We are boaters year-round. Have a Michigan lake house (abt 40 min south of where Manitou's are built) and on the water in Florida. I see a lot of boats. I've seen only ONE outboard rotax and that was someone that worked at a local dealership.

Hopefully someone like Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, or even Winnebago Industries could scoop up Alumacraft and Manitou. Two great brands and a total shame what BRP did. It would be great too if someone could revive Evinrude. Another blunder by BRP and a travesty with what they did to that great brand.

It will be interesting to see what happens and at what price

Hi Captain Matt. That you for saving my bacon. I was about to pull the trigger on a new Manitou Explore. I'm now looking at other brands, using your recent list of "Luxury Brands". I am finding that most brands on your list have also been acquired in recent years. Barletta, Bennington, Premier, Crest, etc. I would love for you to do a video about what affect these acquisitions are having on those brands' quality. Hurting? Helping.? Holding steady? Hopefully they are not all going to turn out like BRP and Manitou, but often acquisitions lead to short term thinking rather than long term investments. Any inside information you could share would help anyone who like me is in the market to buy. Keep up the good work!

What if evinrude is not dead? They just need the right person to revive the tooling and some of the engineering. Bring the 2-strokes back, make them good, develop a 4-stroke in the meantime for the normal revenue.
@winstonrocco1981Ай бұрын
Everyone wants a four stroke brp was stupid for building the g2 . Four stroke they might still be in business
@stwings98Ай бұрын
I think the EPA is doing everything in their power to kill 2 stroke engines.

We’re so glad we bought a 2024 Sun Chaser. But we really wanted 2022 Manitou’s Aurora 22 dealers still have brand new inventory still sitting and we’re slashing prices practically in half to dump them.
@BoatBuyersSecretWeaponАй бұрын
yep, not many folks buying them, especially with the Rotax outboard

They have not done anything for Alumacraft so will be interesting to see who buys it. Alumacraft makes a great boat, always have.
@chaddrumm6809Ай бұрын
Any person with half a brain a some boating knowledge knew the “underboard” was an obvious FAIL! It’s blatantly obvious to stay away from anything BRP! They may currently have their personal watercraft’s and snowmobiles that currently have credibility, but give it time and they’ll screw up those lines as well!

A close acquaintance is a marina manager that sells a major boat brand under BRP ownership. BRP strong arms the dealerships and forces a certain percentage of the floor plan stock to come with the Rotax outboard that nobody wants and the dealership gets stuck with it. Evinrude RIP. BRP sucks wake!
@BoatBuyersSecretWeaponАй бұрын
Yep, a pretty big dealer I know said the same thing. They dropped them the day after a Manitou dealer meeting a few years back
@Andrew-w1o3bАй бұрын
I have a Manitou Explore dual motor Rotax. Its really nice but I regret it and feel left hanging now that BRP is ditching the brand.
@BoatBuyersSecretWeaponАй бұрын
That sucks for sure

Based on what I read, the Rotax motor was not part of the proposed sale.
@BoatBuyersSecretWeaponАй бұрын
Yes and no, the Rotax motor is not included (that's BRP's bread and butter) but he Rotax "outboard" technology is -
@Chris.Corner-FLАй бұрын
@ What I read was specific to the Rotax 115/150 outboard. That BRP intends to keep it and market it to boat builders as an alternative to traditional outboards. If you have info to the contrary I’d be interested in seeing it

First line of the press release: "VALCOURT, QC, Oct. 17, 2024 /CNW/ - BRP Inc. (TSX: DOO) (NASDAQ: DOOO) today announced that it is initiating a process for the sale of its Marine businesses namely Alumacraft, Manitou, Telwater (Quintrex, Stacer, Savage and Yellowfin), and Marine parts, accessories and apparel. This process excludes all activities related to its Sea-Doo personal watercraft, Sea-Doo Switch pontoons and jet propulsion systems." The Rotax Outboard is not part of the jet propulsion system, so I assume its included in the sale. (maybe mistaken, not much additional info available)
@allind7973Ай бұрын
BRP developed the Manitou Explore model. What are your thoughts with a Suzuki outboard attached? No Rotex. Does the Explore have the same quality as the other older Manitou models?
@BoatBuyersSecretWeaponАй бұрын
I’ve never inspected one however if you care about resale it will depend on who buys them and what they do with the brand

great decision... but yes, that swim platform is fantastic but a hard pass on the Rotax outboard
