After one month's use of bromelain pineapple extract supplements, I'm back with my first update. Will it mean eye floaters no more for me? Tune in to find out.

My recommended other videos:

About this video:
Hi I'm optometrist Martin Oguzie and this is Martin's Eye Tips. In this video, I will give you my quick update after using bromelain every day for the last month. Check out my initial video on why I'm taking bromelain in the first place. However, here is a summary of the 4 reasons that I considered, before deciding to try bromelain pineapple extract for my eye floaters. The 4 reasons are:
1. It has a long history of therapeutic use in traditional and herbal medicine
2. Bromalin is a protein-digesting enzyme
3. Stem Bromelain can travel through cell membranes
4. Some research and anecdotal evidence suggesting benefit against floaters
I will report back periodically over the next 2 months to share my progress and address whether I end up with eye floaters no more.

For people interested, I’ve been using bromelain for the last 4 months. It’s definitely not a complete cure, but I do find that my floaters have become more translucent. I had a particularly dark floater in the bottom left of my vision that I could even see in dimly lit rooms. The floater is still there, but far less noticeable. The floaters haven’t changed much, I’ve got to say. But there has been enough change for me to recommend trying it out. I Personally intend to continue to use it.

@@jonslonkovsky1391 I agree, my experience could be a placebo! I still have floaters here four months later. I wouldn't say a lot has changed either, but I still do notice the difference. I'm quite myopic and have lattice degeneration. I first noticed my floaters at 14 (10 years ago now) and found the floaters really started to bug me when I turned 19. Up until I started taking bromelain it honestly just felt like they were getting worse and worse each year (I have quite a few). I'm pretty confident to say that they have gotten better, I'm currently living in an apartment with white walls and I don't mind opening the window. This would of been unheard of 2 years ago lol. Maybe I'm just wanting it to work and my brain is compensating. I also have a lot of floaters, so a small overall improvement might make a bigger difference than compared to someone with 5 or 6 floaters. I can't really say if it's all in my head, or the bromelain is actually working. But I'm certainly not lying when I say I've noticed a difference and I still intend to use it regardless lol.

I cured my floaters 100 percentage using following way in 4 months --- Most important - 3 big slices of pineapple 2times a day for 2 month then 1 slice for 1 time to avoid any side effects of pineapple overeating -- 1. Drink lots of water 2. Drink 1 glass of water before sleep & in between sleep if you awake drink water 3. Sleep for 9+ hours 1/2 + hour afternoon & sleep without pillow 4. Keep eyes always hydrated (not dry) use water to wash eye (6/7 times a day) to hydrate 5. Fasting (no food) one day per week.. fruit+water allowed 6. Don't squeeze or use fingers or any eye related exercise.. just keep natural eye movement. Should not give any stress on eye.. also don't cough to avoid eye pressure 7. Avoid tv/mobile/laptop as much possible 8. Add fruit in dailt - I eat 5 fruit everyday 9. Run for 15 minutes everyday 10. Take 1 spoon of ghee everyday

6 month update... I got rid of a few floaters but not all and it didn't restore my eyesight so I moved on and found this. I'm not sure how I found Clary Sage but it worked better than anything I've found! It's found at the health food stores. I dab my finger and rub the upper eyelid, not too much because it's a real irritant. You want the tiniest bit to enter the corner of your eye but not much. This took only days to give me profound effects. I'm not a doctor so you should ask them first but this worked great for me! God bless you all!

I’ve been eating 3 cups of fresh pineapple per day for 10 days. I can already notice perhaps a 10% change. They are more translucent. Very slightly so but I would know the difference since I’ve been looking at them for 15 years. I decided to go with a heavy load of pineapple because the study noted that the group that the most had the best results. So I’m eating even a little bit more than they did. The other night I went ahead and ate an entire small pineapple. It was so ripe and juicy I didn’t want to let it go bad! I have many, many floaters of all of the types. And on a sunny day or an overcast day and if I am looking at the water, my field of vision is pretty badly obscured. And no, I can still locate the one floater I first discovered some 15 years ago, so for me at least, they don’t just go away... and they don’t sink to the bottom. They are tethered, not truly floating. As if somebody ripped a bunch of curtains that are still attached to the curtain rod.

