s5 is great, but imo the m340 is simply a better car. it has more hp, has newer tech, b58 is reliable and has a much better mpg (33 on highway is nuts for a 380hp inline 6). It is also a awd, not as good as the quattro but still capable of handling most road conditions with good winter tires.

S5 has better interior, better sound system, better quality, looks more expensive, more comfortable, more options, more features, looks better,faster mod for mod (off the shelf tunes) ,BETTER SEATS….. and sounds better

I tested both, ended up picking Audi s5 that 20 hp is not gonna change my mind. Less then 500 dollars 034 tune and you can get 420hp. S5 looks better especially if you get it with prestige the one i got . Laser headlight . Black optics. S package.

Audi is more practical with the sportback design. Better comparison would be to the M440 that’s also a sportback. M340/440 for the engine and performance edge.

The m340i is better in almost every respect from all the research I've done. It's a fair bit quicker, better gearbox, better traction, handles better, is more efficient, better mpg, better interior, and they're both about as comfy as each other. Oh and its cheaper too which is odd

People fall for the 3-series mostly because ot track reviews and dynamics on the track (limit). A5 acutally are build on MQB evo (shared with Porsche) with double wishbone front suspension, sounds better, looks better and interior is better quality. I choose between these two last year. I got the Audi. On the street S5 is not worse than m340i decpite is 2016-model year so almost 10 years old + now everybody drives BMW`s wichs is kinda boring. I like to be a bit different always. My father have X3. Modern BMW`s feels very generic if you dont mod them both nside and outside.

I don’t care for the styling on the bmw, if the Audi had the hp of the M340, the bmw wouldn’t stand a chance… I went with a S5 coupe

I believe the biggest lies spread by car companies is that large touch screens in vehicles represent modern advancement. I will always choose Audi for providing me with physical AC buttons and a gear selector stick.

Isn't really different?! The brand new 2025 Audi A5/S5 is completely different from the 2024 and should've been compared with the M440i. If it came down to sportbacks I think the new S5 is the better of the 2. Aesthetically it looks much better and for the most part it maintains its luxury whereas BMW seems to be on a downward trend in numerous ways outside of its performance and driving dynamics which is still number 1... That is till MAGMA finally comes out.
