Looks like the Bruins are actually playing with more second efforts, more grit...looks like they wanna win for a change. Didn't see any heads going down after the 2 early goals by Calgary. Nice to see...Wanna see more. Now they know WE know how much better they can be. More 50 ish minute games please. Go BRUINS.

I said before the trip began that 6 points would be great...I am aware that the way the first 2 games unraveled it doesn't say much, but coming home with 6 points is a step in the right direction for now...lets end December with 8 of 10 points (4 games against Washington and Columbus and one against the Sabres).

Hoping for at least 1 point on Thursday in Edmonton, that is 5/10 available points on the western road trip. A win in my opinion.

Here's why Bruins fans should be happy... After the terrible execution and effort they put throughout the first six weeks of the season, the Bruins are finally playing up to their talent level The Bruins talent was always till better than bottom 8 teams in the Eastern Conference as well as the bottom 8 teams out in the Western Conference That's why all their crap games versus those league dumpster fires earlier in the year was so frustrating It wasn't about "talent,' instead it was all about the Bruins lack of effort and execution under Montgomery Also, look at the teams is East seeds 8-16: OTT MTL DET BUF PIT NYI PHI NYR CBL All 9 of those teams stink and one of them is still going to make the playoffs Which 100% means Boston will either likely finish 3rd in the division or they'll be the first wild card (#7). The Bruins talent level and how putrid all of the other teams behind them in the EAST (minus Tampa Bay) all scream the Bruins are going to easily make the playoffs Here's why Bruins fans need to reel it in despite going 7-3 in their last 10 games.... Here's who they beat on their latest 7-3 runL NYI MTL DET CHI PHI CGY VAN Here's who they lost to Dreadful PIT, SEA & WPG So, they beat one playoff team (VAN) and lost one playoff team (WPG) They beat one borderline playoff team (CGY) and lost to one borderline playoff team (SEA) 4 of the 6 wins were against teams that won't make the playoffs and 2 more (SEA/CGY) were against .500 teams That's who the Bruins are at their ceiling. Their talent says that they still should play .650 or above vs the NHL's .500 or below teams Their talent level also says that they likely will still play .500 or below vs. the NHL's playoff caliber teams Thus it's great that the Bruins are playing to their talent level consistently now. However, the Bruins are about to get surpassed by Tampa who has four games in hand, is only one point back and who has score 30+ more goals than Boston has. Tampa is also a very good plus 32 while Boston is a craptastic minus 18 in terms of goal differential Boston also still has one on the NHL's worst power plays and the penalty killing has just worked itself back to average Thus, unless their is an injection of talent via trades, the Bruins will likely still be one of the worst 5x5 teams in the NHL in terms of scoring because they lack, um, scoring talent Proof? The Bruins 5x5 HDCFs metrics are really good The Bruins scoring at 5x5, however is dreadful That was also the case last year. This means that even when their effort and execution are good, their low talent level at forward is still going to be a problem, especially versus the NHL's good teams as the Bruins are still bottom 10 in just about every meaningful scoring 5x5 metric and that's not likely going to change much unless trades bring in more forward talent What can change? The Bruins can get better defensively in front of Swayman, Swayman can play much better and their special teams should improve a bit as well And again, that will see the Bruins easily make the playoffs, where unless they play Toronto again, they'll more than likely going to get their teeth kicked in again by one the NHL's good teams who can score in bunches in ways they can't, even when their effort and execution are good It is what it is but at least the Bruins aren't this dumpster fire they were trending towards being this year That's a win The bad news? The Bruins are still likely nothing more the same one and done playoff team that they've been under Don Sweeney all ten years of tenure as GM going back to 2015 Awesome?
