Enjoyed the video? Subscribe, Give it a Thumbs Up and Comment Below. (Dan actually reads EVERY single legit comment from his loyal fans) Don't like the video? If you would be so kind as to FUCK OFF, it would be very much appreciated. You don't have to watch any of Dan's videos.

What a gift this is. Me Judo at 13 in in 1973 Shoryn Ryu Karate, at 14, Kajumbo and Wing Chun Gung Fu in my early twenties. This is inspiring my return to martial arts.

Good lord, Dan. Your Sifu is bloody fast. I'm glad to see such a great martial art is being passed down and instructed by able and intelligible people with speed and mobility and mind! Love your videos, and I learn something from them every day.

Dan, the quality of your videos is incredible. Sometimes I wonder how awesome was Bruce Lee to create all of this. Every day I'm reading about the philosophy of JKD, I'm really amazed. Thank you so much for this work with sifu Octavio!! I'm showing to all my friends in Brazil!

THE PURPOSE OF CHI SAO - is (1) to MONITOR (in real time) your opponent's intentions/direction/energy - THE FORWARD HAND in the stance is called THE INQUIRING HAND, purpose of which is to "MAKE THE BRIDGE' which puts you in immediate contact to FEEL WHAT'S COMING (quicker, more immediate then 'seeing'). At some initial point "his" hands/arms are in CONTACT with yours - you can SENSE moment-to-moment his intentions AND (2) control/divert/trap his hands/arms. Until you 'make the bridge' you're guessing - this is how/why advanced students practice BLINDFOLDED - contact with the opponent tells you everything you need to know - quicker. I studied with Hawkens a classmate of Lee's in Hong Kong with Yip Mann - thx

Dan will make a darn good Sifu. In all the videos I have seen he takes time to stop and explains everything properly. You noticed That? Yeah he makes sure you understands before Sifu Octavio explains the next move even if it means stopping Sifu.

Dan, should I be in the JKD footwork with the back leg as a spring.? I noticed that sifu Octavio and sifu Dan were kind of in that position but the left foot was relaxed. Also, love the intro of the video.

iv been watching your videos and you and your sifu are amazing idk if you have one out yet i at least have yet to find it i have a big problem with ground fighting with wing chun and jkd theres not alot that you see on the ground aside from your opponent if all goes right iv been practicing wing chun on the side unfortunately without a sifu i was in Grandmaster Villaris school of shaolin kempo karate and asked to learn wing chun which i was showed alot of but ground fighting has been my weakness and still is if you could show some techniques for if it does unfortunately get to being on the ground that would be awesome aside from that keep it up you and your sifu are the best iv seen also if possible im in illinois if you could suggest a wing chun school that would be great by far my favorite style and jkd is becoming more and more of an interest of mine also i know you have some videos but i have encountered a stopping period in my speed increasing if you have tips on how to push forwards that would be great thank you so much and never stop

Although I agree having a sifu show you in person is best, not everyone has the privilege of an instructor or training partner. So learning from a video is better than nothing.

It's just something you have to do with a partner. Even with an instructor it takes time and repetition before you get the feel of exercises like these

Can I use my head tp strike the enemy if I'm able to lock the hands and before his foot moves?
@marsbase3729
@marsbase3729 5 жыл бұрын
I would say if you can easily strike the opponents nose, but you need to be careful not to strike any hard part of their head with yours otherwise you will be just as hurt. (Unless you do Shaolyn Iron Head training or something 😂)

Great video man. Do you have any tips for applying chi sao principles from a distance or as a single counter perhaps, like against a jab or straight. I really like the principle and want to work it into my striking. Thanks

Damien Bynum in order for chi sao to work the arms/ legs, need to be touching Bro. It's a sensitivity drill use to redirect opponents energy or weight: pressure. You can close the gap, but it's not for long distance. I know ya didn't ask me but I instruct also. Just my perspective. Peace.
