Always learn something new in this hobby. Going to have to order some Reef Primer to add to my arsenal. Seems to have helped. I've had a little success with Iodine dips but always looking for something better. Also ordering me some Maxspect tongs after seeing them in your vid. Thanks for sharing this valuable information!

That’s the beauty of this hobby, there’s always something new to learn about it. Also, after seeing these results I’m definitely going to keep some on hand myself for those just in case moments and to act quick to stop the spread or if I see any unwanted pests on corals. As for the tongs, I really like them because they are made from carbon fiber and rubber so you don’t have to worry about any corrosion. Thank you for stopping by Phil!

Hello, first time viewer here. Have you ever heard of kung fu corals? They are very passionate about fimbriaphyllia and euphyllia. They have developed their own medicating/dipping process with a very high success rate. They are very forthcoming with the reefing community when it comes to sharing this information. I believe they also sell all the meds on their website as a kit. I’ve also been dealing with some type of low level bacterial infection on my hammer corals, but it’s not bjd. I’ve been having some success using a strong dip of iodine, but the infection slowly comes back. The next step will probably be a uv sterilizer. Great video, thanks for sharing!!

I’m way overdue for an update I’m sure, but I ended up using Cipro in the whole system and that ultimately cleared up whatever was in my tank and everything bounced back amazingly.

Great video! I've heard of melafix curing BJD but I think I like this way better.
@SaltFishTV3 жыл бұрын
Melafix is another tree oil based solution, which I do use for dipping new corals that I get in before adding to the tank, but I’m thinking I may just use this reef primer from now on. Thank you for stopping by!

I have Coral RX on hand. You think I should try that right away? I have brown jelly on a torch. Thanks for the video.
@SaltFishTV2 жыл бұрын
Coral RX is a dip you should use on your corals for pests, but can also help in some cases for sick coral. In this case it won’t touch brown jelly. I recommend Dippin in several dips day with this reef primer or do as I did with Cipro and it took care of it.
@billhudson21962 жыл бұрын
@@SaltFishTV Ok I've ordered Cipro and Reef Primer. In the meantime I dipped in Coral Rx because that's all I have on hand. Thanks for the reply.

Give us an update what happened with this torch after 1 week of dipping for this solution. Ty

So far it’s been over a week since dipping and it looks good so far. I’m letting it go longer before an update to get some more time to be sure.

Thats great info! However, i heard Reef primer run out more quickly than other coral dipping supplements. Is it true??
@SaltFishTV3 жыл бұрын
In the aspect that this one bottle is considered a “shot” or one time use, I can see that, but there are larger bottles that will have more doses in it. To be honest from what I’ve seen so far with it, I think it’s worth the extra. It’ll take care of all the bugs and bacteria. Just how I see it.

So, did BJD come back after using this?
@SaltFishTV Жыл бұрын
I’m my case it did. After some research, I found it’s best to keep doing a series of dips and keep it in a quarantine type setting. I ended up losing this torch and using Cipro on the whole system.

Mine didn’t fair too well as the infection was deep. With this reef primer it’s best to dip daily for at least a week. Reef primer is known to actually kill ciliates that BJD is.

reef primer does nothing for bjd. Sorry about your corals. If you want any chance of saving it try cipro.

I guess the data that says otherwise isn’t good?
@deepreef2103 жыл бұрын
@@SaltFishTV main thing with internet forums and the like is that no one likes to report death. I hope you come back to update everyone about the results of what happened. BJD is (very likely) caused by bacteria, so potassium salts are not going to help.
@SaltFishTV3 жыл бұрын
@@deepreef210 Read up on potassium salts. Also, Check out the article I linked in the description, have you tried it before? I’d like to know your first hand experience.
@deepreef2103 жыл бұрын
@@SaltFishTV that article talks about reef primers effects on ciliates. Does not talk about whether it enabled the euphylia to beat BJD. People have seen ciliates when there is BJD, but its not proven that ciliates cause BJD, more likely only that ciliates appear ( along with other bacteria) when there is BJD. In any case, I have tried all of this ( iodine, reef primer etc), and nothing can stop the death once it has started. You either need to frag it or discard it. Cipro sounds more promising though. I am keen to find out how it went for you ? Its been a couple of days - hows it going ?
