After the overwhelming success of my intermediate F2L cases video (link down below) I knew that I had to make one for beginner F2L. So here you go: the most important beginner F2L tricks and F2L cases that you need to know. But please keep in mind that this is not an F2L tutorial. This video is meant to show you the cases and how to solve them, but is not meant to teach F2L as a whole. With that in mind, I still think that these are the best F2L algs for their respective cases, and they will be very helpful. If you want more F2L tips and tricks and so much more, make sure to subscribe!!

Thank you very much Brody this video is helping get a better understanding of F2L especially at the 6:08 minute mark of "hide the edge." And at 8:01 my brain just exploded because I have never seen an efficient display of a F2L case. I never knew on how to do F2L case properly. I have been cubing for well over 2 years and this tutorial made me remember the basics of cubing. Well back to practicing for me. Thanks again for all of your hard work and dedication on spreading knowledge to an old school cuber and the cubing community.

For case 8, it depends on the style of the cuber, but you can put the corner in the slot with U R U' R', then do a U and that sets up to a double sexy insert. It's a few more moves but it can be executed quickly and it's easy on the look ahead.
@BrodytheCuber
@BrodytheCuber 6 жыл бұрын
yeah that can work too, but for some reason that's less common than the other solutions I showed. I recommend doing solution #1 when possible, but the other two and the one you mentioned are all interchangeable

These are great videos and I take an occasional screen shot of a new algorithm to help me memorize. I wanted to add a little something to learning how to look ahead doing F2L. Recently I became quite interested in solving a 3 x 3 with one hand. Obviously it really slowed me down but because I knew how to solve with 2 hands it helped me look through my moves and solve faster.

@@BrodytheCuber I think it gives enough, since you say things like "hide the corner" or "hide the edge" and you go slow to really make it clear what you're doing. Some tutorials only give the algorithm on screen and perform it unclearly with no extra detail.

Regarding unsolving a solved pair, I reckon one should avoid doing the moves that unsolve a corner and edge pair. If you're solving the cube, you only want to do the case that solves the indicated edges and corners of the cube properly. KZbinr J Perm has a J Perm video on his channel, that, oddly enough, will solve any pair without scrambling the cube. There's a video on his channel on how he solves a Rubik's Cube using only the J Perm variants of cube rotations.

Brody, I know a lot of algs, maybe 100, I solve roux so maybe you can help me but I could still use your tips, I am Slow, really slow. I average about 45 seconds but I do way more advanced things. I have looked at my solves and think that I have a crazy move count, i have seen people with way less moves and turn slower but are faster. It took me a while to realise that but now i have and do you have any tips apart from Practice. I have been solving like 6 months now and can solve 2x2, 2x2x4, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 6x6, void cube, armadillo cube and so on. Should I focus more on move count instead of speed?

Using F moves usually requires regrips which significantly slows down the solve. You might not turn fast enough to realize it now but when you do, you will regret committing bad habits to muscle memory. Use R and U moves over F moves whenever possible.
