@Akuma.69 sadly true. I don’t think Shannon is really in tune or concerned with what the fans really want to see. The only thing I see her promoting nowadays is the warrior series, (not taking anything away from that because it is a good quality show), but all in all promotion of that show benefits her. Releasing the Game of Death completed won’t really benefit her like that but only the fans. Hopefully she wakes up and becomes more selfless.

@xtrmst_012 please elaborate why it would be an insult if all the production notes, original screenplay, and storyboards are still exist for reference? Why it would be an insult if a possible new movie would be a tribute to Lee as the film would finally be showcasing Lee's philosophical views in martial arts in the silver screen? Take the tv series Warrior for example. Based from Lee's original idea but he is not even the star of the series.

I remember years ago in 2016 when I was a sophomore in high school, I really dug into Bruce Lee a lot, and I was really interested in writing a screenplay based on Bruce's Game, and this bonus feature from the Warrior's Journey DVD was the basis I was using for my script. But I never found a way to really make the script that good as it went for years and years with attempts until... In 2020, when the pandemic had hit and the lockdown was starting, and I was trying to work on a spec script project which didn't work, so I had to choose something to work on or else I'll go nuts during the lockdown, so I thought about The Game of Death project I attempted very years back, which I had begun the script from March 14 and had it finished on the first of April. It was taking time to figure what the script in my mind would be like. At first it was a attempted failure to write the script to really achieving it with writing half and half of what was either my stuff and Bruce's material (which I used the scene breakdown and choreography notes that were from the Warrior's Journey book by you...). Of the spec script projects I worked on, I thought The Game of Death is my favorite of all...

Hi John, hope you are well! I wrote you here about 4-5 months ago and thanks again for your reply! You cant get enough praise for "A Warriors Journey"! :) About Gene LeBell: I have something i would like to share with you: After watching a video from Viking Samurai with Hollywood stuntman George Pogacich again, i think i know now what s the true story about Lee and LeBell, or at least it makes the most sense from all: LeBell proved actually he was lying, because the real indicdent took place during filming "Ironside" and not "Green Hornet". Pogacich has first hand informations about the Hollywood stunt scene since he is a well known stuntman, and he stated LeBell's original story was he took Lee over his shoulder while they were doing a stunt together, and then he refused to take Lee down again. Watch the two in "Ironside", there is actually a fight scene in which Gene's character "Karate student" takes Bruce's character "Leon Soo" over his shoulder, but Leon comes back to his feet and kicks Karate student to the floor. This incident completely matches what Pogacich and LeBell described, but first of all it wasnt a fight, second it was done during filming a scene when Karate student had to take Leon Soo over his shoulder, and third it had nothing to do someone called up LeBell to teach Lee a lesson or what ever, that was all fabricated nonsesnse and lies by Mr. LeBell (RiP!). The fact alone that LeBell stated it was during Green Hornet, when in fact it most probably was during Ironside, shows you Gene changed many things making him look like the guy who "beat" Bruce/Junfan Lee. And the reason why LeBell said it was Green Hornet is simple: Because Lee was there for nine months and 26 episodes, while Ironside he was only in 1 episode, so the story about: "The stuntchief called me (Gene) up to teach Bruce a lesson" wouldnt have worked. Lee's appearance in "Ironside" was only 2 minutes or so, and i am sure he filmed that scene in 1-2 days. This sounds the most logical from all. And it's so cheap and laughable how people made it out like LeBell defeated Lee in a real fight or something. If a do a movie with Conor McGregor and the script says my character takes his character over his shoulder, of course he will let me take him over my shoulder because its the movie plot, and if i then make a joke and dont put him down again, then i can later claim "i defeated Conor McGregor in a fight. I took him over my shoulder and he couldnt do anything against it", of course only if all witnesses and he himself die before me. Here is the scene i am talking about.kzbin.info/www/bejne/aofYqmWZesqggMk

Although it wouldn't be the same: it's completely possible to "complete" this film. We have martial artists like Donnie Yen who could perform in certain scenes for the action (where it is missing), and also look-alikes/great actors and/or impersonators who could stand in for the great Bruce Lee and then use the best "deepfake" and CGI for the face and body in scenes where Lee's character only needs to speak and move around very little. There's also the AI voice technology which is out there right now and already pretty d*mn good! (Kenobi series, I couldn't tell if it was the iconic James Earl Jones or not speaking the lines of Darth Vader). With all the footage I've seen - it seems like most of the movie has been shot. Perhaps 60% - 80% of the action? It would be very interesting to at least see the release of an " original concept movie" .

