I had a 5EAT go bad in this 2008 LL Bean so we decided to replace. I do not have access to a lift or a transmission jack but we still made it work. This process should be very similar to the 4EAT cars with only minor differences.

Just wana say thanks for this video! I'm now finishing up my transmission swap on my 02 Forester. Your time and effort making this video allowed me to save about $1200. Luckily I have an A-Frame crane to lower it down, but my God are those 3 inch alignment pins on the bottom necessary! So hard to wiggle it out of there. And yeah that little rubber cap housing broke trying to separate the Trans from the engine lol. Those were the only hang ups. So grateful to have a drivable car again being tight on money sucks but having tools and guys like you making these videos is a life saver!

Great video! I’ve got a 2003 2.5 auto and when I go from park to reverse (when cold) I get a pretty substantial clunk that you can feel. Shifts good, drives good, sometimes you get a clunk feel when letting on and off the gas (not braking) while driving around town. Is this a sign of a failing transmission, or bad driveline bearing/components?

@bruceyyyyy Жыл бұрын
It was the same number of bolts coming off as going back in.
@mral44496 ай бұрын
When you pulled the strut to spindle bolts, you forgot to mark the position of the top bolt. Important to mark that bolt position. It's a cam bolt and sets the camber. Should be put back in same position it was removed. Also much easier to hold the bolt side and drive the nut off first and tap the bolts out.

It's a good method. I prefer marking the camber bolt to hold the allignment but this one was getting one anyway as part of a restoration build.
