I unfortunately got a Working on a Dream vibe. Although the repetitive lyrics would not seem out of place as a B-side to Dream Baby Dream. I always look forward to a new Springsteen release but this doesn't have me hooked like the first single off The Rising or Magic. I wait in anticipation to hear the full album.

Bruce Springsteen’s Letter To You is not just a song; it’s a heartfelt letter to fans, a nostalgic journey through decades of music, and a testament to the enduring power of rock ‘n’ roll. As someone whose musical journey began at the tender age of 10 with the purchase of Born to Run, Springsteen has been more than a musician; he’s been a companion through life’s highs and lows, a distant relative whose words and melodies have woven into the fabric of existence. The official video for Letter To You is a poignant visual narrative that complements the song’s emotional depth. It opens with Springsteen in a dimly lit studio, surrounded by his E Street Bandmates, setting a mood that is intimate yet grand in its simplicity. The sepia-toned footage interspersed with vibrant concert scenes captures the essence of Springsteen’s live performances - raw, energetic, and deeply authentic. The song itself is a masterclass in storytelling. Springsteen’s gravelly voice, weathered by years of experience, delivers lyrics that resonate with profound sincerity. As he reflects on life, loss, and the passage of time, there’s a raw honesty that cuts through the music. The haunting refrain, "With this letter to you," becomes a mantra that echoes in the listener’s mind, evoking memories of shared experiences and moments of solitude. Musically, Letter To You is quintessential Springsteen. The E Street Band’s trademark sound - the driving rhythms, Clarence Clemons’ soulful saxophone, and Roy Bittan’s evocative piano - creates a rich tapestry of sound that is both familiar and timeless. The band’s chemistry is palpable, each member contributing to a collective energy that surges through the song, building to a cathartic crescendo. What sets Letter To You apart is its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia while remaining firmly rooted in the present. Springsteen’s lyrics are a reflection on aging and mortality, yet there’s an underlying optimism that shines through. It’s a reminder that despite the passage of time, the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll endures - resilient, defiant, and eternally hopeful. The video’s direction is impeccable, capturing intimate moments of camaraderie among bandmates juxtaposed with electrifying live performances. Each frame tells a story - of friendships forged in music, of shared memories on and off the stage, and of the unbreakable bond between Springsteen and his audience. It’s a visual ode to the power of music to transcend time and connect generations. For anyone whose life has been shaped by Springsteen’s music, Letter To You is a stirring reminder of why his songs resonate so deeply. It’s a celebration of resilience, of the enduring power of rock music to inspire and console. As the video fades out with Springsteen strumming his guitar, bathed in a spotlight, one can’t help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the music that has accompanied us through life’s journey. Letter To You is more than a song or a video; it’s a testament to Bruce Springsteen’s legacy as a storyteller, a poet of the human experience. With its evocative imagery and heartfelt lyrics, this release reaffirms Springsteen’s place as not just a rock icon, but a guiding light whose music continues to resonate with listeners of all ages. It’s a love letter to fans, a tribute to friendship, and a timeless anthem that captures the essence of what it means to live and love through music. www.candiano.com

My brother Eamon sent this to me. He has some developmental disabilities and is down on much in life but never Bruce. Not since we heard him first over 40 yrs ago when he was 12. I believe that Bruce holds him up. Gives his life meaning which is for the most part devoid of it. I thank Bruce for never giving up on himself or his fans. For bringing meaning to my Brothers life and giving him one certainty in his life. That there will be another sing, another album, another "reason to believe" Ibam sure that there are plenty of Eamon's in the world who may not understand the lyrics with much depth but feel the music and passion and love that this man brings to them. He is a Bruce savant and I swear he knows when Bruce is about to drop a new song before Brucr does and he'll tell you so. If it wasn't for Mr Springsteen, I never would've had a connection to my dad. I never would've found a way to bond with him, and never would've had as many laughs with him. My dad and I listened to this while watching football last night... and although I didn't cry at the time, I found myself coming back to the song tonight and crying. Crying because of the lyrics. Knowing that the artist my dad listens to easily the most, became the artist I listened to the most, and then for us to listen to this together made all those childhood and current memories come flooding back. Thank you Bruce, for allowing me to really get to know my father, and continue enjoying the time I have with him.

Lovely comment Denise, I think good music deep music and stories of life and hardships of life, are how music is so so important, and how it heals and makes you feel good or understand something that has passed you by, that you didn't understand, all of a sudden the understanding is right there in the emotion produced by the song the tune the words and how its delivered.. The greatest gift on earth is good music.

Reading through the comments, like so many others, I hadn't realized how much I needed this. Surprised also by the fact that I can even still feel what this song triggers. There are all different types of music, all different types of songwriters, but only Bruce Springsteen could bring this particular thing into the world. And yeah, the band, I think the spirit of Danny and Clarence were smiling in on this. Listening, got chills, and started crying, surprised by that too, like rocks skipping, leaving images of people lost over the years, the touchstone of the different songs over the years, stages of life, and yet it all comes to life again, that same feeling as seeing the band, 1975, Born to Run tour in Portland. Springsteen, an American living treasure, some music just stands somewhere outside of time, and death.

@Bob Macca 100 easily, Springsteen is a fantastic performer on stage, but his creativity pretty much stopped with The Rising. I have been a die hard fan like others here for years before realising the truth. He is the first admitting he is just a great imitator of others, probably the best in the world. Just go look at Jimmy Durante's mimic when he's on stage or Thin Lizzy's music.

