One. It doesn’t hurt them. It’s the equivalent to somebody tickling you, literally, they just naturally hate things being on there flanks. You can poke them with your finger and they tense up a lot of times. Two. They have the best lives of any horse. They don’t get rode but for maybe an hour or two a year, and they only do it for maybe a few years before they retire out to pasture and get fed the best feed and grass til they die of natural causes. Bucking stock like this is worth thousands of dollars. Way too much to let get hurt.

All pro bronc riders have to pay a fee to compete and that will vary from one competition to another. The bigger the winnings, the larger the fee.

Costs are high for cowboys competing in rodeos across the country. Over a year, entrance fees, fuel and caring for horses can add up to over 40,000 dollars for some of the top rodeo contenders. Jul 21, 2012
