Bruce, I actually watched this video a year or two ago but I don't think I commented. So, I wanted to come back and tell you it's become one of my favorite snowblower repair videos. Good repair, good personality, good energy, you even say "excuse me" after coughing which I've always been taught is the polite and professional way of handling yourself. Nice job. Now subscribed.

The You Tube videos have helped me understand what needs to be done and to evaluate if I need to take it in for repair. I feel quite satisfied when I can do it myself. I wish that I had the opportunity to learn about small engines in high school. Now as a retired nurse of 70 yrs. I’m learning a lot of interesting & useful things. There’s nothing like preventive care and “nursing” it back to “health”. Right now I’m wanting to tune up the snowblower. Thanks a lot for taking the time to video these.

Loss my old man O6 & it sit for 2yrs with gas in it & all the seals, fuel lines , was gone . Turns out they quit making the carb with fuel release on the bowl & the seals was eat up on that as well rebuilt the carb with 3 different carbs from my buddies shop .Lol was able to get a new float needle and seat ! Never seen a float fill with fuel but that one did . I have never got it running right ! It sit last year didn't need ! No fuel & it just won't run back to the drawing board unless dump gas down the head & carb is clean ?

It's mid August, I know it's late , but I didn't drain the gas tank in the spring. I cleaned the plug, hit the prime button, pulled the cord and it started right up. Do I have to drain the gas tank? If I start it up once a week till the snow gets here, would that be OK?
@BrucesShop3 жыл бұрын
I myself have to do this. I would start it up regularly. Maybe dilute the gas that is there. I bet is isn't a Honda. They are trickier.
@pert76user7 жыл бұрын
What were you looking for when visually inspecting the gasoline?
@pert76user7 жыл бұрын
Ahh sediment. I see. I wondered if you have a trick for spotting bad gasoline that I don't know about, lol. I have a similar machine and since owning it I've replaced the friction wheel ring, gas line (its old enough the line cracked and leaked fuel) and cleaned the jets to fix surging once and cleaned the entire carburetor to fix a no-start condition. It really keeps me on my toes. I'm just a backyard mechanic so videos like yours are invaluable to me. Many thanks and hello from the Maritimes!

Also colour (Canadian spelling). Older regular gas is a yellow and the newer is almost clear. In the old days gas was almost orange.

I am stumped, I pulled the plug and grounded it on top of the engine and had lots of spark. Then I tried pouring some gas in the spark plug hole as you showed, replaced the plug and hit the starter. No fire! Tried starter fluid, no fire. Checked spark again and it had plenty. I would appreciate any ideas you would share about that.

Remove the muffler to see of the piston is scored. It may have run without oil in the gas.

Hello, I have a snowblower given by a friend that doesn't even try to start when i use the pull string. My friend says it has been used once and never again in 3+ years; never removed the oil and fuel. Cleaned the carburetor and replaced all fluids. I primed it, turned the choke, opened the fuel line (not in order) and i pull to start, but there's no reaction. Just the fans attached to the string seems to be turning. No reaction from the motor. It feels like everything about this snowblower is dead, it's not even making the coughing sound (like when it's freezing out and you try to start your car). The spark plug is clean and has no damage. What could be wrong with it? Thanks
@BrucesShop4 жыл бұрын
Well, take out the spark plug. Dribble some gas into the hole. Replace the spark plug and connect the wire. Make sure everything is turned on. If it runs for a few seconds, That will tell you that the engine will run. If it doean't you have a spark issue.
