Official Video for ”Jungleland (Live in New York City)" by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
About:
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s first tour in 10 years ended with an emotional series of 10 concerts at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden. Live In New York City, featuring performances from the last two nights of that tour (chronicled partially in an Emmy Award-winning HBO special), captures “the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, house-rocking, earth-quaking, booty-shaking, love-making, legendary E Street Band” as Bruce and his blood brothers embarked on an exciting new musical chapter together. Now, for the first time, this magical program comes to KZbin in its entirety for fans new and old to experience.

Aaron Rodriquez this is perhaps THE MOST visual song ever written & recorded. I have a vision in mind based on the lyrics and the emotional rise and fall of the music. It’s different than the vision you have, as well as from someone else. To me, that’s what makes this song so damn powerful. I really can’t think of any other song I’ve listened to that can inspire a visual like Jungleland.

To the 430 people who down voted this masterpiece, you all have no clue what great music is. In my opinion, this is quite possibly the best song ever written. I've been listening to Bruce for as long as I've been alive, including in utero. That sax solo is everything that's beautiful in this world, it has always made me cry every time I hear it for as long as I can remember. I'm so grateful I was able to see the Boss live before Big Man died. Hands down, the BEST concert I've ever been to. This entire album is GOLD and has helped me tremendously through the worst breakup of my life. Many thanks to the one and only Boss and the E Street band 😭❤️🙏

I was 20 something when the towers fell and mostly listened to rap music. I knew born in the USA and dancing in the dark but then the rising came out and he performed at the superbowl and my city of ruins was on the fundraising commercials for 9/11 and I liked what I heard so I dove deep and bought the dvds of this concert and I saw live in Barcelona on tv and bought that dvd and was hooked. Then went through a tough break up with a girl I’d been with since high school. Over ten years. Lowest point in my life you can guess where I was. Luckily I had a dvd tv in my car and a big sound system from my rap music. I watched the dvds everywhere I went and along the way Bruce saved my life. It’s a spiritual connection that his music reaches that’s why he’s the best. Best live performer ever. No question. Now I’m 43 with my first child. A 4 and half year old son who is literally my mini me. I’d play Bruce for him when I’d change his diapers. Now close to five he steals my phone every chance he gets and puts on badlands and Atlantic City from this concert. Bruce is the only artist he knows by name and listens to him over and over and mimics his guitar playing and stage performance. Truly spiritual and transcendent. Fills my heart with the most happiness a person can feel. Sorry so long but to truly explain what this man has done for me and the world took a while. All I can say is it’s more than music it is truly a spiritual experience. Thanks to anyone who reads this whole post.

For years my dad and I argued about which was the greatest Springsteen song, him claiming thunder road and me jungleland. And then seeing the tour in 2009, when he was doing one of his classic albums in entirety each show, we in Cleveland got Born to Run. As this song finished my father turned to me, tears in his eyes, and said you’re right, this is his greatest

Never again will I go to a stadium concert and witness the greatest rock and roll show, rock band, getting crazy excited with 60,000 people, everyone seemingly knowing the words to every song, people turning to each other when that one song they think is the best one off them all and just seeing everyone go crazy. "Jungleland" The Rangers had a homecoming In Harlem late last night And the Magic Rat drove his sleek machine Over the Jersey state line Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain The Rat pulls into town rolls up his pants Together they take a stab at romance And disappear down Flamingo Lane Well the Maximum Lawmen run down Flamingo Chasing the Rat and the barefoot girl And the kids round here look just like shadows Always quiet, holding hands From the churches to the jails Tonight all is silence in the world As we take our stand Down in Jungleland The midnight gang's assembled And picked a rendezvous for the night They'll meet 'neath that giant Exxon sign That brings this fair city light Man there's an opera out on the Turnpike There's a ballet being fought out in the alley Until the local cops Cherry Tops Rips this holy night The street's alive As secret debts are paid Contacts made, they vanish unseen Kids flash guitars just like switch-blades Hustling for the record machine The hungry and the hunted Explode into rock'n'roll bands That face off against each other out in the street Down in Jungleland In the parking lot the visionaries Dress in the latest rage Inside the backstreet girls are dancing To the records that the DJ plays Lonely-hearted lovers Struggle in dark corners Desperate as the night moves on Just one look And a whisper, and they're gone Beneath the city two hearts beat Soul engines running through a night so tender In a bedroom locked In whispers of soft refusal And then surrender In the tunnels uptown The Rat's own dream guns him down As shots echo down them hallways in the night No one watches when the ambulance pulls away Or as the girl shuts out the bedroom light Outside the street's on fire In a real death waltz Between what's flesh and what's fantasy And the poets down here Don't write nothing at all They just stand back and let it all be And in the quick of the night They reach for their moment And try to make an honest stand But they wind up wounded Not even dead Tonight in Jungleland

@@brucespringsteen-music I live in Guildford, Surrey, England. 25 miles SW of London. Is this Bruce wriiting here? A couple of anecdotes: a) 4th July, think 1985, Wembley. I had first experienced Live shows that year and so took son aged 6 to the gig. Had to be seats for that reason. You csme out on your own and started talking about Independence. Not USA/UK but from your father and the poor relationship of that time. I turned to my lad and promised him that would never be the case for us and it never has been. We are best mates and have beengoing to concerts all over the world together since, and at the front! b) 2013 Olympic Park London. Daughters also came to this one. One recently married had had tattooed a Bruce lyric I used in Father of the Bride speech. "My Lucky Day". I got her on my shoulders down at the front so you could see tattoo which you acknowledged to all our total excitement. You know what's coming next! You did an impromtu extra encore on your own plus black Takamine of My Lucky Day and dedicated it to my daughter in front of 80000 peopple. She was back on my shoulders by then. (Beyond) thanks from both of us. (On youtube as filmed by misterbee. Whoever he is he was nearby because my daughters' scream are evident). Afterwards various people wanted photos of the tattoo!! Cheers! Julian

Me too man. I'm 23 and I'm not even a classic rock guy and I would go back in time to see the Boss. He's one of those artists you only get once in a lifetime

This song really is a masterpiece. The tension of the piano under everything. The hopelessness of the organ solo that comes in after the Big Man's solo transitoioning to the hopefulness of the piano solo. The shot of Clarence before his solo getting his mind and heart right - and make no mistake, he bled his entire soul into that horn. And the Boss' vocals...man, this song is a masterpiece. And I've seen several commenters mentioning how young Bruce was when he wrote this song. I think Gregg Allman was 19 when he wrote Whipping Post and Dreams - perhaps the Allman's two best known songs. Anyway, I'm really grateful to be rediscovering Bruce as I have. I need to see him live.
