Drive all night. Prior to my brother starting aggressive chemotherapy treatments, he had received The River box set from his youngest daughter for Christmas '16, a lifetime Springsteen fan, he anxiously awaited my arrival to crack the box. He asked me to open it for him, his hands unsteady from medication. I did so gladly. Going through the box, we got to the song list, he pointed to Drive all night" see this song? He asked. I'm going to dance with Linda to this song at the concert. His adoring wife and protector. We. Already had our tickets for his Toronto stop Feb 2 '16 but he was to start treatment in January. Too sick to attend, he insisted we go without him and enjoy it for him. Needless to say, it was worse than hard to hear Bruce sing the song with more passion than ever before. My Brother passed away May 12 2016 survived by family still struggling with our loss. His memorial bench is marked by the lyrics of this song. And try as I may, tears are shed every time I hear it, for the dance he never got. Love you.

In the mid 80’s I listened to Bruce during my trips on the weekends from Chicago to Wisconsin to see a girl. Sunday nights back roads home, I would pull over in the darkness on a 2 lane highway, pitch black out, open my trailer gate on truck, lay in the back and crank this song, Drive All Night! Now I’m 56, married her, had a Son, divorced 2 more times and Still think of the nights leaving her after a nice weekend! This songs kills me!

The Bruce song that started a life long love affair with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Just a 14 old girl with her copy of 'The River' in her room wondering if this was the real grown up adult life I was hearing about. Blew my mind away then and 116 shows later, his music still blows my mind. Every day is a "Bruce Day" and how lucky are we to live in this man's time? See you further on up the road Bruce!😍

Wow Linda, what a tribute. The River was too much. I wore out the vinyl and one CD set. Still all these years later, nothing has changed, this is incomparable. I've seen exactly one concert, that was 1981 in Zurich. The Swiss went berserk and smashed the place up a bit, everyone was so crazy. This live version of Drive All Night is even better than the album version. If you close your eyes it's still CC playing sax, really great.

It never ceases to amaze me and moves me to read comments from perfect strangers bearing their souls to perfect strangers. I myself have found myself opening up to strangers in ways I thought I could never do. The part that really touches me is the way they are listened to. We open our hearts and embrace them, never do I see anyone being ridiculed or being taken lightly. What I see are perfect strangers offering strength and condolences to other perfect strangers. Must be something in the music we listen to that shapes our heartfelt responses, that allows us to see from the point of view of others. Thanks Bruce for making us better human beings.

Saw the “boss” in Birmingham Al. back in the early 80’s. That was THE best concert I’ve ever been to. When Bruce sang “drive all night” (one my all time fav songs) and Clarence keyed in with his DYNAMIC sax he almost brought me to tears. As much as I always loved Bruce Springsteen I would close my eyes and melt listening to Clarence play his sax. RIP Clarence “Big Man”.

When I take long trips by car, I actually prefer driving at night...far less traffic and much more relaxing. Clears your mind...On a warm summer's night with the window down, this song is sometimes played in a loop for hours... The hours and the long miles just melt away. Alone with just my thoughts on a beautiful clear night, with a warm breeze and this song... I really look forward to those trips.

Few songs can compare to this one when it comes to emotion. Purely raw, soul wrenching, moving, call it however you want. I’m so glad my dad played Springsteen’s music to me when I was younger. I’m 20 and I’m from Spain, so I highly doubt I would’ve found his music nowadays without anyone showing it to me. Sometimes I wish my friends could understand the kinds of things Bruce songs are able make you feel, I simply cannot describe them, but I’m pretty sure all of you guys know what I’m talking about.

When he fills the stage with his heart and soul, I can feel my heart and soul literally ripped from my body. The feeling is inexplicable. The gravel in his voice scrapes every part of my body and leaves me in a pool of blood. I wish Bruce was telling me not to cry now and to come to bed.

Now I m aged 51 and I had the opportunity to buy ga tickets, so I was in the Metlife Stadium August 30 2016 in row 5.. It was an amazing show and setlist. Allthough Bruce did not pick up my sign or played Drive All Night I ended up with my name and photo in The Albany Times. I drove all night to hear Bruce and the E street Band singing and playing at the homeground. A big thing in my life. The day after a travelled to Asbury Park to visit The Stone Pony.. What a holliday and what a great experiance. Watching the youtube video's I still can not believe I was there. 😀

Vicki Jones - Sincere condolences to you and your family. You hang in there girl. My wife's name is Vicki. I never thought I'd get married in 1990 at the age of 26 when I had my near-death motorcycle accident here in New Zealand and ultimately lost my entire left leg as high as the amputation can get i.e. hip and left side of my pelvis amputated site. Lost use of male repro system plus suffered numerous other internal injuries as well. Was ugly and an absolute mess. Was a successful local athlete - road cyclist, triathlete, & marathon runner at the time. In 2 hospitals for 101 days. Left hospital supplied with new prosthesis. Rehab took years...Suffered nerve pain around the stump area ever since (and still have it 30 years on) and I have never known pain like it in all my life - it's controlled via acupuncture, cocktail of meds including the strongest specialist prescribed pain killers, exercise, healthy diet. Just been diagnosed with PTSD. Diagnosed with clinical depression at age 20 - been taking meds ever since. Got lucky and married at age of 42. Never met a more loyal & loving person my wife now of 15 years. Livin the dream in our small townhouse with our pet moggy named 'Ziggy' - yep after David Bowie. Best wishes to you always.