Hi John, since this is the Bruce video with the most clicks on your YT channel, i gonna post here (again). "Wrath of the Dragon" is incredible! This was the book we really needed for many many years. Your research about it was fantastic, congrats again! Here are some things i want to share with you, the subject is Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Gene LeBell and other things. They are/were all so good in talking BS about Bruce, lets bring up some questions about them: 1) Something in general about Point Karate (not about Lee, only in general). Here are some fight records compared to professional Boxers and Muay Thai fighters: Sam Langford (Boxer): 314 fights Saenchai (Muay Thai): 378 fights Skipper Mullins (Point Karate): 1115 fights I am not absolute sure, but i think Langford and Saenchai are among the fighters with the most bouts across all full contact combat sports. I couldnt find anyone in Boxing or Muay Thai with 400 bouts and more. This should underline how "dangerous" Point Karate is compared to Boxing or Muay Thai. Langford and Saenchai togehter had 692 fights. Mullin's doesnt double that, but over 1100 fights just shows how much damage your body takes in Point Karate. World Champion in Point Karate doesnt make someone a tough guy, a skilled guy in a certain skill contest yes, but not tough or relevant to full contact combat sport or street fights (only adressed to the milenium kids on YT who always claim "Chuck Norris was a real fighter"). Kenpo Karate founder Ed Parker Senior’s record as „fighter“ is 0-0-0. Still he is regarded a martial arts legend, great MA Instructor, and very effective street fighter. Not one of the Point Karate Champions from back in the day ever challenged his status or challenged him. Parker Sr. about Point Karate: „Tournament Karate is not full contact Karate. The idea is to execute a Karate technique with full control. You win matches by outscoring your opponent, not by killing them.“ This should underline the Point Karate Champions like Norris, Moore etc. never executed their strikes with full power, and the goal was to outscore the opponent, not by hurting them. And it underlines Point Karate wasn’t full contact, so Norris etc. were never full contact fighters. Take a look at (full) professional Soccer player Pelé (1940-2022), who was born the same year as Norris and Lee. During the 1960s he was badly injured many times and had to take longer breaks to recover. Back in the day yellow and red cards didn’t exist, and you could attack opponents very hard. Pelé suffered many leg injuries through heavy kicks to his legs. Compare his injury list with Point Karate Fighters. Pelé was much more injured as them, even if he was a Soccer player and not a combat sport fighter. 2) Were Lewis etc. real World Champoins in Kickboxing or not? A couple weeks ago a new video was uploaded about former Pro Boxer Randall "Tex" Cobb. He fought George Foreman once but also Earnie Shavers. In the beginning of the clip, the narrator (Navy Seal Jocko Willink) says Cobb won 1980 the first ever world tournament in kickboxing. How could Lewis, Bill Wallace etc. be World Champions in Kickboxing in the 1970s when the first real world tournament in Kickboxing was held in 1980? So if this is true (i cant check it out), then even American Kickboxers like Lewis, Wallace etc. were never real World Champions. 3) Were Point Karte World Champions really world champions? Bill Wallace to you (John): "Back in those days, you could go to Chicago, fighting three guys from Chicago, and be crowned as world champion." So it seems these "World Championships" werent real World Championships. 4) Bob Wall Bob Wall (RiP!) claimed him and Lee were best friends: Fact is Lee only spoke once about Wall, and it was negative. He was asked by someone why he hires that guy (Wall) always? And he said: "Because he gets hit so damn good." Not just Matt Polly but also former Lee histotrian George Tan pointed that out, i mean ppl said Lee never liked Wall so much. But Wall made a career claiming he was Lee's close friend. And in a video podcast in 2018 he even claimed what Lee would do in the late 60s, he himself and LeBell already did in the early 60s. 4) Gene LeBell Yes we know what a fish Seagal is, and yes we know he lied many times, but there were indeed some people who wanted to find out if LeBell actually has a black belt in the original japanese Jūdō. They checked out any Kōdōkan, Nippon Budōkan, Judokai etc. and couldnt find one black belt. The Kōdōkan is the headquater of the world wide Jūdō community, and any black belt is listed there. LeBells Wiki article list him as: 10th degree red belt in Judo 9th degree black belt in Jujutsu 10th degree black belt in Kyokushin Budokai Kyokoshin Budokai is the style which was founded by dutch Jon Bluming. I have no doubts LeBells 10th degree in Kyokushin Budokai is legit, and i dont know if his 9th degree black belt in Jujitsu is legit. But is 10th degree red belt (highest rank) in Jūdō is very sceptical! Notice: Jūdō = the original japanese writing when romanized to western alphabet, founded by JIgoro Kano Judo = western version, but not the original style which was founded by Kano. So it can be LeBell only has a 10th degree red belt in american Judo, but not in the original art from Japan named Jūdō. And this would be very cheap since his nickname was Judo Gene LeBell. It would be a total gag if he never studied Jūdō but called himself Judo Gene. But since he told so many stories from which many are not true, i woudnt be surprised. Go here on YT for Steven Seagal Bruce Lee Haters and you gonna find a video when Steven talks about Tarantino and LeBell. And he pointed out LeBell made his entire career in lying about who he beat up. Buttom line: These guys talked negative about Lee from time to time. No problem. But as you see, they arent flawless too.

