Great video. My ‘88 is two-tone white-red-white with the red carmine interior. I could hear and smell everything in this video lol. Even imagine each noise made by the parts of the sound wasn’t even in the video. Mine is worn and torn in the same spots as this one. Glad to see dash covers are coming along on fit and finish. They used to be frustratingly unfitting. Still pricey 😢. BROTHERS doesn’t wanna give a red one away for a good cause do ya? Lol. I need one for my ‘88. A tan one for my ‘79 and and a black one for my ’85 M1009 Blazer. damn these Blazers are addictive! Great job by Dave. I mentioned on another video he’s one of the best teachers for the DIY folks who aren’t professional car builders. He and Kevin Tetz are top notch in that field. (Derek Bieri & Thomas Mortske as well in the self-filmed revival field) Especially enjoyed the heated socket carpet trick. I’ve done it with heated screw driver before but the socket makes way more sense! Hats off Dave, hope that ole back holds up well for you to keep doing what you love. Back pain is a b!+ćh! And I’m right there with ya.

OMG - my k5 is 88 also! Mine is the light tan color paint color. The only thing I have hit a snag on restoring is those odd camel (saddle?) vinyl seats that the vinyl is bonded to the foam. Slip-on covers won't work. Would love more info on re-doing those. Btw, I shot mine with tintable raptor liner and used matching pigment from the paint code - love that stuff ;-)

Dave! Please do a video on repairing those dashes that people cut to fit a CD player in. I see you just installed the factory style straight to the new bezel. Is that sturdy enough to hold the new radio?

The new radios BROTHERS sells are very lightweight compared to the factory radio due to updated electronics. The dash panel itself is plenty strong to hold the radio as long as you also use the provided strap to support the rear of the unit.

My '86 K10 Silverado has a sad interior like this. The previous owner even rhino-lined the entire floor, much to my chagrin. I know this damn truck is capable of looking good again. Your videos give me hope!

im about to be at the interior point of my rebuild . i was thinking about doing a bed liner on the floor and then dyno mat and carpet over that . being your floor is already done , whats your opinion on spraying a bed liner on the floor for extra insolation ?

Dave. Don't you mean the fiber optic line goes to the ash tray, not the HVAC controller. Or is the 88 different than the older ones?

Pretty sure it goes to the AC controls, but to be honest we didn't trace it down to its termination point.

@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV in my 83 it travels across the ac and clips to the ash tray so you get a spec of light shinning on your ash stuffed ashtray ash and butt holder. I'm sure someone will chime in. Thanks for the reply

The light goes into the back of the gauge cluster and then the fiber optic runs to the ashtray

@@Hvac11bravo they are correct. Plus the body style remained squarebody on the 1-ton series pickup as well through ‘91. 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton changed over in ‘88.
