SUMMARY
From 1969 to 1984 I used 13 different artists with the Brotherhood of Man, I recorded 204 different tracks, which I wrote or co wrote 149 different songs, I released 36 singles in which 14 charted, I released 20 albums in which 6 charted, the Brotherhood of Man received over 30 Silver, Gold and Platinum discs.
I now look back with joy at those wonderful years and am delighted that I was instrumental in putting together such an array of wonderful talent, like the late great Johnny Goodison who went on to write and produce many hits. Tony Burrows to this day is still recording and still has a wonderful career touring with White Plains. Roger Greenaway along with his partner Roger Cook went on to become one of the greatest writers that this country has ever seen, also chairman of the PRS (performing Rights Society) and vice president of ASCAP. Russell Stone along with his lovely wife went on and recorded many hits. The talented Sue and Sunny carried on with session work and went on and recorded many big hits of today. Barry Upton whom I also had the pleasure of writing many hits songs with, Barry also went on to write hits in his own right.

Oh god I looked like a little boy :D I was there during this. My mum took me and told me I'd be watching people sing for the day and had to dance in my best dress. From what I remember, none of us knew the words to this, so that's not us singing on the chorus. I remember a called Katherine was dancing with me and we was singing the words to "Hungry, hungry I am hungry, Table, table here I come, I could eat a goose-moose burger, Fifteen pickles and a purple plum". I remember the record getting stuck and they had to start again. We did several "takes". They got changed into more clothes and sang another song, Taxi, I think it was. The good memories. It's sad that Tony Hiller is no longer with us, but his channel is still here :(

This song actually never got into the UK charts, probably because it was a bit MOR for its time. Punk rock had been fashionable in the late seventies but by 1979 heavy metal was starting to make a comeback. Abba could get away with recording this type of music because they'd won the Eurovision Song Contest and had therefore been given an easier footing into the mainstream. (Mind you, this lot won Eurovision as well didn't they?). It was one of the few pop records my dad ever bought, he'd heard it off Radio 2. I'm taking it down to the Cancer Research shop on the 20th of April with a bagful of other stuff to celebrate the 18th anniversary of his death from lung cancer.

I suppose the song unfortunately didn’t do so well Probably because of it sounding quite a bit older sounding of a tune and the song And maybe for my kid orientated audiences And with arrival punk rock which seemed to take over and probably with bands like abba they could manage well in the charts because they hard started in the early mid seventies And so people had a good idea around their music and weren’t sure about their songs at that point And I think this was really probably because it could have sounded too old fashioned or childish to some people This could have been a hit.

CULT68 I think you’ll find that ABBA were working together in one form or another from the late 60s, and started to record their first album in 1972, around the same time that this line up of BHOM were put together . So this version of BHOM were hardly selling “100000’s more superb hits before ABBA” And the line up before this lot had a mere two hits and had nothing what so ever to do with this line up.
