make a video about how to dodge every single punch (hook - upper - straight - jab) not just one at the same time but all of them
@SifuNate

Sure, it would be about applying all types of slips at the right timing and using constant phasing movements. This will definitely go in the more advanced follow up videos. Thanks for the comment

How would a Wing Chun Chain punch do? 3 chain punches should work. You attempt to parry the first jab, if it is a feint, you get a free hit, if the opponent follows up with a cross, your straight can also block it, if your opponent doesn't follow up, you get a free hit. Using the free hit, you can start an inside fight where you have the advantage.

0:53 This is not realistic...you can not block punches with body mass behind them with a palm. The punches are not real in the demo because the guy is only punching with his hands no body behind it.

@@mortgagefinancing5558 delusional to what? Bro just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean it’s not possible. I’ve been fighting for 18+ years, I am 25 now. From karate tournaments, to the boxing ring, competing at high levels. (winning tournaments and lots and lots of sparring). My dad started us out in martial arts as toddlers, and trained us in boxing at home. Introduced me to Bruce Lee early and taught us things from his book. So much game in those books but people don’t read because they think Bruce Lee wasn’t a fighter because he wasn’t on pay per view. As I got older we got away from martial arts and were in the boxing ring every day. The same techniques from JKD have had me 10 steps ahead of most people in the boxing ring. It’s because of my defense and hand speed. It’s a combination of footwork, head movement, range, and redirecting, not catching a punch with your palm. These same hand taps and tricks can be done in gloves. I’ve used it and seen it work against all kinds of opponents. It works, you just have to be able to apply it.

Ninja Nate I think he's a big deal since forever ago only because so many people are bad and he knows. I remember him explaining complex kung fu things you'd think people would know but they don't. That said I've found the dodges in boxing are actually superficial as all techniques are as interchangeable as they are dispensable ... The shoulder pop is good if you WANT that but it's not so basic to say always shoulder pop. That's in boxing. The important thing is of you move off of a line be ready with what you WANT that's what's important. Man I remember him teaching Wing Chun and Shaolin back in the day he was good! Shaolin has always had dodging. Technically wing Chun doesn't need dodging ... Because it covers to bridge ... And doesn't prefer to counter from range, so it's not even needed ... But ... Let's be real, you should switch tactics as you go!

I'll take the bullet as the first dislike. Namely, you might dodge that jab or you might not. Jabs are scouts, and diversion. JKD wise you ain't jabbing. WC wise you ain't jabbing. In both scenarios you decide if you are out boxing the boxer or out fighting him. Both are viable, but don't expect to slap hands or even a wrist. The acceleration is just to high for such a small target. Aim for blocking with your forearm via Pak Sao or Bong Sao style. The analogy is like blocking a sword tip with a sword tip, it just will never happen. Jabs can also be simple feints. Best to practice minor footwork in this defense rather than hand slapping. Master Wong also does the elbow chicken wing defense. It's not useless but lengthens the time to get back into an offensive position.

@SifuNate 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting, you are right about the parry depending on the skill level of the two people. Its not impossible to block the wrist or fist but as long as you are doing pak down mid-line you will catch it somewhere along the arm and yes the forearm is easier to block at and sometimes send energy back into the person. When you watch it again I do block in different locations and when he's punching faster it sometimes blocks closer to the elbow. Also you are thinking to use something like biu ji to block using the forearm which I mentioned in the previous video but even then people fail to see the effectiveness in it. I could have redone that since to me it also is a very effective block but the video was long enough and I already covered it recently. All techniques will have their pros and cons, it depends on the situation and what you train and works best for you and your strategy or opponent. I'll just show the possible variations and you can make the choice to use them or discard them once you've gone through the process of training and testing.

@@SifuNate I won't even quote myself on the parry names. 😄 All I know is the Pak and the Bong are the most common ones used. Keep up the fun material. Not many autodidacts out there that have a good mind for tearing this stuff apart into good info.
