Here's one of my best and least known songs, played only once and recorded at our show in Turku, Finland. We've finally got a beautiful Thom Zimny edit and Bob Clearmountain mix for you. Thanks Nicholas!

Maybe my favorite song from "Tracks". Absolutely love it. Springsteen is truly my favorite singer-songwriter of all-time. Definitely the best of my generation. Long live The Boss.

From the first time my pal Charlie said "Hey, you gotta listen to this", this has been once of my favorite Springsteen songs. Hauntingly beautiful, sad, looking for redemption. One of those tunes you sit at shows hoping he's going to do it. Those lucky Finns.

This is one of the greatest songs Bruce ever wrote (I am not overstating this), and when he heard it for the first time since 1982 when reviewing songs for the "Tracks" box set, he didn't even remember WRITING IT!! That son of a gun! I have been writing songs for years, and I can't come close to this. An amazing, haunting song that fits so well into attachment theory and EFT couples therapy which places a huge emphasis on childhood wounding as being a big factor in the relationship partners that we choose and how we conduct ourselves through the difficulties that every partnership goes through. Only education and communication strategies can make it well, but this couple is tearing each other to bits because they have no idea how to deal with each other. "I tried so hard, so hard in everyway, swear someday I'd grow up, and just throw it all away." YOU NEVER DO. A broken childhood is never fixed, as Bruce later found out thru his own therapy. You only get better at dealing with it. BY understanding it, you get better at explaining to your partner where your emotions and feelings are coming from, and how your partner can assist you without it detracting from their own growth. Then the fights end and the healing begins. That's what true love is about. And that's why this song is so deep and mature.

I like how much Garry W. Tallent is on all those tapes from the recent tour! This Bass sound creates a special vibe, not too much, not too little :). Interesting that you rarely see him in the picture, but he's always there. Love ya, Mr. T.!

Incredible. I am always in awe of your talents. Writing, performing, how you've grown as a singer and can change how we hear you. You changed my life the first time I saw you. I am saving my pennies for as many shows during the next E Street show as possible. Those hours we spend together (along with 20-50,000) people are so precious to me. You have the ability to make all of my problems go away and to put me IN THAT MOMENT. There is no other time I am quite that present. Thank you and I love you, Bruce. I do.

Oh man, was there the second night he played in Turku last summer, this was an amazing performance among many others that evening, was even lucky enough to hear one of my many favourites, racing in the streets (not like it would be too rare to be played by him, but never thought I would get to experience it live). But then again, he also surprised me by doing the " '78 intro" when he played Prove it all night and that friggin' kickass Light of day in Helsinki back in 2012 ;)

Better than any song from BITUSA besides the title cut, Bobby Jean and My Hometown. I don't care how much the record has sold. As Bruce said in Songs, the album is a grab bag collection of tunes he never really dug. It's because his manager forced him to put his most "commercial" songs on the album instead of tunes like this. It was a commercially compromised album that I don't listen to much. I listen to the outtakes. Thank God for CD-R's

Possibly his most underrated song when you consider that The Boss didn't even remember composing it during the insanely prolific "Born In The USA" sessions where he wrote and recorded 100+ songs to completion. Don't like the horns in the arrangement, however. I prefer the studio version. More haunting. This version is also TOO fast.
