Brother HL2270DW printer feed porblem

Thanks for this. That little white thing wasn’t the problem for me, but I looked inside and saw there was a nickel stuck inside of mine. Taking a peek inside is helpful! 😅

I've owned my printer for eight years, and not until watching this video did I realize it had a manual feed.

It's great for envelopes and odd width forms, mainly. You wouldn't want to rely on it for much, but it's a great feature.

Thanks, I fixed mine. I looked where you said that white lever was and saw nothing. Then I looked inside the hole with a flashlight and saw that mine has a white lever that does not stick out, it's entirely contained inside that little compartment, and it had slid off to the left inside the compartment so it would no longer be pushed back by inserting the paper tray. I bent a paperclip 📎 into a little hook with needle nose pliers, pulled the lever back into position, and the printer works again! Thank you 🥰

Hi, I'm back a month later and the printer is not feeding the paper again. This time I can't even see the white lever. How did you fix it with a paper clip? Or how do you take apart this part of the printer to fix it (and make it stay in place?) @JohnRakowski

​@@firstnamelastname-ve9gjI did not take the printer apart, I looked in the little nook with a flashlight and saw the lever there. If you don't, it may have broken off or perhaps gotten stuck further back there. I bent the paperclip into a long rod then made a little hook on the end to get to the lever. Maybe try putting the printer into different orientations, like upside down, to see if it rattles around or falls out.

Great video. I was looking at a 2270DW today which would not pickup paper. It was missing the white lever just like in this video.

Just watched the video... I was about to chunk this printer in the trash. Anyway... thanks! I moved the white tab back in position with a paperclip and it's printing again.

I found this video because I was trying to troubleshoot the same problem on my printer. It behaved exactly as yours did. I did take mine apart and examine the gears and plastic arm and I was unable to determine if anything was wrong there. I ended up going back to the Brother video on clearing jams: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJWskpeXoLFkprs. I didn't have a jam, but my paper tray paper guides (2:30 in the video) weren't set correctly. In particular, the length was pushed all the way back. When I moved it back into the position for letter sized paper, it started working again.

My problem was different. If you look at the 2 minute mark of my video it shows where the white plastic arm should be. It had become dislodged during transport. I had to take it apart - something I was trying to avoid as a last resort -- and reseat the piece. Once I did the paper started feeding properly.
