I always let my Troy-Bilt run dry at the end of the season and leave the gas cap ajar for two weeks to let all of the gas evaporate. Despite the same, sometimes it doesn't want to start in the autumn. I learned a trick from a small engine mechanic years ago. Try rapidly pushing the primer bulb, while engaging the electric starter. This has worked three times for me. Just take caution not to run the electric starter for more than 5 seconds. They can easily burn out.

Awesome, I am grateful that I watched your video. I, too, had a carburetor issue, sprayed starting fluid in the carb, and then it started right up. The same is true for my generator and log splitter. They are left outside but covered here in NY. Makes you wonder why we buy Covers for these machines.

The gas we get today just breaks down to fast. Can you get ethanol free gas in your area?

If available in your area use non ethanol fuel. Ethanol causes most carburetor problems, especially if you leave it in your carburetor float blow during the off season. I use ethanol free fuel along with Sea Foam in all my outdoor power equipment. Nothing worse than a big snowstorm and your snow blower won't start because of a dirty or clogged carburetor. Some snow blowers are easier to work on than others. The troy built in this video is fairly easy to get at and remove the carburetor. Enjoyed the video. If one needs to see the actual taking apart and cleaning process, there is plenty of how too videos if you do a search of your particular year and model.

Hi I have a Troy bilt snow blower 2410 , 2014 and pull cord is hard to pull out. I took off pull cord and turned engine with socket on bolt it’s a little hard to rotate engine around. Engine pill was not in engine and was leaking out. After replacing o ring I filled engine oil. It’s still hard to turn over with socket on bolt to rotate engine. Would like you opinion on it, thank you.

Hi Angelo. If it was ran without oil then there could be damage to the engine, and that is causing the issue. Hopefully it was not ran without oil. When you rotate the engine does it sound like metal rubbing on metal? One thing you can also try is to remove the spark plug and then rotate the engine. Is it the same or different? If it is easier to rotate the engine with the spark plug out, then the issue could be with the valves. Let me know.

I usually leave my machine empty until needed , Because of this problem . It is a shame that fuel shut offs are not standard equipment on blowers .

I do as well. I have seen a few with a shutoff valve, but you are right most don't.

You said hold the spark plug against the machine. Is that to ground it? Can you get a spark without that?

Right!! I have had a few customers tell me that they like there electric snowblowers, but I have never personally owned one.

You did not show how you clean the carburator. That was the biggest issue.

Ughhhh that sucks. I hate that everything is made so cheap now. The other day I was removing the prime hose and the nipple it connect to on the carburetor broke. I was barely putting pressure on it!
