The Browning "Sweet Sixteen," 16 ga. shotgun is a awesome shotgun.
The A-5 design, Was made by John Browning and was the first automatic shotgun ever made.By the 80's it was the No.1 shotgun in America. It came out in 1902-1998. It was made in the 12, 16 and 20 ga. The 16 ga in based on the frame of a 20 ga. and its light. Its almost as powerful as a 12 ga. This Sweet Sixteen was made in Miroku Japan between 1987-1992. A great bird gun.

I own two of these. My father gave me my 1st when I turned 16. He went to a Remington 1100 and I used the Sweet 16!!! It’s a superb upland hunting firearm. I can hit anything with this 70 + year old shotgun. It’s nearly mint condition after all these years… I’m 76 yrs, by the way and treasure this firearm!!!

I have a Light Twelve Auto 5 made in 1924 inherit from my grandfather. His brother brought her from USA where he was living to my grandfather in Portugal in 1965. When I got it, despite not having rust, it was very worn, so I sent it to a gunsmith for restoration. I have other newer and more modern shotguns but Browning's quality remains far superior, that shotgun will outlive me. On a side note I live 30 minutes away from Browning Viana factory...

Thats an incredible story. I know you have cherished it. The first one I ever saw was when I was a small child. My uncle came home with a Belgium made one. Maybe it was 1969. The gold trigger really impressed me. He showed me how it worked. I always wanted one after that. Thanks for the comment.

Good review. Was lucky enough to just pick up one of these Sweet Sixteen's today from my favorite pawn shop. Already knew they were really good shotguns from my growing up using dad's 12 gauge Belgium Browning.

I just inherited my great grandfathers sweet sixteen. It's an X serial number, the "Sweet Sixteen" engraving was after market I'm pretty sure. Belgium made 1950. My Papaw was 15. I'm not sure when he bought it though, he passed back in 2017 and I wasn't into guns at the time.

I'm not worried about the value, all of these guns are priceless to me, I will never sell them and one day when I have kids I'll let them know that I will haunt them if they sell them. 😂

I heard if you take the last 2 digits of the serial number n subtract that from 100 n its suppose to tell you the year they were made but don't hold me to it I haven't researched it

Thx for ur great demo on how to load the darn thing. I don't have one of these fine stove guns. 1. Is ur A5 Miroku (nut MirokOh, Mackerel, or even Miracle though i'd like it 2B the 2nd one) w steel or aluminum receiver? Just put magnet 2C if it sticks. 2. Same goes w the trigger guard. 3. Can u load shells from the bottom port without getting the 1st round into the chamber? If yes, how? Just keep the ejector port closed? Then, if u want to shoot, just pull the bolt handle, then push the button to close the ejector port? 4. Why did they make some without the rib, solid rib and w ventilated rib? Why nut (not) all of dem made w ventilated? Enjoyed ur excellent demo n presentation. Thx n more Thx U!

Thanks so much for your comment. I don’t know why they made different versions of it. They are really nice. Yes you can load it from the bottom as you talking about without chambering it. Flip the switch to load from the top only.

One gentleman mentioned that Browning did not manufacturer his guns. This is true. He licensed Winchester, a Belgium and Japanese company to make Browning guns. Later Portugal and the U.S. They of course had to meet his companies specifications.

WE THE PEOPLE all need to be very thankful that John Browning was on our side. Since my knowledge of these guns are pre Japan, Browning went to a flat knob on the stock in 67. Yours is a Japan made but with the pistol or round knob. I'm a bit confused as to why.
@knightingalesaid
@knightingalesaid 3 жыл бұрын
The Remington mod 11 looks like it. It had a flat knob. Mine is the Sweet Sixteen, kind of a special one. They may have made it that way for that reason. I think some commemorative one may have had the round pistol knobs too. Good observation.

@@knightingalesaid I got a beautiful 59 Sweet Sixteen being shipped from Art's Gun Shop in Hillsboro MO. It's a full restoration and will complete my collection, finally. I'm sure you've heard of Art Isaacson. He's pretty exclusive to the Browning guns. The shotgun I wish I owned is a Belgium made 410 Superposed. But you could buy a decent used car for what you'd fork out for one of them. Can't pull the trigger. Excuse the pun.
