect. This goes also for podcasters who record not only with video, but with audio as well.

I first started following you near the middle of the baseball season (I think) talking about Oakland leaving. At the time, I thought you were a professional commentator, or radio news personality or something like that and this was your "real" studio and we could find you weekdays on KOAK AM780 or something (I live in NY so I don't know Cali stations). This insight into your home studio is fantastic.

Your audio and content are world class. I close down lots of KZbin videos because of annoying voices, annoying sounds (yeah, I'm speaking to KZbinrs that insist upon machine music in the background) and a general lack of professionalism in presentation. If your broadcasting career takes a dive, I'm sure you could make a killing installing home studios, hehe.

Wow, that was interesting! I think your setup is probably better that most tv station sports offices (if there is such a thing), and probably some of the network’s/ESPN’s sports offices that individuals use, if any. I got to take a tour of a network local affiliate tv studio when I was in high school, so I have some idea of how things used to be, and occasionally have watched clips of local weather people show their equipment. I think you are on par or even more advanced than most local weather people. As producer, director, reporter, and studio host for live interviews and discussions, I think you do an outstanding job. You have to stay up on stuff because sports events and news happen daily. Most KZbinrs have to respond to stuff after it happens. But individual news items happen infrequently even for hot stars like Taylor Swift, hot franchises like Star Wars, and so forth. Probably only video game YTers are as actively producing content as much as you. I hope that the Sharks prominently display your content or at least links, should your content become available here on the BB channel (oh, look, your own BBC 😂). And I really hope they let you continue the non-hockey sports and pop culture stuff. I can see they might not let you do stuff for the competition, as every other pro team in the Bay Area/NorCal is a rival business to your new employers, as would be any league except the NHL. Now, I’m sure minor league content of the Sharks and their affiliates, or other minor leagues related-content would be okay. (I haven’t heard what you’ll be allowed to do, nor what you expected to do, but I will be happy to devour all your Sharks content and anything else you end up making.) Thanks again for the very cool content and congrats once more! Good video!

You're such a geek, and thank goodness for that, because that's what makes the technical quality of your videos topnotch. Your content, on the other hand.... Nah, just kidding, your content is also excellent. I have one minor suggestion, but only if it could be done without much additional effort or post work. When showing the keynote graphic, it sometimes is a bit distracting to see all the points at once. I tend to want to read it all while you're talking, but then I'm not focusing on your dialog. I'm sure a lot of viewers prefer that, or don't care, but I'd prefer to have the bullet points revealed as you start to talk about a topic. Of course, that would mean having a chunk of empty screen space in the beginning, so perhaps you could show everything, but highlight current and previous discussion points, with future points greyed out slightly. Just a thought! Also, there is one thing that I kind of like, but am wondering if others are distracted by it. That is, the pretty VU meters bouncing about in the background. I think they add a bit of color and visual interest in an otherwise static setting, so I give them a thumbs up! I also use them to gauge my interest in your video. If I start staring at them and get hypnotized, I know it's time to watch something else. I'm happy to report that rarely happens!

Your show looks and sounds great. I’m kinda surprised as to the depth of field you’re getting from your main camera considering it’s such a small studio. What camera and lens are you using? What is your lighting setup?
@brodiebrazil
@brodiebrazil 22 күн бұрын
thanks for saying that! yeah the wall isn't too far behind me. using Canon 6D Mk2 (it's old and outdated, doesn't really have much color control or LUTS or painting ability). 50M f1.2 L lens so that's where I get the depth. Shooting at about f2.0 lately. it's key/fill mostly with 2 toplights, the splash below & behind me hitting the walls... and then of Course the Govee LED strips behind me
@markroberttaylor
@markroberttaylor 22 күн бұрын
@ your set really looks great. The 6D may be old, but it’s doing the job. And the lighting is perfect. But I agree. It may be the 50 mm 1.2 that’s giving you the extra production value, especially with such a small set. But that just goes to show that if you craft it, you can make anything look great. I really appreciated the peek behind the curtain on the set- a really interesting video. And of course I love your daily content and perspective on things. Well done!!
