He's not really calling him "master", it's just that japanese suffixes are all but impossible to translate. I think "lord Gown" would be a closer translation of the suffix "-dono" in this case. It doesn't necessarily imply a noble status, but it's required to refer to someone who's a noble. In this case, it's the least of the suffixes that can be used without being directly insulting. The most common suffix "Gown-san", translated by "Sir Gown", would be totally inappropriate for a king. That would be implying he's not a noble. Other possible suffixes would have been "Gown-sama", means that Ainz is of higher status. Or "Gown-heika", basically "your majesty". "-dono" only means here "person of high status who isn't above me" and any other suffix would either make him subservient or be insulting.

There's a reason the Empire only fielded 60,000 troops against the Kingdom's 240,000. The empire's troops are professional soldiers, trained for years in warfare, whereas the Kingdom's are mostly conscripted serfs given a suit of armor and a spear. The reason the Empire conducts a yearly war against the empire is that they're trying to wear down their forces while simultaneously taking manpower from the growing fields, and starve the kingdom. That's also why they do this during the harvest season; so the food rots in the fields.

Ainz' undead line is saying that he is not cruel and enjoy killing like a demon but an undead that has no regard how many more have to die to finish the task. After the 70k tribute, 110k+ more died from the splat. The author had to fill an entire page with nothing but splat. In web novel, Raeven died here.

@@goblinslayerrr406 The king is a very good man, it's just that when you consider the fact he is still just a normal human he can only do so much. He however was too complacent in his later years which has caused the country to stagnate and become corrupt. By the time the king realized just how bad the situation had gotten, the noble faction had gained so much power that trying to enforce his will would've caused a civil war. By comparison the Emperor of the Baharuth Empire is a more composed genius of a man, he had more central power and quickly stamped out most of the nobles who did nothing for the Empire. Having strong retainers and advisors gave him the means to enforce his will. Meanwhile the King of the Re-Estize kingdom doesn't have many people that're actually powerful as his close advisors or retainers, Gazef is literally one of the only people in the kingdom that would give the King means to enforce his will. If he had more retainers that were noteworthy in terms of strength like how Jircniv does, and if his army was more professional then he'd be able to enforce his will more readily. However since he's not really a genius, just a overall decent king, it means he probably wouldn't be able to stamp out all of the corrupt nobles entirely. As for Ainz, Ainz is literally the definition of faking it and it going his way. It helps that he's a very smart fighter and unparalleled magic caster, but as far as kingcraft and such is concerned he is by no means a genius. Though that's not going to stop all of his subordinates from believing he is a super genius that is all knowing and faultless. To the point they basically make plans for him assuming he already made the plan long before they did. It is by far one of the best things in the show, just watching Ainz be like "What plan? I didn't have a plan."

​​​@@darkrite9000yeah the king is definitely decent, however a king must lead his people. He isn't capable of enforcing his leadership. His capabilities isn't on par with Jircniv. Although I'll just give props to Ainz here. He's a good leader. A leader's role is to put the right person at the right job, pretty much delegation of duties. A leader does not need to be the strategist. I agree tho that he isn't, at the moment, decent in kingcraft as he's the one being lead. In this sense, Ainz is a good leader in regards to delegation of duties, but is not, atm, king-worthy. Edit: I do agree, Ainz's plans that are far too incomprehensible even to the highest of the most supreme beings... Which is himself, is totally enjoyable.

@@sixjhontongalamar979 Yeah the fact that the king cannot enforce his will does mean he's ineffective as a king, and since he's not like Jircniv he can't really make big pushes for change to further centralize and solidify his power. Which means that depending on who succeeds him to the throne (or rather who would've), it could drastically effect how the nation develops or falls. Ainz as you pointed out is good at delegating responsibilities he's not equipped to deal with. And while technically the floor guardians could in theory betray him and manipulate him due to him not being a genius. They don't do that because they honestly believe he's a perfect being, and they hold absolute love and loyalty towards him. Anyone outside of Nazarick may not be as loyal but they also have no means to oppose him and thus are not a threat to his rule. But Ainz does try to improve his understanding, while the old king doesn't appear to make very many moves to try and change the kingdom or his own capabilities. The politics of Overlord are definitely a strong driving force and makes things very interesting, since it'd be relatively boring if the show was just Ainz slapping everything in sight because nothing can stop him. The other characters, their flaws, and their politics and ideas make Overlord probably my favorite isekai.

this one battle completed the strategy the empire was using to beat the kingdom in a single day since every single one of those soldiers not a noble was a farmer and instead of tilling there fields for food they were off fighting a battle now 180k are dead those crops will spoil or go bad and can not be harvested (and what little they can harvest 75% goes to the lord of the land thus familys can no longer feed themselves or there kids) as for the nobles well it is gonna leave to a power vacuum left behind with people who do not know a thing about what they are doing since they were never trained

Fun fact: The anime portrayed the Goats differently form the LN. In the LN the goats were about the size of a horse and SUPER FAST, the reason why the author wrote an entire page with the word SPLAT was not becuse they were big, but because the Goats were so fast that they just used the army as a running carpet and their foot didnt touch the ground for a long time, they were just trampling the soldiers.
