After the Enter Sandman cover went viral they began planning (late 2014) to attend the Berklee School of Music in Boston (on the advice of their teachers). They started crowdfunding for tuition and expenses, and one result is the donated DW drum kit in the last video, and the launching of their website as noted in the URL at the bottom center of the last video. The crowdfunding went extremely well, and on April 14, 2015 they passed their $30000 goal thanks to a $10000 donation by Alex Rigopulos, the creative director of Harmonix (Rock Band). They decided to continue crowdfunding to buy O-1 visas and Green Cards so the girl could travel and work in the US. Thanks to a write-in campaign they appeared on the Ellen Show on April 24th and were gifted $30000 by Target, money that was used to buy the visas and establish a fund to pay for their expensive musical education. Those visas and the sudden surge of money allowed them to immediately attend Berklee that summer (2015) instead of 2016 as was planned.

@@glennandadriansrocktalk Their father was a long time friend of Pablo González Sarre, bassist of popular band Los Claxons, and when Ale started playing bass he asked if could help her out. Not only did Pablo become her tutor, he also encouraged the girls to start songwriting and ended up becoming the band's mentor by teaching them how to work together, and how to songwrite and arrange. They were tasked to write and arrange a song before their next session, where he would critique them. Then he showed them how to record their music, and those demoes became the basis for the 2015 iTunes EP they released to help with their Berklee crowdfunding. Jake Carmona, who engineered some of the Los Claxons albums, was asked by Pablo to do the recording sessions, and eventually the EP mixing. Jake also produced their first album (XXI Century Blood) and taught the girls enough that Dany received a professional producer credit and Pau got a co-producer credit. They continued working with him when he produced their second album (Queen of the Music Scene) and all three of them received pro credits for arranging, producing and mixing supervisor, at ages 18-16-13.

That Brahms piece is definitely worth a watch - Pau and Dany ride that rollercoaster of a song through all its twists and turns as though they share a single brain. The piano is out of tune, and the song isn't my cup of tea, but as a display of their connection it's very impressive. Their fourth most popular video is just Pau at 10 years old playing a Kelly Clarkson cover. It's an amazing display of her technical chops, which she doesn't really show-off much, in favour of more hard-hitting rock drumming. Definitely a great video worth seeing. I say this as a newer-than-most fan who has had a hard time appreciating their earlier video - of these three videos I've only seen the Sandman one.

You don't find much about their parents in the official biographies, but they must have come from relatively fortunate or ambitious circumstances to have been introduced to music, and so professionally at a young age. I wonder if it makes it easier being siblings to progress together towards a common goal. You don't have to place adverts for band members and go through auditions.

Their mother (Mony) is a dentist and father (Luis) is a civil engineer, but also worked as an audio engineer. Neither are musicians but lifelong music lovers and recognized the girl’s love of music very early. Fortunately Luis knew enough about proper equipment to get them started. The story is that he sold his Harley to build them the practice space in their basement, now known as as “The Cave”. They still live there and just this week posted pictures of themselves rehearsing for their upcoming tour in that same room.

This is really cool. I would suggest one thought: Maybe they are not prodigies. Maybe they earned every bit of this with a basis of decent skill alone. I find that even better. Obviously they are all talented, but watch how they change over time. Dani, in particular, would never have grown into the front woman she is today without some incredible hard work. Not that she's the least talented, but personality-wise it's actually Paulina that has more of the front-woman temperament (and talent). Alejandra has the talents of perfect time and pitch, which do make her well suited for bass. But she has the handicap of not having stage instincts. She's had to develop that. Pau is the closest to a prodigy IMO, because her songwriting is poetic and she also has incredible coordination and a basic instinct for what music is for, that is very hard to teach. Dani said something in a vlog awhile back about how she discovered that when she has really strong emotions, that's when a song will pop out. She has a poetic heart, whereas Pau has a poetic mind. So in a way it's incidental that their ages made Dani the developed front woman that she is today. Pau might have been more clever in that role, but she wouldn't have had quite the same power as Dani's emotionality is more naturally vulnerable. The stars aligned and they were born in the right order to have them influence each other in just the right way to produce The Warning. But yes, it's their hard work and dedication to developing themselves and themselves as a band that are the most impressive thing. Edit: I just wanted to add an edit that I think Dani is the best frontwoman around, that they're all poetic, that Ale's stage presence is amazing, and etc.. I may sound a bit critical in the post below but it is largely just to make the point that they all worked, as they say **extremely hard** to sound like they do and have the presence they do. The once in a lifetime bit is having the character and family they do. The rest follows from that.
