Put mine in a Boyd’s. Extremely happy with how it turned out. Even with a slightly botched bedding job.

After the first video you made about this kind of set up. I have an older stevens odd 6, and wanted to upgrade in the near future to a more futurized cartridge. I absolutely love this new kind of set up and am going to go this route when Im ready! Thank you for this!

Brave man using red Loctite.....that's commitment. 😀
@christopherkoenig22796 ай бұрын
thats all use on scope bases. I also put red on the bottom of the bases and clean the action/bases with acetone or carb cleaner before. The bases always don't fit 100% to the action. And between the loctite on the bases and the screws......its nearly impossible to loosen. If I have to remove it, I heat it with a small torch. Blue goes on the screws that hold the rings to the bases. I have had my share of bases/pic rails come loose over time.
@jmkhenka5 ай бұрын
@@christopherkoenig2279 I would not recommend using actone or carb cleaner on blued steel. It will rust, trust me. If its some other protection like ceracoat then it does not matter. Remove all oils on blued steel is not good.. But back to the loctite. Removing it with heat is easy and not destructive. just warm until it smokes, then it will come loose.

What mdt chassis would fit for Howa 6.5 prc carbon fiber barreled action?
@GammaRayTrae11 ай бұрын
I was looking into getting one of these Howa 16” barreled actions and using an mdt chassis, but with the chassis I want mdt doesn’t sale as a package deal. You have to buy the buttstock separately, it’s better to just buy a sig cross at this point and get an 18” barrel
@ericschultz27303 ай бұрын
Ironically this is almost exactly like the build Ive been thinking of doing. just don't know if I should spend the extra few hundred on the chassis at first or hunt with the rifle for a year or two before getting the chassis.

Hey Caleb, what's going on, did brownells jump the "gun" (lol) and release this vid before MDT could release their own and update their website? I ask this because it isn't showing me on the MDT website that a Howa 1500 SA action option is available for the MDT Field stock.

I just purchased an MDT Oryx chassis and it would not properly latch with my Magpul Aics mags. MDT suggested slight modification to the poly mags, I just opted to order some MDT mags (which of course worked). Just a note on my experience with pmags.

I have a question about these style stocks/chassis. Assuming the positioning of the action in the stock is accurate and it's torqued appropriately, would there be any practical benefit to bedding the action into this style of stock?
@albundy745911 ай бұрын
From what I was told that makes logical sense is that neither company can hit each others windows of specifications so it won’t be a perfect fit. Bedding is the only way to perfectly seat the action. I’ve never tried it in anything other than wood stocks, but it makes sense to me.

I just built this exact setup and it's untouchable for the money. Just under 12 Hundo from ARCA rail to decent glass. Excellent factory trigger. Only one zero/break-in day at the range and it put up a 1" 100yd group with M80 ball...LOL. Not shabby; that will likely be the worst group it ever produces. Question/complaint: Is anyone else having mag insertion problems? I have a ton of different AI pattern mags, and they all fit VERY tight. Like no chance of it dropping on its own ever. Must remove from bench and wrestle out. I bought a MDT one to give it a fair shake, and it's barely better. The bolt is pretty smooth on this rifle, but is wonky picking up rounds out of the mags as well. The next time I have the action out I'm going to put the factory bottom metal on and try it on the bench. Still no ragrets. I'm guessing I'm going to end up doing some file/dremel work, but was wondering if others are experiencing the same thing.

Make sure you slide those rings as far FORWARD as they'll go on the rail before tightening otherwise over time they'll slide forward on their own under recoil. We all know what a moving optic does to group sizes so avoid this common mistake.

Great video except the torquing sequence is absolutely backwards. If you torque the front one in the back one, you can have a bow in the middle. Taking note from Twerking down head bolts on a car engine. Start in the center and spread towards each end. That way it lays down flat. Otherwise great video.

Plastic is what it is, but the action bedding on this stock is better than any Boyds I've ever had. The plastic is extremely stiff, and feels a ton better than the glass style. People like me want the MLOK capability up front. It has a nice channel for adding lead too (that's really meant as a removable stiffening spar, to allow access to the MLOK holes). This stock also does an inherent conversion to AI mags, which Boyds doesn't offer provisions for.
@kraigthirty499110 ай бұрын
Boyds offers m5 dbm bottom metal inletting but you will have to pillar bed the stock and bed the action