Cool, finally i see you are on YT. The Warriors Journey doc about GOD is untouchable! You know John, today its sad to see people are still using these fake war cries from the 1978, when Billy Lo (Kim Tai-chung) sounds like a crying cow, i cant stand it. All these new redux things etc., nobody needs that. I always recommend your AWJ doc to uninformed young guys who believe all the Tarantino BS. BTW your interview with Sifu Alex Richter about Bruce's real fights is so great! Ive watched it counteless times and especially the thing with Chuck, Lewis, etc. is a must watch for anybody. Same with Wall. You didnt mention him there, but George Tan did a research in the late 80s and he found out that Joey Orbillo even threatned Wall at some point since he was talking lies about Bruce with this Albert Goldman journalist. Fact is Bruce ever spoke one time about Wall, and on the question why he always would use him in his movies, he replied: "Because the guy gets hit so damn good." Yet Wall acted his whole life he was such a close friend of Bruce, when in reality it looks Bruce never liked him very much. But so or so RiP Bob Wall! I really hope more young ppl are watching the Warriors Journey doc. Your edit of GOD is by far the best, and ppl who think Chuck, Lewis and these guys were on the same level or even better then Bruce will see this isnt true at all. Same with Gene LeBell. I never bought his story with Lee. He was way too slow to grab him, an Elephant has a better chance to catch a Cheetah as Gene has a chance to catch Bruce (if Bruce is in fighting mode). Also to him RiP, but you can like or dislike Steven Seagal, but he was right when he said LeBell was a pathological liar. Steven was never choked out by him. The Stuntmen Steven Lambert and Conrad Palmissano who are both first hand witnesses said in 2021 it wasnt true. LeBell was though but he made much of his career in lying who he beat up. Honestly John: I feel today Bruce wasted his time with Hollywood! Maybe if had lived al ittle longer, he would have relized it himself. Still to this day there is no place for an Oriental to be a star. Look how Jet Li prostituted himself in "The Expandables" with Stallone. His character Ying Yang is a joke, and Dolph Lundgren as Gunnar easy beats the s.. out of him. I understand Jackie Chane why he refused to be in it. And when you see how it is today, Tarantino lies about Lee, Freddie Prinze jr. lies about Seagal, repeating the story which his godfather Bob Wall told him 1000 times, that Gene choked Steven out, even if it was never true, etc. Hollywood has become a place of liars, perverts and defenders of rapists (Tarantino defends Weinstein to this day), and when you see how far Jackie and Jet made it there, its clear they still dont have place for Asiens to be the main Protagonists of movies.

@@HEAVYDUTYCOLLEGE are you John Little?

Hi John, hope you are well! I was thinking if i should contact you because of it, but i guess it's the best way. Your WOTD book is so much in talk, and people around the world absolutely love it. Sure it has it's detractors too, but this is normal. The reason why i write you: There is an alleged quote by Lee Faulkner, that he invited Bruce to fight in a full-contact match, and Bruce declined. Of course this is the food for the haters or people who try to see him first and foremost as actor, and only some kind of hobby martial artist. This is the quote: "I'm the person that promoted the first Kickboxing Event in the U.S.A . Joe was the only Karate person who was willing to participate in the Event. I ask all the well know Karate Champions even Bruce Lee to participate and the only other person Joe and I found was Gregg Baines . That was why there were only one match at the event . The only other Black Belt Champion willing to fight full contact was Ed Daniels from Dallas , Texas. These two guys are the real Champions and willing to put it all on the line . I had a great deal of respect for Joe, ED and Gregg . Everyone was against this Event . BlackBelt Mag. would not help promotion it . There will never be another Joe . (Lee Faulkner)" To me this sounds a bit like this "I taught BL grappling" stuff (LeBell) etc.. PS: Since english isnt my first language, maybe you mentioned Faulkner in the WOTD book at somen point, but i cant remember. If so sorry. But its always more difficult to read something in a foreign language and remember every word. Cheers from Germany, Chris

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the first kickboxing event in the USA. Larry Hartsell competed in a kickboxing event in 1968, and Bruce coached him for that. In truth, both of these events were when full contact sport karate was in its infancy, and the fighters weren’t nearly as adept at it as they would later become. There is no evidence of Bruce was invited to compete in that tournament, and even if he was, he didn’t believe he had anything to prove. He was more interested in making money from acting, than winning a trophy at a tournament - particularly when he had sparred people like Joe Lewis, and didn’t feel threatened. by what he encountered in that realm.

