Welcome to TEchi World Walk! Exploring Norwood neighborhoods via Jerome Ave to Bedford Park Blvd, Bainbridge Ave, and East Fordham Road. It is the last hurrah in this channel walk exploration for the calendar year 2023. However, it was a cloudy, drizzling day, and sometimes raining. Norwood Neighborhood
At the time of the Civil War, the area was Westchester County farmland on the border of West Farms and Yonkers. Chief property owners included the Valentine, Varian, and Bussing families. Woodlawn Cemetery was founded in 1863 to the north. Annexed to New York City in 1873 along with the rest of the West Bronx, the area's character shifted from rural to suburban by the turn of the 20th century. The neighborhood's streets in their present form were laid out in 1889 by Josiah Briggs between Middlebrook Parkway (renamed Mosholu Parkway) and Woodlawn Cemetery. Contemporary maps show it was considered part of Williamsbridge, which continues to share a post office. Williamsbridge Reservoir was opened in 1890, transforming the natural lake into an artery that served the New York City water supply system until no longer needed in 1934

Hello, I’m not into social media but I had to post here to tell you how much my son Ian, and I enjoy your videos. We always click on ‘like’ regardless if we post or not. ‘Techi’ has become a household name for us. My son and I have such fond memories of the Bronx. We moved to Pa in 1994. You allow for us, and many others, to relive some areas that are very familiar and it’s nice to venture into areas that aren’t so familiar. It’s still the Bronx! We’re very grateful for the work you do and I could tell it’s a passion of yours to actually do the leg work week after week!
