Just got my braces last night. I had overbite and after kinda 5 hours later one of my lower bracket broke cause of my upper teeth. Nobody ever says anything about brackets not adhering well to crowns. I was flossing and one of the top back brackets came off the crown, this after only having the braces for exactly a week. This also happened on the same tooth a few hours a week ago when I got the new braces. So in my case it wasn't eating anything that caused it. It was flossing. Next appointment isn't until October 2 and the wire isn't rubbing so I'm gonna try and wait until then to have this repaired AGAIN. also going to change up how I floss. And by the way, I'm 60 years old and just got braces lol

I have an important question. Say the very last bracket in the back of your mouth is loose on the tooth but still on the wire, will that delay treatment even though the bracket is on the very end?

my bracket just got fixed 2 days ago for breaking off after one of my top teeth kept hitting it, but now 2 days later i woke up and found that same bracket is broken. I didn’t even do anything and this will now be the third time this has happened. They even put rubber on the top part of my bracket to prevent me bite on it and i found it to be less helpful because it felt like every time i bit down softly on it, i was bending the wire.

I just had to pull one of my back brackets off the wire only 1 hour after getting that back bracket installed. I don't think my orthadonist applied it correctly because the bracket was only slightly on my tooth and it could easily fall off. It was sliding on the wire so I had to take it off myself. Next time you go in, have your Orthodontist give each bracket a good tug just to rule out bonding failure. Don't feel guilty either broken brackets are very common! Hope this helps!

Its pretty normal to have brackets come off - especially during the first month or two. As long as they are repaired you shouldn't have any significant delays.

Sometimes teeth have bonding issues due to the enamel quality - some enamel just doesn't bond as well as others. This is frustrating when it happens but unfortunately its something that happens from time to time.

if you get the bracket repaired before your next appointment this should not affect your treatment time. If you wait till your next appointment the tooth may shift or stay in the same place meaning they would have to drop down wire size or stay in the same wires when you should be advancing and this could delay your treatment time by one visit

@@loofilovegood I honestly booked an appointment to see the orthodontist cause I was super worried and I had no experience with braces before so I didn’t know what to do and I’ve asked him if there was a specific reason as in why my bracket popped off considering I’ve been following all the instructions he’s given and he said that it’s completely normal for brackets to break when first getting your braces due to high force and pressure so don’t worry about it, really it’s completely normal and do not feel frustrated with it just make sure you follow all of the instructions your orthodontist recommended :)

I know this is months too late, but I’m going to tell you my experience in case anyone else has the same question. One of my brackets popped on the way home from getting them put on. I called them and they said to go ahead and come back and they put it back on. That night, I felt another one pop. I called them in the morning and they asked me if I could come back in that day. When they started working on it, they discovered that 4 others also popped off that night (all of the popped brackets were on the bottom). It was because the bonding didn’t set right. My teeth were likely not dry enough when they did the bottom ones and that caused them to pop off. I was told that it is very unusual for a bracket to pop off within a day or so after the putting them on unless there was an issue with the bonding. So, if this happens within the first day or so, know that it’s not normal and likely not something you did to cause it. You should call up your ortho and see if they want you to come in sooner rather than later.

Hello there! Great question, our best advice would need to chat with your orthodontist for more information. More than likely they will examine your bite and potentially put bite turbos on. This will allow you not to cleannch your teeth and potentially break off more brackets.
