My father was Vietnam Vet, earned Purple Heart and Bronze star in combat and was paralyzed from waist down from the war. As a kid I always thought it was neat to see him fist pump and sing along when this song played. He passed away 23 years ago and when I hear this song, I now fully understand why he loved this song. RIP Dad, I miss you!

There will always be room for his kind of music. When Born In the USA came out it was the MTV music video age and Bruce Springsteen didn’t quite fit in. I was very young then. But now when I listen to his music I realize how talented he is as a songwriter. His vocabulary is so simple but he is so capable of telling a story with so few words. Plus he is so simple and humble after all that he has accomplished he never forgot his roots and didn’t let fame destroy him…

I remember watching a tribute concert or something on television when my dad heard this song for the very first time. He was a Vietnam veteran who served three voluntary tours in Vietnam. When Bruce Springsteen came on the television, the singing this song my dad started crying so I paused the TV and asked him “dad what’s the matter? What’s wrong? “ Wiping tears from his eyes my father looked over at me and said “I had friends who died at Keh Sahn.” Every time I hear this song I will think of my dad. All I can say is thank you Bruce for your beautiful art. Your poetry is entirely American, one part protest and one part patriotism.

We never bound up the wounds post 1971/3, I'm 68.5 now brother. The pain was glossed over by avarice and greed. Nixon, Watergate, Agnew, and St Ronnie Reegan. And the fatal blow Trump. Defer is the word. Deferment, defer pain, defer debt to another gen, and worse. Bruce is working class. This NJ kid working on a dream took 10 years to incorporate our pain and anquish into this song for the working CLASS like Fogerty did in 1970, they are bookend that draw from young American's dashed dreams and hopes and wishes for that better NEW world that never got here. Paradise lost around a red scare. We paid the price. Bruce instinctively like all working CLASS sons keep this in his heart and soul he never forgot 1965 to 1972. We won't either. I'm 68.5 now. RIP. Fight Trump to the death. He's is our last internal battle.

I've never been a huge fan of Born In The USA, but this version really gets to me! The combination of Bruce's raw energy, his signature howls at the end and the response from the crowd is so powerful. To top it of with 2 minutes with the E Street jamming, along with the crowd singing, it can't get any better!

Hands down this is the Greatest live act in the history of any format of music !.. I'm not talking one 20 minute performance ( Queen Live AID.. and absolutely no disrespect to them.. They were fantastic !) But,Bruce never walked on stage with intent on giving less than EVERYTHING! .. I also believe the same to be true of the late great purple guitar slaying Prince but, Bruce edges him out by catalog and The mighty E Street Band.. That's just my opinion, but Prince or Springsteen = Fact !.. There is no other contenders.. This video is only one thirtieth of that night !!

@@kristashelby4260 I'm not saying those men weren't great performers because they were !.. but, there's only one spot for the very best , if it's not Springsteen, which I think is , then who ?.. it can only be one... There are and have been many great live performers but, Bruce is in a class with no others , not because he's a great singer because he isn't but, he's far from bad ... His voice services his message... What makes him the greatest is obvious if you're ever watched him performer , he simply gives everything and beyond , he plays for 3 to 4 hours , and it's everything on the line the whole time.. I am a huge fan of music , I believe it's one of the most important things on earth.. it's a soundtrack of our life.. .and again those are greats that you mentioned but , if aliens wanted to see our best showman .. I personally say E.T meet BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!

@@platocheforever579 except that it's impossible for any person to be born in the usa, because the usa is like the only country that declared that all people are born free of government and countries. so, saying you are "born in the usa" is a complete lie for everybody, including the singer.