Evertime that I hear a new Springsteen song, I think of all the great bands that just stop making new music. Sure they tour and rehash their old material, but they stop making new music. Bruce is amazing. He just keeps going and going, adding to his already enormous catalog of songs. That's just one the things that make him perhaps the greatest storyteller, entertainer, and rock and roller of all time.
@cdgs77934 жыл бұрын
It's therapeutic for Bruce to write about what's in his head and turn it into beautiful songs. Clarence is in his dreams regularly, so Bruce wrote two songs about death, to the ppl whom aren't here anymore. Then, it's out of his head. I do the same, write it off of me. Only I can't make a song out of it. It helps. That's why all of Bruce's songs are touching our hearts, it comes straight from his heart and it's something we all feel deep inside.

Damn, as a musician, I often struggle with the business side of things and a thousand other things that make this journey a difficult one. But I always think about the fact that passion prevails and that no matter what, music will always be with me no matter where I go. And here, now, in one click... I got projected backwards with this song, when I started out more than 15 years ago, thinking how incredibly humbling to hear such amazing passion, fire, in a man's voice after going through so many battles. You just can feel it. There is so much life in this song and performance... lately I've really missed that. These are difficult times everyone, but we'll know better days I'm sure. I don't always think that actually, there are a lot of days where I think the world's gone to sh*t. But whenever that thought will cross my mind, I'll listen to the Boss to prove me otherwise. Thanks Bruce!

To me, Bruce is and always will be the white boss of rock! But the African-American boss from the 60's was Jimi Hendrix and the African-Russian-American boss of Rock is the sexy, beautiful, talented (who plays most of the instruments while recording his albums : bass, keyboards, drums and guitars) and also too much underrated Lenny Kravitz!

Hey vitordragon, we must be on the same wavelength. A month ago or so I wrote a song called "This Song Is A Letter To My Friends". Bruce has 400,000 views for this letter song (so far) on the first day. I have about 30 or so in one month. Most people who've heard my new song say they like it. It's real basic with just guitar and voice. I don't have any promoters except for myself, so I hope you'll give my song a listen. It's kind of like an exchange of letters!! Letters are old-fashioned. Who writes letters nowadays? It's a generational thing. Well, thanks to anyone who reads this. Go to my channel to hear my letter song. It's a hip new trend!!

I used to buy every new album which was released starting from Born in the U.S.A.in 1984. Your music was always with me, with my rising kids, in my home. I have watched most of your concerts several times. I have been listening to and singing your songs over and over. My students have been practicing English singing and telling stories based on your lyrics. I have watched your interviews and have been very proud of your friendship with president's Obama family. Your music has helped me to through my life. Thank you very much for that. My latest favorite is 'Letter To You,' the best-sounding album you have made since the 1980s. Sir. You are simply the best. In November I had an operation and complications meant I nearly kicked the bucket twice. I am home, my family is amazing but you, yes you, have made me know there is still something worth living for. My darling girls have their letters. Thank you for being a true soul. Keep safe sir, you, and yours mean so much to so many. Your music is life to many.

I just realized it has been 40 years since I became a Bruce Springsteen fan. (I was fifteen. Where did the time go?) If I had a single wish in this world it would that Bruce and the E Street Band play live again next summer-maybe outdoors somewhere-and I can take my teenage son with me. He has never seen him live and I would so love for him to experience the sheer joy and energy of one of Bruce’s concerts. (I discovered my son has a bunch of Bruce’s music on his playlist but never told me, didn’t want to admit that his musical taste was influenced by his mother, I guess!)

Laurie we have a lot in common. I was 13 when I heard Hungry Heart and I immediately KNEW. I brought my son Joshua Bruce to a show many moons ago, that converted him over to our side. Bruce continually impresses me, surprises and thrills me. My admiration for him grows exponentially over time. I told my son Joshua Bruce that if I were to name him today, I would just go for it and name him Bruce Bruce ;)

Similar - albeit it more embarrassing - story here. My sister gave me "The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle" for Christmas in 1975. Doubting her older, "square" taste, I put it aside with a "Gee, thanks". She was home again in the summer of '76, and I said, "Hey, what's that?" about the music she had on. "So - you haven't opened your Christmas present yet?", she asked slyly. I was 15 then (she'd have been 17 at Christmas, 18 by summer) - and while I liked all the songs, the one that really wowed me was "4th of July, Asbury Park" (aka "Sandy"). A bit embarrassing to be caught not having tried it - but the compensation (even if months later) was discovering I already *had* an album I loved ! I'll turn 60 this year (knock wood), and that "age-difference" between my sister & I has long vanished. I have treasured (and been uplifted by) Mr Springsteen through all the years since. "Sandy" still has a special place in my heart (not least since once far ago, "that waitress I was seeing lost her desire for me"). BTW, apologies if it dated me to say "album" (hell, I can remember actually "dialing" a phone!) - but there was a time I had "E Street Shuffle" on LP (thanks, sis), cassette & CD, all at the same time. Cheers to you, Ms Gough - and best wishes to your son. Never forget, Laurie... the aurora is rising behind us.

Bruce is so poetic, whether writing a book or an all-enduring song. Thanks, Bruce, for your honesty about your life and your observations about America. I’m with you!

Merci"S" Monsieur pour ce moment musical, ce morceau m'évoque la nostalgie des absents et l'absolue nécessité d'abuser des présents... trop heureuse de vous entendre