If you go on Facebook or Reddit eye floater groups, all you can find is countless people saying they've tried it, and that it's done absolutely nothing for them (after periods of 6-9 months.) Personally, I got a little disheartened when I found out that the study was funded by the Taiwanese government. And that Taiwan are the 6th biggest exporter of pineapples in the world.

Those flippin' pineapples cartels!!! A lot of companies fund research into their own products, that wouldn't immediately dishearten me or invalidate those results. Apple, Microsoft, BAE, Boeing- they all fund research into their own products. The important issue (in so far as one attempts to alleviate biasing the results of a test) is how far the distance is between the developers and testers. Also, how much they adhere to best practise in designing studies (i.e. controlled studies, appropriate sampling techniques and sizes...). Pharmaceuticals fund a lot of research into their products, usually with a disclaimer stating any conflicts of interest, it wouldn't be unusual. Of course, it's better if they don't - i.e. the best way to increase distance between the testers from developers is to have the funding of the developers seperate from those of the testers.
@meyetips
@meyetips 4 жыл бұрын
Good points Daryl. It is a big problem that affects all pharmaceuticals. I can understand why drug companies fund research into their own products; after all, who else would invest money into proving that their product works as claimed, when they have no commercial benefit in the results. The problem is that we will never hear about the research that results that completely go against their hopes because the plug gets pulled on the research and funds channelled into another attempt until a favourable result or something that a positive spin can be put on, is achieved. I’m guessing that this happens, I don’t actually have any evidence that it does. We do have to take many of these research findings with a healthy pinch of salt.

We also have no information as to what other food, drink, medicine, or lack there of the people in the controlled pineapple study ingested. Everyone should already know that a 60 day fruit-only cleanse might do wonders for the eyes for those strong enough to do that sort of thing. So far I’ve personally found that fasting with only purified water a couple days a week alongside sleeping at an incline of 6” helps. Please look into Inclined Bed Therapy (IBT) as sleeping inclined is another wonderful health remedy that helps the eyes as it allows the eyes to drain from toxins during rest.

Martin Oguzie Yes, after your previous video I also started bromelain in the same dosage as you have (brand: Life Extension). After a month‘s use I seem to be less bothered by my (many!) floaters. However I believe that that is not because the floaters condition itself is intrinsically improved, but because at the moment my brain seems better able to cope with them ( filtering them out). So I will keep taking the one tablet first thing in the morning for as long as I experience this subjective amelioration. At least until end of this month, when I have to decide on reordering.

Hi there, Martin. I saw an ophthalmologist a week ago because of eye floaters. He said there were "cavities" in the posterior vitreous and it was "mobile" do you know why this has happened to me at 23 years old? I fear my floaters are getting worse. Also the onset came on after a bout of anxiety
@meyetips
@meyetips 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Liam, sorry to hear you’re going through this. It sounds like your ophthalmologist is describing the fact that your vitreous is degenerating. This is supposed to be an age-related thing. Since starting my channel, I’m realising that there are so many young people getting floaters, which suggests that something else is going on. I have a theory on this. Your question has inspired me to plan a video on this real soon, I just need to do a little more research on it.

@@meyetips Hi Martin, yeah I'm reading so much that young people are getting this. I have 20/20 vision everything was perfect, but 2 months ago, I noticed one. Now I have about 5 in each eye. I'm at no risk (diabetes, short sighted, underlying health issues) I have none of these. I'm thinking anxiety had something to do with it. My ophthalmologist said not to worry though as it's nothing serious or sight threatening retinas were 100% ok. But I can't get over the mental side of knowing that my eyes aren't perfect anymore for no reason. I look forward to your research though! This is a major gap in the research

There is a vitrectomy and laser vitreolysis as surgical options (which have their pros and cons), other than that there is no guaranteed non-surgical cure at the moment. Some people report benefit from things like bromelain etc. That's why I'm testing such products out.

Sorry to hear that you’ve got floaters so young. Stay positive and discuss it with your parents or guardian. Bromelain is not a medically approved treatment for floaters, I’m trying it out based on other people’s experiences to see if there if I experience any improvements for myself.
