Not really, the term "Bug", in the context of computers, exists because Ada Lovelace discovered a roach on the circuit board of a computer shorting it out and causing weirdness.

That’s where the term debugging comes from

@@GMMilambar it was a pun, take it at face value. Also the version I heard of the story it was a moth that got caught in the terminals of an open mechanical switching relay which made up the logic of the computer. Honestly not sure if it really happened or whether it's just a sort of urban legend that morphed over time to explain the term "bug" in context of computing.

Magic erasers are abrasive and tend to dull the finish if you press too hard. They are great for getting stubborn stains out, but they will cause a change to the visual texture of the plastic. On darker plastics (not just black, I mean anything that is c64 tan or darker), test an inconspicous area first. If you get a light sheen from microscratches then you can heat polish it to reduce the effect but I've never been able to eliminate it completely. If you are using it lightly, such that the spongy part of the magic eraser is still wide/expanded then it should be fine. If you are scrubbing with your fingers hard enough to crush the magic eraser flat then it will mar the finish.

Yeah, even on white they'll leave scuffs you can see with the naked eye plain as day. They might not show up on camera but they are blatant in person. It's one of those pick your poison things, do you want a black smudge/scuff or do you want a faded smudge that's still visible.

Definitely misled there. What if it was bad enough to cause you to have an infestation yourself? Oftentimes cleaning companies won’t clean a house if there’s an infestation due to risk of infecting other homes. It’s the same principal here. Thankfully there was nothing live within the console.

Kinda of topic but there’s a video called “a ps3 story: the yellow light of death” and it goes into great detail how to properly diagnose a YLOD ps3. I just wanted to share because it does great job at acknowledging there’s not a single solution for each console stuck in POST. It encourages repair technicians to properly diagnose the issue before repairing components at random in hopes that it will work. It’s an interesting watch and would probably be a good reaction video idea.😊

Nothing like getting an old roach motel. Also there's certain times you don't want to use a magic eraser and that's on like shiny plastic surfaces because it's technically an abrasive and it will leave the surface dull. It can also damage lightly textured surfaces and leave them dull. What you used it on here was the perfect use case though.

No you were not ripped off. Mislead maybe, but not ripped off. Gotta say though I am amazed that the used market in the USA is still commanding such high prices for used and refurbished units considering that availability of new ones is a lot better now. New ones in the UK are no longer going for a premium and used/refurbed ones are generally anything between £50-£100 less than RRP.

So one tiny hdmi pin was not soldered on. But would have caused problems with the liquid metal clean spot. On intense games it would have overheated. I would clean every single drop of cockroach poop out of it and sanitized the whole thing making it pristine. One would have to open the power supply and discharge every capacitor to make sure no voltage was left and unlike Steve I would clean the power supply inside until spotless. Dust and dirt left in the power supply is not fair to the customer.

Yes you were misled about the bugs, BUT MAYBE they didn't find any bug in it when they took it apart and they had no idea that all the remnants that you found were from roaches.... IDK really tho, I never dealt with roaches in a console

Hi, Since you fix so many Ps5, is it true about the current rumor about liquid metal might leak if it set on vertical position? Can you make a video about it? Thanks dude.

Hi! Can you make a video about the recent news about ps5's leaking liquid metal when stored vertically for a long time? Thanks!

Yes I agree but since you professionally cleaned it with surgical spirits = sterilized it, I don't think you'd need to re advertise roach infested and sell it for it's true value.
