I did this step for many years, but what Bruce is actually doing he called "the burst." I have a ton of respect for you which is why I'm telling you this. Push off the rear foot, don't replace like that. Push like the straight lead. Pull with your front foot. Your front foot will be on the ground pulling creating tension. It looks almost identical to the pendulum, but Bruce is creating much more speed and power. These small mechanical changes are hard at first, but you will see how much faster and more powerful your kicks can be. Happy training.

Im interested with your comment bro,, but can you make it clearer since im not be able to get the picture of it.

Jeremy Latham thank you for your comment. I’m familiar with this step and it’s an additional part to the pendulum. It’s the same burst for the sidekick to push more forward momentum and you’re right although similar it’s actually a different technique that is not what I was going for. I can make a burst step video with the kick you mean. Thank you again for respectfully speaking. I’m always open to constructive criticism. :) 🙏

@@azmighiyas163 sorry for the delayed response. It's hard to describe. I have a video of me doing it then me doing it in slow motion. I'm not a public person but if you look me up on facebook I can link you to that video and give you more instruction. Jun Fan JKD uses the burst for all lead leg kicks, and the pendulum to retreat. So I'd advise learning the correct technique if you want to stay pure to Bruce. JKD unfortunately has been polluted. Jeremy James Latham on fb, friend me or message me.

@@jeremyjameslatham5094 how do you move your back foot without pulling with your front foot? im so confused. im pretty sure the foot on the ground is whats allowing the stability chain to give your back leg something to pull on, that is, all force comes from the ground. if you lift your back leg, of course force is coming from the front leg. are you talking about his running pendulum kick? yes any running movement involves pulling with your front feet more than a standing movement....what are you even on about, stay pure to bruce? he told you to think for yourself im pretty sure. youre just disrespecting his name dropping it like that for your nonsense theories. speed and force isnt coming from pulling with your front foot anymore than it would just charging in, in which case, your power is coming from increased committment. less committment doesnt mean wrong, most of the time its good. thats why the straight punch is preferred in wing chun and jkd and in certain situations in boxing, because while it sacrifices power, it makes up for it with balance and speed. committment is not always a good thing, but lees work was refined in a lot of points sparring contexts, where overcommittment wasnt a bad thing as long as you struck first. his theories on self defense and ending real fights quick, didnt end up working in practice, based on the past century of video surveillance capturing fights, between people trained in all manner of techniques and otherwise, and modern sports fighting that allow all of his techniques and more to be pressure tested one on one, as well as now in group mma matches 3 on 3 and 5 on 5. fights are almost never ended quickly by a single strike, if they were its because the attacker was the aggressor and got a cheap shot. putting all your energy into one super fast super strong strike, is not a great way of representing a legitimate martial art. this guys technique is far more practical, than anything you are selling. if bruce lee was alive today, he would be talking less than you, and reflecting on his past work.

Not to sound cocky though I'm always humbled by other styles and knowledge. I'm getting killed in BJJ for instance. Anyways - I wish I had the business sense that some of you youtube martial arts teachers have. Would be awesome to be able to meet up with you, Enkamp, Dewey, Seth, Chan...you know - the it crew for youtube martial arts. I don't want fame I just want to be able to constantly focus on what I love. You guys are all making it work. Cheers!

And remember, chucky did NOT teach Bruce Lee the high kick, Bruce Lee taught chucky how to better perform the high kick. chucky is so over rated. Granted, he was karate champion, but he's NO Bruce Lee. karate students and masters knew both chucky and Bruce Lee and trained and sparred with them. Joe Lewis learned a ton from Bruce Lee because he was humble enough to learn and take advice from him. chucky hasn't been and isn't humble. he thinks he knows everything there is to know about martial arts just because he's been karate champion in tournaments, which is STILL VERY GOOD, but Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do is NOT for sport or tournaments, it's to win fights, street fights, and self defense to help you survive, thrive, and live and get out of bad situations. There's fighting for and in sports with rules, point systems, time, referees, and judges, one on one so it's fair, same weight these days, and fighting for REAL LIFE scenarios, fighting to survive, live, and getting out of situations. Combat martial arts is all together different from sports, tournament martial arts. In REAL LIFE, on the street, belts, trophies, and awards will NOT keep you alive. Bruce Lee was and is STILL the BEST and GREATEST of ALL TIME, EVER, SECOND TO NONE, HANDS DOWN!!!! Called the Father of mixed martial arts for a reason, and developing from Wing Chun Kung Fu his own style, practical, life applying Jeet Kune Do. THANK YOU, BRUCE LEE!!!! Other karate masters even said "NO one could beat Bruce Lee.

I always wondered where you're striking when you kick? Are you striking for instance in this video with your inside foot or lower shin? Can you do a video on that topic? What the benefits are with kicking striking your inside foot, heel ball of your feet shin. In addition their advantages and disadvantages.
@SifuNate4 жыл бұрын
jonny smith There are three places you can use to strike with. I will make a video! For the answer now it’s the ball of the foot, the instep and the shin. In this video I’m using the instep. That means the ankle bone on top of the foot and part of the lower shin.

Since Jeet Kune Do schools are hard to find, is it possible to do it self-taught and have a friend to do it with me later? Either force stretch like everyone does, or keep kicking high till you get it, what that does is it will contract some muscles on the thighs and naturally loosen it.

the pendulum kick is designed so that the wing chun practitioner can engage his opponent with six gates instead of three. The jkd man attacks with three gates and penetrates with three gates. Not better or worse than wing chun just a diferent way of expressing one self.

Pls make a detailed video on how to perform the lead roundhouse. Bcs many people just can't seem to get it right.

What's the point of distracting your opponent with a blow to the head and then hitting him in the head, because usually you need to distract to another level. For example, we distract with a blow to the stomach and hit him in the head, or vice versa. And in your case, it turns out that we are telling our opponent that our blow will go to the head.

cool in concept, but one of the least practical moves lee is known for. bottom line, the marginal possible advanrage of hiding the rear foot placement(which can be hidden in a number of other ways with just good footwork, counters and combinations mind you) doesnt outweight the horrible balance at every point of the technique from begining to end. balance is the first and most important part of a fight, and the source of your power. the momentum of your body even if this was done as the iconic running pendulum kick, is nothing compared to the force of the ground foot, pushing up into your kick foot as it strikes. the idea of the lunging or flying side kick is an aesthetic, holywood creation, and one that saw a period of use in early american karate(which lee was a part of, this is clearly a points sparring technique not applicable anywhere else), before anyone knew how to defend it. now people do. and its now just a historic artifact more or less. why you will never see this technique used in kickboxing, outside of points sparring, and even then since things like head shots are usually banned from points fighting sports, you lose your first distraction the strikes to the face. if your sneaky move with less power than virtually any of the ordinary common kicks used, needs another sneaky move to make it more sneaky, then its just too variable to count on, and not worth it. best case scenario its landed, and its a mediocre kick with poor momentum balance and framing. a simple round kick would have been better, hide it with a quick shuffle. sometimes the bruce myth and his showmanship conflicts with jkd and wing chun principles of simplicity. this is one good example of that. great theoretical contribution to the art of fighting of course, it was at best an experimental concept that was then tested and found wanting.
