BRS 8A - A camp stove from China. Basic operation and review.

The Chinese camp stove BRS 8A, also known as the TK800A, is very similar to the Optimus Nova stove. It is also similar to the Brunton Lander and Kovea Booster+ stoves. It is a multi-fuel stove, using eith butane or white gas (Coleman fuel). Some people think kerosene can be used, but not full strength. In this video I show how to light the stove and I use a mixture of kerosene and white gas to fuel it (probably a 30-70% ratio, kero to white gas).

Dear Bill, if you look just under the vaporising tube you will see a small dish affair connected on three sides this is for preheating the tube before letting any compressed fuel through, only bout a teaspoon/tablespoon full will do, light it let it burn out then let the compressed fuel through (open the taps) this will aid burn and help eliminate that spluttering you get on first light up, Hope this may help, Regards from the UK

Robert Kirk can you use methalated spirit in the preheat. When heating kerosene. Because the kerosene won't burn it needs a wick right. Also my stove came with another jet. I don't know if it's a spare or one for gas canister. There is one on the stove already. And the manual is in Chinese fantastic 😂

you need to screw in the hose onto the stove first then onto the flask. The flask has a rotation connector operated by the red knob. Heavier fuels (like kerosene and diesel (I presume WVO too) needs the nozzle replaced. I believe a second nozzle should have come with the stove. The #30 for light fuels and the #35 for the heavier ones... I have seen a video of a (I believe Turkish chap) who made a silencer from a metal bottle cap (youtube knows about it)

I have two of these stove when they hit the market around six years ago or so Ebay $12.00 for the stove and hose I had to buy the cheap pump. Three things that I don't like. One are the hoses, after time the compression fittings made of aluminum will fail, mainly at the stove end from heat the stainless braided rubber hose underneath will slip out of the end. I doubled some heavy shrink tubing at that end of a new hose and has been good so far. Two the fitting to the stove needs to be tight the wrench that comes with this kit is not a tight fit and will strip the brass fitting, but it must be tight. The new models I see have the hose fitted to the stove permanently. Three The pump although it works good at first is a POS and will fail when you don't need it too, leaks. I bought a Primus Ergopump problem solved. So at the cost of these with the full kit and things that could go wrong I would buy a Primus, Optimus or MSR stove. The stove with this kit is a Bomber it has never failed me but it does have some unnecessary weight. I did wrap brass wire around the vaporizer tube to transfer the heat quicker to the tube, that bumped it up a notch! Its the other parts mainly the pump a poor quality as expected, the hose I give it a small break can be worked with the valves last a long time.

hi, I have one. The one worked well for a few weeks and gas does not come out. I CLEANED the nozzle, but fuel does not come out.

Mine works for more than 9 years (since 2010) you have to pull the wire outside of the gaz generator pipe to take away carbon and clean the nozzle. You will have to change with the time the hose, the knob and the pump but the cost will be cheaper than for an optimus ou msr who will have the same troubles.

I don't believe so. It's supposed to be multi fuel, but I think the only reliable fuels would be white gas and butane.
