I’m a big empathetic baby who usually is to gullible, and will want to give ppl the benefit of the doubt; that being said her words and actions don’t match. Like I accidentally smacked my dog in the snout reaching to pet him and immediately started apologizing to him. Petting him, giving him treats. Making sure he knew it was an accident. I think most pet owners (who don’t suck) are like that. If you immediately know you’ve fcked up it shows in your actions. Her actions didn’t show this remorse she’s talking about. All the remorse seems to come from when she was called out. But bc I’m an empathetic big baby I hope this could be a learning experience for this chick. We all have fcked up, but growing from it requires you deal with the consequences without making excuses. It sucks, it’s not fun, but it’s the only way to move past the sht you’ve done wrong.

Honestly, the best empathetic take is that she needs to be required to go through therapy. She’s likely got unprocessed and unaddressed issues that are expressing in unhealthy ways, at the very least learning how to control anger. At the same time, her dog should be given to a loving home and she should be barred from owning pets in the future (something that is an actual sentence for animal abusers but isn’t given as much as it should be).

I’m 20 years old, my partner and I got a dog and then I got kicked out of my house because of my mum who is an alcoholic. I have been through shit this year but even though I have been through my partner and I still spoil the shit of my dog and do everything for her. Even when I was at my lowest looking at my dogs face and her wagging tail makes me happy and hopeful everyday. I would never hit my dog or anything. Life’s issues are no excuse to harm or cause distress to a dog.
