This is the Browning 2000, the first gas operated shotgun produced by Browning. It’s a great shotgun for tall shooters or anyone with large hands and who likes a long length of pull. I shoot great with it and really bonded with it’s mechanics and feel.
It’s lack of sales success had nothing to do with it’s performance strangely enough.....it was just bad timing in the marketplace. The Remington 1100 was dominant in the early 70’s and screw in chokes and receivers capable of chambering both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells were all the rage......irrespective of the shotguns performance. This shotgun could do all that with simple barrel changes.
The Browning 2000 was loved by those who shot it and looked at sideways by those who didn’t but I’ll tell you this......I wish I would have found mine much earlier.
See you all soon!

Enjoyed the video and the history behind the Browning B 2000. I inherited one from my father and consider it priceless after his death. The gun performs flawlessly as long as it is kept clean. 👍🏼

My Grandpa handed one of these down to my oldest brother, for over ten years it sat and we never new exactly what it was. We didn't want to shoot it in case there was something wrong with the components. Just got back from the gunsmith and she's good to go and this is the exact video I needed to get familiar with it. Thanks

I have 12ga and a 20ga B2000. The 2.75" Barrel on the 12ga will cycle down to 7/8 oz loads. Reason being it's got two holes to vent the gas while the 3" Barrel has only one. Both have been extremely reliable and the softest guns to shoot out of my collection. The 20ga came with a full choke and I love it except that it shoots a crazy tight pattern. The engineering that went into these guns is impressive. The gas system is a pain to clean and I only clean it once by the end of the season. Never had an issue with these guns. They're built like a tank. The side loading is the icing on the cake and I am still perplexed why no one copied it.

G’day, like many, my inherited B2000, 3” will not fully eject the spent shell. The Black Cloud 1635s made it to the ejection port, while the round leaving the tube piggybacked beneath causing a jam. I also noticed that if a 3” is fully chambered and I pull back on the C-handle to eject it, it stays chambered - is removing the magazine tube required to remove the trigger & bolt?🤙🏼

I have 2 and both have had a similar problem. I had used one 1975 model for years with a 32in full choke barrel and no problems but all of a sudden it would fire the 1st shell, eject and then the trigger would jam, or hang up and it would not fire the 2nd shell. I would have to manually cycle the bolt and then it would fire a few times but stop again. I bought new trigger assemblies and that seems to have cured it. It was me taking it to a gunsmith, who didn't find anything wrong, cleaning multiple times, and new springs, before I just happened to see a little info online about the hanging trigger. Anyone out there with any thoughts ??
@MilsurpGarage

Trigger group and firing pin areas for the 2000 must be kept immaculate. Blast cleaning with gun scrubber and carefully blowing out with compressed air is a good procedure.

@@MilsurpGarage Awesome video! My father-in-law left one to the family, awesome shotgun, looking forward to using it a little this fall. How does the plug get removed, or added? Is it behind the gas chamber? I think(🙂) the pin in front of the gas chamber separates the spring and cap that butts up the the end of the shells... which is where I would suspect the plug to go. Am I on the right track? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks again for the video, it was very helpful!

@@MilsurpGarage that's certainly your choice. I've been doing it for over 40 yrs on my 12 and 20, no difference than push a button on the side of any semi auto shotgun with barrel intact. However you release the bolt, you still have to hold the bolt release to slowly close it, I'm just suggesting you use the proper control point for the operation. If you manually load by putting a round in chamber, how do you close it?
@MilsurpGarage
@MilsurpGarage Жыл бұрын
@@olegig5166 A round in the chamber cushions the blow of the bolt face slamming into the breech face. I hear what you’re saying and accept whatever method you approve of….I’m pretty careful in general so I can get away with a more risky procedure.

@olegig5166 Жыл бұрын
@@MilsurpGarage ok, l get you, but I'm afraid I did not make my point clear. You no doubt place one hand on the bolt charging handle to keep the bolt from slamming shut, your choice. You then stick your finger into the loading port to release the bolt. For anyone inexperienced with the 2000 there is a dedicated designed push button on the outside of the receiver which purpose is to manually release the bolt, it's just in front of the trigger guard. Do you know where this button is? I suggest you use the exterior button rather than sticking your finger in the action whether you wish to control the bolt or not. I simply don't want someone who is unfamiliar with the manual of arms of the 2000 to pick up one and following your lead cut their finger.
@MilsurpGarage
@MilsurpGarage Жыл бұрын
@@olegig5166 Even when in control of the bolt using the bolt handle, depressing the bottom bolt release button causes the shell carrier to slam upward, metal to metal, when a round is not being chambered. By utilizing the option of depressing the release in the loading port I can control both the carrier and the bolt to nice smooth controlled landings. Call it OCD. Call it unnecessary. I understand. But, it’s how I feel comfortable manipulating the action to mitigate the banging and clanging. I cannot be responsible for anyone who handles or operates anything incorrectly. The safety of their fingers is theirs and theirs alone. I have a feeling all digits will survive the 2000….it doesn’t bite unless provoked.
