The queen did not say to give full sovereignty to the crown but they knew all along they were gonna breach the tiriti. When you bring ship loads of people from uk wanting to leave the disease ghetto slum of the uk and get promised land. How do you give these people what they want??? You take and also do dodgy deals and take land of Maori iwi. From 1860 to round 1940’s Maori went from 80% land to little as 10%. I’m pretty sure in the 2000’s Maori had 5 or 7%. That’s discraceful. @robinlecomte1242

I like the comment BUT - me thinks you need to review - [1] Spain as a colonizing Nation, Mexico would be a good example of what not to do also South America and Louisiana (America); [2] - France, oh dear, if you want good examples (again) of what not do - - (a) look at any land they set foot on, the ' dear natives ' did not fair so well, a recent example is New Caledonia. Le French work on the premise ' iron fist' - (b) - do you know that IF the French Govt had listened to those who had been to NZ in late 1838, a settlement was established (know where?) and had arrived with both Troops & People (so the conversation goes, from the historical past) - the South Island would have become a French Territory. If it had come to pass, Ngai Tahu would not have that bank A/c with funds from the good People of this Nation. Think - Rugby, why travel to France when they could have had a National team in the South. And Wine, wow - sorry I digress. Maori management of NZ going forward - look at South Africa under the African National Congress (ANC) and how it has progressed - down ward. And the English - they are now wondering where Labour will lead them.
