I loved that too! I wish Jordy would have zoomed in and shown us the hallmark on the bottom. I Imagine it sat inside a large water bowl for washing up or perhaps it carried milk to the table. In any event it was really beautiful. And the cranberry glass epergne’ was so amazing but was completely ignored! That made me crazy! LOL

Since I am Portuguese I have been watching your videos of abandoned places here in Portugal. This video had/has a very FAMILIAR VIBE to me. The kind of architecture was familiar to me. A lot of furniture was familiar to me. The way of the building was/is collapsing is familiar to me. Even the blue string at 3 minutes and something and the paper bag on the floor was familiar to me. I never felt this with the other "Portuguese" videos. I can assure you I never have been in the house you guys showed us. Don't ask me how but I easily managed to find where this place is and now everything makes sense. I live 12km away from this place. While watching this video , for different reasons, 3 to 4 houses came into my mind. This video, somehow reminds me of parts of my childhood, other parts reminds me of my grandma's house. Recently I found out that my grandma's house, half of it, is older than 1876, by that time it looks like the house belonged to my great great grandfather. I used to like old houses but now I have one more reason to like them. The difference is, my grandma's house is not a palace, it is just a small house who belonged and still belongs to people of low class and maybe that's why the house is still occupied, it doesn't require a lot of money to maintain it. I'm sorry if I wrote too much, but I truly became excited with this video and the similarities that I found. Thank You!!!

Often times when you see everything left and nothing removed either the probate taxes are too high, or no living heirs. 11:35 the little girl's shoe were from the 1920's and known as "Mary Jane" shoe with center strap. 13:45 a Victorian candle holder found in the corner of most rooms. 13:49 I can't help but stare at the wide, wide baseboards near Lesley's knee indicative of a very expensive home. Furniture doesn't pay for itself, the wine business must have been a booming business!

I have seen many of your videos and they are all fine. I love so much seeing all of the beautiful furniture and the way people lived many years ago. People lived such simple lives but had what They needed for the most part. Please keep in mind that some of us ladies out here would love to see the details of the linens and lace and crocheted items and porcelain and glass. The beautiful cranberry glass Epergne was really spectacular. I would have given a lot to see it better. And to see the hallmarks and fine porcelain would be wonderful too. You do a wonderful job though considering you are only young boys. Us old ladies remember many of those things that you are trying to explain. So delightful! Have fun but please be careful.

The " Pocket Wallet " is not a wallet at all. It's a repair kit for bicycle tires and straps on to the back of a saddle. That's why on a Leather saddle you have 2 holes in it for a puncture repair kit. You see them a lot in The Netherlands.

What a beautiful old home ..I would have thought with it’s age and with the looks of it no additions to it that it could have been saved by one of these historical places and be restored as there are so many original features like the wallpapers ..or paintings and all the bits like the serving hatches etc..There is also a lot of beautiful antiques in there,not as old as the building but certainly older than the occupants that lived there,probably passed down in the family..The tall thing that you thought was a candle holder was a plant stand,very popular in Victorian and Edwardian times..For the age there is not a lot of damage really and it could be repaired,re roofed etc..if I won the lottery I would love something like this it’s beautiful 😀

The crystal looking candle holder thing you found on a stand at about 13:52 looks like (at first glance) what they called a skyscraper lamp from back in the early to mid 1900s. I can't be sure without a closer look. I know it looked like it didn't have a cord though...so maybe not electric, but oil?

Hi Lesley and Jordy, Bros of Decay, Thanks a lot for this wonderful explore of the unbelievable Portugese farm from the 18th century. "We have to be a bit careful, because this place is very old. ....We don't want to take a risk and falling through the floor. Then our explore trip is already over." - Hahaha, LOL, How very true! - Once again one of these unique typical humorous remarks from Lesley! Very interesting to watch and beautifully commented by you, dear Lesley, as always. - You are a really gifted narrator, and it is such a pleasure listening to you! - Wonderful - to see after a long time, - at last - your adorable brother Jordy at the beginning of the video. By the way "grape liquid" is simply grape juice, and that is a juice i especially like drinking very much. - Porto is in fact a dessert wine, tasting very good. You can buy Porto as a "sweet" wine. I loved walking in mind together with you through these rooms. - Some antiques, you were showing, were interesting and might be quite valuable. - The location had a legit time capsule vibe. I wish you all the best, and I am already looking forward to your next adventures. - Peace and kindest regards from Switzerland.

Very nice to see Jordy again! What a beautiful place. Leslie- have seen other explorers explore vineyards (sp?) but none have ever gone into as much detail as you. Question: is Porto the same thing as Port? Like you, I prefer red wine. Port was a bit stronger but still good. Some years ago I was in Kentucky for conference and took some of my down time to visit the Jim Beam distillery. Fortunately the family held on to property during prohibition! Any furniture with a marble top is good 😊. All of the carving. I hope someone goes in to rescue the furniture before any more of the house falls on top of it. Wonderful explore. The music you pick always adds so much. Thank you for sharing and as always, be careful and stay safe!

Hello Leslie and Jordy. In the painting of the Last Supper, Judas is the man sitting alone on the near side of the table, separated from the others. It's an artistic convention. I'm guessing that the young man with his head on Jesus' shoulder is Saint John the Evangelist.
@christinenikiforovs98205 жыл бұрын
egparis 18 You are right, it is the disciple John leaning on Jesus shoulder.

@Anastasia My dear, feminist revisionism is just as bad as every other revisionism. If the painter has painted John, it's John, not Mary Magdalene.
