Broke Out the 483 New Idea to bale some small rough fields! Still a good machine!

Using my old hay baler for the first time this season. I sure like this little baler. Also raking with the Farmtrac 60 and New Holland Procart 819.

We use to have a new idea square bailer a long time ago it worked perfectly every time.

I run a 484, It does a good job, perfect for my operation, although I have never been able to accomplish the 40 bales /hour that the manual says is capacity.

That "old new idea" sure seems to make a nice tight bale. Probably a good idea to get it out and run it once in a while. always good to have back up hay equip. Im guessing the silver Ford is your dads? My second cut is ready to go, just cant catch a break on the weather no sun in the forcast for about two weeks!

Yea that’s Dad’s truck. I had broke the shaft out of a roller last fall and hadn’t tried it out since repairing it. Everything went good! Hopefully you can get your hay cut soon. I may do some in a couple weeks. Thanks for watching!

I have the 4844 version of that baler with net wrap and I really like it, don't matter what it is brush, 2x4s it will bale it haha and that net wrap makes it fast to tie, only thing I don't like about it is the power it pulls to run it

To make a good bale it takes horsepower to roll it tight on these. I had a 484 with a gear reducer on it that worked nicely for lower horsepower tractors. Thanks for watching!

That bailer looks like it’s doing a good job. Do you have hog damage at your location? The hogs make it difficult to bail a lot of pastures here.

Ben, I may not need any help with welding, But i have never baled and hay, and since i sold all the cattle, seems a waste just bush Hogging my pastures, I was thinking mini square bales, the largest tractor we have now is a Kubota MX5100 , Any Thoughts or Ideas for my pastures? 🚜🪵👍🏼🇱🇷

Your tractor would handle a square baler or even a small round baler like a 1743 Massey Ferguson. Also I’d recommend a drum mower for your size tractor. It maybe worth looking into, that way you could get eventually start making some money from the hay instead of just mowing it down.

It’s a true 4x4 bale. Most people don’t put enough hay in these soft core balers and they squat after setting. If you notice I keep going even after the beeper goes off to cram more hay in. Thanks for watching!
