Gojo had enough power to defeat Toji , but the only thing that was stopping him was that he did not pursued shamanism that seriously and put effort into refining his limitless CT and his overconfidence. And if you read the manga it was pretty clear that after unleashing hollow purple, Toji was helpless. he may have allowed it to happen but even if he did take the fight seriously , awakened Gojo would still whoop his ass.

Heavenly Restriction is strikingly similar to the law of equivalent exchange in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Its because both of them revolve around the same concept of gaining something by sacrificing something else. Wow, heavenly restrictions are one of the most balanced and interesting powers in JJK to me.

I know you're only kidding, but to me this is the most obvious & simple explanation of what a Heavenly Pact/Restriction is. Think about it, Cursed Spirits are basically demons, therefore cursed energy/technique, and Sorcery in itself (whether it's used for good or evil is irrelevant, God specifically and often forbids humans from dabbling with black magic, because it is power syphoned from demons. Which comes at a cost of ones Soul just as does ANY deal with the devil. By contrast someone like Maki & Toji born with a Heavenly Pact, that they themselves didn't forge, can't use cursed energy even if they wanted to. Either an elder member of family, most likely a parent, forges this pact, with God, to prevent the damnation of their child... And as either a reward for sacrificing a traditional rite, for purity of the soul, or it's granted as a means of protection against zealous clan members, evil curse users, & cursed spirits...OR, they are blessed by God DIRECTLY: Either to be used as a divine instrument against evil Sorcerers and Curses, or simply to create a counter balance against sorcery, with miraculous speed, strength, stamina, and immunity to certain techniques and domain expansions. I know people will probably roll their eyes at this explanation, because it sounds "too Biblical" or whatever, but I'm using terms; like: "God, miraculous, divine, deal with the devil, & black magic" as a means of reference... Afterall any lore where evil entities exist that can possess & form pacts (AKA deals, or selling of the soul), with humans, must have a polar opposite supernatural force, and spiritual entity (Jujutsu Sorcerers don't count as they are utilizing cursed energy to fight evil). I guess the closest Entity to God in this series is Tengen, although I haven't read the Manga yet so I might be very wrong about that, so neither confirm nor deny lol).

@@sylph4252 That´s not what happened at all. Mai said that cursed energy in itself doesn´t differentiate between twins, so they share the cursed energy as one person. Mai took the majority of the cursed energy between the two and developed a technique. Maki got highteend physical capabilities in exchange for the cursed energy she would have had. This is why her restriction was fully relized when Mai died; she took all the cursed energy they shared with her. The Zenín clans had nothing to do with it.

@@sylph4252 we dont know that much about clan hierarchy. There is clearly a leader but it seems like the control is with more than just the leader. Zenin clan isn't part of the big three anymore due to consisting of 2 people. Gojo clan we know nothing about and the kamo clan cares about techniques as much or more than the zenin. A reset is coming yes but its not as straightforward as you put it. There are other powers aswell such as the teachers/headmasters and other potential influencial sorcerers.

Kinda. The big difference being is that Asta himself literally doesn't have any innate abilities. Unlike Toji who has superhuman strength as a result of the Heavenly Pact, Asta had to literally train very hard to be strong. And anti magic isn't something he himself possess, it's just a power that exists that he can wield without repercussions specifically because he is magic less.

Aizen couldn’t sense any reiatsu from him and when he couldn’t react to Ichigo yanking him to another location, Aizen thought that Ichigo converted all of his spiritual energy to enhance his physical attributes.

Maki and Mai were twins, unfortunately Mai died and in doing so reforged one of tojis weapons that was lost when he died to Gojo and we know that twins are really special in the jjk universe so my guess is that after Mai died makis heavenly restriction finalized allowing her to reach full potential and become the next toji

They were likely hoping it would be more similar to Mechamaru's case than Toji's. Rather than reduced cursed energy for phyiscal stats, they likely wanted her to have massive cursed energy and/or a powerful technique in exchange for her physical ability, or something else unstated This is pure conjecture but I think after Toji's birth, the zenin clan probably thought they could pull it off again. but instead of a massively superhuman body, a massively powerful curse power

I don’t really understand where he gets the idea that Maki or majority or even 10% of Heavenly Restrictions come from them being put on. They aren’t. Maki had a heavenly restriction at birth, but due her being a twin. Her soul was connected to Mai, who had cursed energy, and held back her heavenly restriction. Mai died, which separated the separation between there souls. Allowing Maki to now have no CE and fully realized Heavenly Restriction. No one put anything on her besides the laws of JJK

Now kenjaku directly told us that he prepped a lot of indoviduals to be more receptive to be vessels for powerful curses so to me the most likely answer is that he prepped yuji as an insanely powerful vessel.
