Here in the UK the top 3 ever are often quoted as being Pele, Maradona and Messi. Brazil is known for being the best national side in history. They've had great players but most of the Brazilians rate Pele as their best. The downside for Pele is he always played in the Brazilian league. Maradona was a flawed genius, think his best was better than Messi best, he was certainly feared by opponents more than Messi but he was unreliable and his personal issues meant his very best only lasted a few seasons. Messi's claims to fame is more about longevity and consistency, almost 15 years being known as either the best or one of the best in the world based on that seasons performances. Messi is small (like Maradona) but they both had a low centre of gravity, superb balance and quick feet, so they actually have a big advantage over the bigger athletes they come up against.

as a Messi fan, i still can't put either Ronaldo or Messi above the other, i think they're just as good as eachother, just they're different type of players who play differently and at different positions, Ronaldo is the ultimate athlete, Messi have the best agility and balance ever in football, Ronaldo is more of a goal scorer and Messi a passer, Ronaldo is more about flashy dribble moves, Messi just perfected running with the ball, etc...

Building a team around Ronaldo wouldn't work at all. He needs a team who creates chances for him. Messi is a playmaker, he controls the game and is involved in every attack from building up attacks with his dribblings, throughballs and keypasses, creating chances, assisting and scoring.

#MewigLlama minute 6:01 exaclty you siad if you blink you miss it. That exact goal was explained by Thiery Henry (one od the greats). If you look closely and in extra slow motion, you will see that Messi passes the ball to himself to the same foot. That is that somehow, he touches the ball at lighting speed from the right side of his left foot to left side of the SAME FOOT, then he passes back for a third time to his right foot(his weaker foot) and shoots. I don't know if that makes sense, and the ball flies straight horizontally !! The player that explained this said anyone that would try this would fall on the floor. Impossible to even try.

OK FYI for any beginners, PENALDO is a great striker and goal scorer, only can pay as forward. Messi will dribble entire teams with no help and walk in with the ball without needing even to shoot and if he shoots he just defies physics, Messi has more goals outside of the box than Penaldo and Messi can play in ANY position in the field. Every pro says he is the beat in history, no one says that about Penaldo.

Ronaldo has the understanding, of where to stand, and how to hold his foot, so that the incoming assist lands in the goal (most of his goals are like that, tap-ins, very unimpressive and boring, ghosting 99% of the time, just to pop-up where it´s most dangerous, aa soon as the defence has long forgotten that he even exists). a giant of headers, and one of the strongest shooters from afar, but not really accurate... So, he checks 3 boxes, and all have to do with scoring, which makes him nevertheless stand out, in all his mediocrity. Messi checks hundreds of boxes, as the best of all, where Ronaldo is just mediocre... For example, you don´t want to watch Ronaldo trying to dribble, it´s pure cringe... Whe the carrer of those 2 begun, I didn´t watch football, but some friends told me, that those 2 young player bring lots of movement in the game. I came to watch Ronaldo, just to be utterly dissapointed by the lack of any technicality, and didn´t even bother to watch Messi. Some years later, I saw Messi for the first time, and since that day, I blame it on Ronaldo, being so talent-free, that I missed some of Messi´s best years... :-( Ronaldo would have been a great athlete in many sports, but football isn´t even his specialty.
