Most gorgeous performance I've ever heard of this. Such gorgeous phrasing, sensitivity, tone, vibrato

Alena Baeva’s performance is brilliant. Her violin sings with warmth and passion, perfectly capturing the folk-inspired melodies of the piece. Baeva’s technical precision, combined with her emotional depth, brings out both the lyrical beauty and the fiery intensity of Bruch's composition. Noam Zur’s conducting complements her interpretation, guiding the orchestra to support the soloist with sensitivity and balance. Together, they deliver a rich and engaging performance that highlights the vibrant spirit of this fantastic work.

Yes, there is sone strange echo coming from somewhere. One gets the impression that there is some live digital processing going on. ps: I do actually like the balance between soloist and orchestra.

yes wonderful. Although they miss all the scottish feeling of the tunes . You feel the viollin should be witty and catchy elaboration on a scottish counter point of airs and tunes - instead they turn into into something a bit wagnerian. But then Israel is a long way from Scotland ,maybe even bruch was though i am not sure about that. to be more scottish I guess you make the scottish airs and tunes much more matter of fact, you do away with all the ralentando and romantic gestures as much as possible , you don't fill all the long violin notes with plush carpet of sound , more ictus only wherever you can , less vibrato, think of haggis and bagpipes while playing every note( if you can). Och aye me snake haired lassie , thou art too earnest by far, and ya dinnah ken the ways of the glen Theres nae doot aboot it. I don't like comparison - but nicola bennedeti and the scottish youth orchestra do manage to make it wound much more scottish
@ericdew20214 жыл бұрын
I hear what you're saying. She's playing the notes, but doesn't have the Scottish inflection. I listened to Itzhak Perlman's rendition last night and he hit the lilts just right, giving it the effervescent Scottish feeling.
