When i drove i had a long nose Pete went to the Volvo VN 610 back in 1998 when they were brand new. It was like going from an antique to a space ship. Especially in the city traffic and extreme cold weather. My Pete would have ice build up on the Clutch pedal where it went thru the floor. You would use an ice scrapper on the inside windshield in minus 40C just to see out of it. As soon as my company bought the Volvos there was lots of pushback but i loved them. So much more comfortable and warm and quiet. Would drive in my shorts and slippers and a tee-shirt in minus 40 across Canada. Back then i think it had the 12 speed fully synchronized transmission, with the air assist shift and air assist clutch. It was a dream to drive and maneuver around tight spaces.

@@blafoobar9997 Yeah, as if it's anything special. Idk that much about US trucks, but it's very normal in Europe. Maybe you wouldn't have a button for it, but a pedal like in the Volvo I drove, but it's pretty much the same.
@silentepsilon88821 сағат бұрын
I noticed that too, but that is how marketing works. In two weeks the people Bruce spoke with will not remember things like horsepower, torque, tank capacity etc, but they will always remember the coffeemaker. And whenever they talk to someone else about the truck I bet many will mention the coffeemaker to them which they in turn will remember as well, etc. So just like the 'can you hear me now' slogan is still known for cell phone service, this 'coffeemaker' could become the 'thing' to remember Scania for.

If you stand outside the cab, on the left seat on driver seat you have a switch. TURN ON AIR in the seat by pushing top side. You can damp it really hard with the levers to get the feeling you sitting on the suspensions bump stops. Seen 10+ videos from this truck, you never activate the air. //Real Scania trucker from Sweden
@Necronomous2 сағат бұрын
New Volvo you can't get rid of the air in the seat at all so I prefer driving a Scania where you can take the air completely away. Even for long way roadtrip I doesn't use the air in the seat. I can feel the truck better and it is more comfy for me then sitting jumping up and down in a seat all the day.

The lovely guy with the white hat getting in the Scania. His initial look around the cab is exactly how I look around a truck that I don’t know and try and view things I’ve never seen before. Interesting chat on the clutch as he is a manual driver and his thoughts on the great view from it. I’m a Scottish trucker that usually drives an older style MAN. Sometimes my company swap me to a newer Scania. I love it. Would love it if at these truck shows the American drivers could take this truck for a small drive around the showground. Just one thing about the the gearbox and shifting. When you shift/switch to forward, the works like a paddle. You swing up the paddle, shift goes up by one, You swing down it goes 1 shift down. if you play with it enough the gearbox will learn when to shift down or up. On the paddle there is a switch that you can push to make it paddle manual or automatic. You can also use the paddle on automatic if you think/see on the board that there is enough revolutions on the tacho. This is important for You to tell and for the future potential drivers in US. I am writing this since You have not said so in previous videos or this one. I am on 8,35. Have fun with this beast.

Just a tip for audio, use the small mics for recording voice audio but then also have or use a large mic (I'd suggest RODE) ontop of the camera for capturing general audio that isnt you or other people talking. It should generally end with better audio in videos for when you're a distance away from trucks for example the large mic will capture that very well compared to the sort of compressed sound that the smaller mic captures. Great video there, and I look forwards to more scania stuff!

Hi Bruce, i'm from Tio Pujio, Córdoba, Argentina, and in Argentina, Scania is one of the leading truck companies. I have a transport company where I carry out general and refrigerated loads, and one truck that I have is a Scania that is already old but it is the one in which I learned to drive, it is a Scania R113H 320, a legendary truck on our routes. A question, is the arrangement of 10 holes between the Scania and another American truck the same? Because if I remember correctly, I think that the Americans use smaller wheel centers. A big hug.
