My mother and I went to the Stuhr museum in the fall many years ago. Saw Henry Fonda's boyhood home and that fantastic museum. They were getting ready for their Fall Harvest festival and we were a day early for that. The smell of baked apple pies in some of the old buildings was delicious. Thanks for bringing back memories of trips with my late beautiful mom.♥️

Born in that area of the country, I have so many childhood memories of the area, I have family in those parts. I have alot of repsect for the farmers growing all our food. I would never ever though want to go back and live there. Lifestyle and culture is not for me. And the winters are BRUTAL. The area is a very boring place to live. I remember as a kid I could not wait to get out, and when we moved to a small city 1000+ miles away, it was refreshing!

Hi Russ. Great tour video as usual. About your comment on why no one was smiling at the candy kitchen, I have always heard that in days gone by & early photography that people were encouraged to have "stern" look. Also in the second Bldg. that you went into I was intrigued by the old-timey bicycle as I have always been. It appears to me that riding one of those took some skill. Almost like riding a uni-cycle. Thank you again for the tour.

Great video. There is so much more history to see in Sioux City. Next time you come through, I would be happy to give you a proper tour! For those watching, be sure to visit the complex next door east to the riverboat museum. It is a fabulous collection of, as well as our downtown museum and art centers, all within a few blocks of downtown. Floyd’s gravesite is near the south end of town, overlooking the city and the river. It’s a remarkable place at sunset.

THAT WAS A GREAT VIDEO; I grew up in a small town (Hawarden, IA) brought back a ton of memories for me, I drove those same roads. Ever think that you are like Lewis & Clark sometimes? We now live near Dodge City, KS so we only get back 1 or 2 times a year. As a thank you for this video here are a couple of my old stomping ground places I think you would enjoy. Sioux Falls, SD (check out the falls & riverwalk); Okoboji, IA (check out the Iowa Great Lakes- where my wife is from), & where we will be moving to in the next few years Branson, MO (Retirement play ground). Thank again for the ride.

Hi Sir: I am a subscriber and find comfort, contentment and an amount of peace in watching your travels through "small towns USA'. I pray that you don't think I am being to forward to make the following sugestion: Please post in your "more" section any signage that: is too light for you/us to read, is too long for you to read out loud, too numerous for you to read, etc. etc. This would help me learn more and have a fuller armchair travel experience, and it may help someone else. Thank you for reading this suggestion and giving it your kind consideration. Now I got to get back to watching the show.

1:20:20. Corn in the midwest is usually harvested much later like October after it has died and dried out. Corn has to be dried before it can be stored so the later the farmer can wait, the less they have to pay to dry it

The next time you travel across Nebraska you need to take the southern highway. (US 6). It will take you directly through the two biggest cities of Lincoln and Omaha but it is well worth seeing the small towns south of I-80. Minden, NE has a great museum town that you can spend a couple of days exploring.

Yes, Casey’s gas station is a big deal in the Midwest. They are based in Iowa and have a major presence in Nebraska, eastern South Dakota and moving into the Chicagoland market in a big way. They are very clean stores and their food is excellent.

Sir: Another comment from me on this show: At time position 27:49 you stated that the group of farm workers was a whole family working together, I say it is a group of people working in a forced labor situation or at the very least, a sharecropping situation. Please corrected me if I have the wrong interpretation of the situation. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
