People have probably already said this but when he says "don't you believe them", he is telling us not to believe the people that say that's the way it is and it will never change. When Tupac sampled this, when Tupac sampled this, he changed the meaning by leaving that line out.

You are on a roll with your song choices! A joy to watch! I remember the first time hearing “Changes” at first thinking it was this song starting then realizing it was a whole new take. I thought it was brilliant. Tupac was a brilliant deep artist. I also listen to a lot of blues artists that often take classic song structures, riffs and change lyrics to bring new ideas and stories to the music. I am also fascinated with how different musicians bring their own soul to a piece of music giving a whole new life to it.

This whole album is phenomenal! Update (as usual after watching reaction): So I used to hate the sampling, but mostly cause I didn’t understand it. Now as a more seasoned veteran of life, I’m learning to respect the sampling process and how it can enhance the message of the original and bring it to a wider audience. That said, I think you should do a double reaction. Ice-T and his group Body Count just did a sample on Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” with not only the blessing of PF Guitar and Vocalist David Gilmore , and Former PF Bassist, and Vocalist Roger Waters (which is amazing in itself to get both to agree), but Gilmore reached back out and said he wanted to play on their version. The result is flipping great. I say watch the 2005 PF reunion Live 8 version, and then do the Body Count Official Video together. I think it would be a great reaction and open eyes that might not open otherwise!

I can totally relate to your comment Kevin, as I too initially disliked sampling, then came around to having great respect for Tupac & others for as you said, bringing it to a wider audience. I’m not a fan of “sampling”. But I’m old school. And I’ve looked at the other song’s lyrics and they don’t seem to mean the same thing at all. “I see no changes, all I see are racist faces” & they say “things will never be the same” & they use vile language and racial slurs, that would not be acceptable in other music genres. I just don’t get it. But to each his own.

First and foremost, as long as the original creator of the music being sampled is properly compensated, actually liking the "new"creation is up to the individual. But the technology is not going backwards and if it's available and recreation is inspired it will happen.

@@AJimiDigginKat I really couldn't care less whether the original creator is being compensated, though of course they should be. I'm more distressed by the lack of originality and creativity. Just my opinion: I've never liked rap mainly b/c of sampling. The utilization of sampling does not introduce the original music/artists to a new audience of listeners. It makes listeners think the tunes they're using are original. Most people don't research music/artists they listen to. Why would they, unless they are curious enough to know? If you're hearing a song for the first time you probably wouldn't think to question how it came to be. - At least you looked it up, thanks.
@SaeedReacts.17 күн бұрын
Definitely valid points you are making. Most casual listeners will not look that up. The rappers i grew up with always gave credit to the original artists in interviews, so a lot of the times that is how i found out a sample was being used. In some cases even because the original artist talked about the fact that they liked that the sample was used and introduced to a new audience. Same could be said for covers. I have done a few reactions on Patreon to The Beatles first albums that contains quite a few covers. A lot of people don't know they are covers, but just think they are Beatles song. Big music fans do know they are covers. But i definitely understand your thoughts about it and i agree with the points you made.

Where racism is concerned: I grew up, and live, in the southern US. Its a funny thing, really. Before trumpism, it was becoming a joke. Oh there were folks still racist, but they were just jokes. Racist kind of curiosity, (like I wonder about the hair styles), but fear and hatred was going away. It was rude, and unacceptable, to hate a "group" of people. Sure, some folks still did it, but most folks kept it to themselves, if they felt that way. If you don't like black folks, or gay folks, just stay away from them. No problem. Who cares? Your loss. Now, trump has made it just fine and dandy to fear and hate this or that. This song reminds us of the stupidity of seperating ourselves.

I am not a racist and I voted for Trump. Many black people did as well. The alternative of Biden or Harris was not an option for me. The USA can't take the inflation and all the wars.