@@HEAVYDUTYCOLLEGEThx! A couple weeks ago i saw your great podcast with Randy Roach on "Carved Outta Stone", and a couple days later the KZbinr "Stripey Rambles" produced a video about that Lee-Ali thing (the John Hardy interview), and in the past weeks he produced three videos's more about Chuck Norris, Gene LeBell and Quentin Tarantino, and he mentions you in all of them. Those video's got a very positive feedback so far. And the majority of viewer's says thanks that you finally published the WOTD book, but also your so well and detailed informations about the contradictions of LeBell, Tarantino, etc.. That was about time :)! Speaking about LeBell: There are two things which people always should consider: 1) Bruce Lee: We all know Bennie Dobbins died in 1988, and there is no record, be it on video, audio or in writing, that LeBell ever made these claims during the time Bennie was still alive. Be it the "Bennie called me up to teach Bruce a lesson", or "I took Bruce over my shoulder" etc. LeBell began with these things in the 90s. The question that anyone should ask: Why didnt he say all of this when Dobbins was still alive? To me the answere is obvious: Because he knew it was all made up by himself, and Dobbins would expose it as lie in a blink of a second. In fact there is a scene with Bruce and Gene in "Ironside". Bruce played a guy named "Leon Soo", and LeBell "karate student". In the short fight, karate student takes Leon over his shoulder, but Leon comes back to his feet and kicks karate student to the floor. I could imagine very well this scene was the one LeBell was talking about. But it wasnt on the Green Hornet but Ironside instead. The fact alone that LeBell stated it was during "Green Hornet", when in fact it most probably was during "Ironside", shows you Ivan Gene LeBell changed many things. And the reason why LeBell said it was Green Hornet is simpel: Because Lee was there for nine months and 26 episodes, while Ironside he was only in 1 episode, so the story about: "The stuntchief Bennie E. Dobbins called me [Gene] up to teach Bruce a lesson" wouldnt have worked. Lee's appearance in "Ironside" was only 2 minutes or so, and i am sure he filmed that scene in 1-2 days. And Dobbins wasnt even involved in "Ironside". So it seems very likely Lee and LeBell had this one shoulder throw scene in "Ironside", and one little scene in "The Green Hornet", there was no call from Dobbins, there was no "teaching him a lesson", there was no "student-teacher relationship" between them afterwards. I wouldnt even be surprised if Bruce and Gene never met afterwards again, never saw each other again, never spoke again. Only met twice on Green Hornet and Ironside, and nothing more. 2) Steven Seagal: In 1992, LeBell gave an interview in the Black Belt Magazine. He spoke about that 13 Dozend thing with Bob Wall and the others, and that he pulled out of it because it would give him a bad reputation. This was in 1992. And in his story about choking out Seagal on that movie Out For Justice was in 1990 or 1991, so just 1-2 years earlier. So why didnt he mention in a 1992 interview that he choked out Seagal just 1 or 2 years earlier? Because it did never happen. He began to made taht story up many years later, like he did in the Lee case. PS: Seagal did the same. I am sure you know he always says he knew Bruce personally, and they met in Jim Coburn's house around 1970/71, when Steven was just 17-19 years old. But in 2021, a video emerged which states Seagal is currently 34 years old, so it was recorded between April 1986 and April 1987. Then Coburn is there, saying: "About 3 years ago, i met Steven Seagal, and we became very close friends." Means: About 3 years ago was 1983/84. So how could Steven and Bruce met at Coburn's house in 1970/71, when Coburn said in 86/87 he met Seagal about 3 years ago? Lie exposed. And funny is there is also no record Seagal ever said he knew Lee personally during the time Coburn was still alive, he passed away in late 2002. Bruce was no saint, no. But these people are/were all damn good at lying.

Warriors journey didnt tell this final... is this scripted?
@HEAVYDUTYCOLLEGE7 ай бұрын
Yes. It is from Bruce Lee surviving script notes. For some reason, Warner Bros. didn’t include it in their domestic release. This is from the European version.
