Just bought one today from best buy. Gonna set it up this weekend. Looks like a good one. My Canon Pixma crashed after like 2 years. I got a 4 year warranty from best buy with this one.

You WON'T need that "4 year warranty" with a Brother printer! I owned a Brother MFC- J415 for 10years with NO issues! Only reason I don't have it anymore because it was "lost" in a move last year, but I did buy another Brother (not intentional wording), a MFC-J497DW. I have owned it for about a year now, and NO issues so far! What can I say except, It's a Brother! LOVE THEM BROTHERS!!!!!

Nicely done video. Suggestions: 1. The printer should not be turned on while all the shipping tape and inserts are in place. 2. Please don't regurgitate ridiculous mfgr speed claims (32/27 PPM). The much lower ISO 12/10 PPM are almost impossible to achieve.

this is how i do day 1 : Menu > Network > Setup wizard > it searches for WIFi > chose yours >> password >> should be connected to WIFi (not to your computer yet). then the CD you need a driver installed for the laptop to recognize printer on WIFI network, hope it helps. make sure all your WIFI firewall is down before starting

its with the disk, also try this method, in control panel, tab on devices and printer, to see if there's an icon for brother scanner, if there is , u can do manually with wired cable. but brother driver and software is recommended.

Works on VoIP home phones for faxing 97% of the time. Can only fax from PC in two file formats, tiff and ?... You can get around it... I fax pdf files by hitting print in pdf software, then choosing the "brother fax" driver instead of the regular driver. If low on any ink, printer won't scan, fax, or even print... So keep in mind.

no complain so far, good for my daily home use, no jam issues i have seen yet, it comes with 1 usb port for wired printing, no usb port for flash drive nor sd slots. E print does it all. i saw its on sale 69.99 @ bestbuy last weekend

This is the only printer I've used that does not prompt for or install the driver during setup. I thought something was wrong when I went to print a document and it was not displayed in the printer list.

are you trying to print wireless or with USB cable.? either one have you checked the default printer, make sure MFC-J475DW is your default printer or else our computer chooses your previous printer, the brother printer must appear in your "view devices and printer " under control panel for you to print

This is proly gonna sound like a rookie question but do you have to have internet to wirelessly connect to laptop on this printer because my grandmother has an older is laptop but it can be wifi enabed its just for some reason after i installed the cd on her computer it didn't want to find it for some reason and i tryed reseting the network setting on the printer itself like 3 times

OEM cartridges are available at Staples, amazon, ebay and bestbuy. I recently changed 1 BLk purchased off amazon. it was plug and play for me. Non_brother brands are still not available yet I believe since the printer is quite new to the market, but will be coming soon for sure. I looked up 123refills and found a refill kit at decent price. hope this helps

I can't get my printer to print. It was working fine before I updated mac with Yosemite. Now my mac searches for the printer and just says it can't find the printer. I checked all my sharing settings and reinstalled the brother software but still the same thing. What do I do???!!!

I set up my mfc-j475dw wirelessly with the cd. It set up its own network called SETUP that was not secured. If you want to print to the machine you have to connect to that unsecured network to do it. Did you have the same problem?

This printer is the biggest piece of shit I have ever used. Cannot scan without the cartridges. network error messages. I purchased a flat bed stand alone scanner and took this piece of shit apart with a hammer and returned it to Brother. I feel so much better.

Thanks for the video,nice of you to do : ) ..its pretty easy to put in the ink it seems which I like. I have the higher model of this printer the MFC-J650DW which we bought in January. But really..compared to the Canon PIXMA we had before, the color print outs are V E R Y poor. And I mean really inferior. I only went for Brother cause the Canon died due to us using non original inks..the original inks were just too much money. I read Brother can work using the non original ink but so far I still buy Brother original..when the colors go Im not sure what Ill do. Its too bad the Brother Printer being 4 years newer than the Pixma is so much worse for color print.When will they be as good 30 years from now?

Can you scan wirelessly with this printer? I could print wirelessly with jt but I haven't found a way to scan. Since I have a Mac so the CD-ROM wasn't working for my laptop. I just bought this printer, but I'm concerned about finding ink cartridges (LC101 / LC103) to fit it (I've always used HP, and they were readily available). Anyway, is there a best place to shop for them? Have you used 'non-Brother' cartridges???

you do need wireless internet (WIFI) in order to wirelessly connect printer and other devices. now with your laptop, seems like the old laptop internet adapter could be a problem or the internet router itself. With the ipad, 3G connection doesn't play any role here. it must be on wifi while using the feature I believe. I am using the Linksys router, which is the best router on the market and have no problem with any wireless printing both from laptop, desktop and android tablets.

do you have the driver installed? are you scan via wifi or with the usb cable.? it is easy with the usb cable for me. for wireless scanning. make sure the ControlCenter4 is installed and follow the steps in your manual

no duplex scanning i believe, only duplex printer. But it let you scan multiple docs though if you chose the option, then i'll ask you in between doc

i have a brother printer DCP-J315W and i am having trouble with my scanner. It worked before but then i had problems with my computer and everything didnt work. However a friend got me back into the printing however i am still having connection problems with my scanner. Emily Owen Emily, do you know how to shut off the automatic print head cleaning? I don't print a whole lot, but have already burned through 2 cartridges because of this setting. Only things I've seen online are to do test scans or shut down the printer. Those don't seem like efficient steps though.

I have the Brother MFC-J470DW and I have to change my router settings fairly often. Anyone know how to make it stop printing a page of completely useless information every time I connect it to my wifi? They charge $16 for each of the 4 ink cartridges and waste ink and paper by doing this.

Im pretty disappointed that I do not see an easy setting to scan through the ADF. When I insert paper into the ADF it just goes to "Fax". Even on the PC it does not give option....

That sounds like BS. My brother MFC-J497DW (pretty much the same machine) will scan ANY document that is placed in the ADF. Yes, it defaults to "fax" mode when inserting the document, you have to manually select the mode you will be using after the paper is inserted in the ADF.
