Great stuff. I've used the trangia mini for years to cook my lunch when I'm out working. And I use use the 27 when I go cycle touring simply because I have to eat more. Love your videos. Its great to be outdoors.

I do like my Trangia Mini very much and feel encouraged that you also have an enthusiastic flame. I have a DIY tin foil windscreen that I use more to keep the flames contained after an exciting mini bonfire I had once. I enjoy seeing how you use the simmer ring. Thanks so much for sharing.
@RedswedeOutdoors

I think that the "problem" with the flame on the Mini is that the burner is more compatible with the Trangia 25 & 27, it's to much for the Mini. Thankfully it's not to complicated to work around once you realize the problem. A DIY screen is a very good idea, ultra light, cheap as chips and packs away to nothing when not in use. Cheers!

Yet another superb demonstration of the use of the Trangia mini - we have found it far more versatile than it at first appears.....as you rightly say, practice perfects the techniques. Thank you for sharing your time....stay well, stay safe, Helen & Terri with Robyn.

Thank you guys! I can see a limitation with the simmer ring right now since it's too rigid to make small adjustments easy, maybe check out an old one to see if it simplifies things or just loosening up the current one. Take care, Cheers!

In the PNW to be exact 15 miles south of the Canadian boarder we are also in a drought. Seattle is about 2 hours south of me in the North Cascades and ever one thinks we have rain all the time. This in my youth was true,we always said after 4th of July our Independence Day Summer began as it rained often on said holiday. Last 5-10 year it has changed dryer and dryer,western red cedars are becoming like sponges inside and the trees die. Rivers are running low here also. We are already experiencing wild fire smoke from Canadian wildfires and we also have a burn ban. Thank you for sharing.
@RedswedeOutdoors

That is rough. We have record heat combined with lack of rain. Last time we had similar conditions in Sweden we had to get help from our neighbouring countries to limit the wild fires, so yes, I'm a bit worried. Cheers!

You have inspired me to get my TM out and have another play, though I will say the absence of a windscreen is a bit of an oversight. I was pleased to see that you didn't over cook those eggs too. I was waiting for the last gasp that aeropresses give but didn't hear it - they are a clever bit of kit and save a lot of cleaning. Dry here too but I refuse to wish for rain because when it comes there will be no end to it.

Yep, I bring my small windscreen but haven't used it yet, (though I probably should have on the first test). For now I struggle a bit with getting the heat right, I think I fiddled with the simmer ring 5 or six times of camera to get the flame right, takes some time to get used to a new system. See you around Steve!

Yeah Tanya, I loved it too until it got lost on my last vacation, so I guess I have to go back to NZ to get a new one. (though there are lots of other reasons to return besides that) I even brought the Aeropress to NZ since I was afraid that I would only get instant coffee. Little did I know that it was so easy to get good coffee so it was totally uncalled for. Good luck with your challenge. Cheers!

👍👍👍 .. nice .. yummy 😋. Yep, it looks pretty dry there by you. Here in Canton Aargau, Northern Switzerland, up against the Rhine, regarding fire bans, we are still in the 'green'. However, looking at the projected weather forecast (dry and hot) and actions already taken by Cantons to the West and South, I can foresee that changing. No problem though. Depending on the fire ban level (Yellow - Orange - Red), we move over to approved grilling areas in the forests, alcohol, gas, the river bank, recreational parks and in 'extremis modus' (Red, Red, Red 😱 .. no relation to yourself 😁).. my 3rd floor flat balcony. From there, I can still see a section of the river flowing past, some 200m away and cook up a storm .. even using compressed charcoal briquettes, if I'm feeling particularly 'roguish' 😏. Agree, eggs don't like the heat. I just remove mine temporarily from the burner and use a wooden spatula to keep the mini-pan surface 'stuff-stuck-on' free and give it time to cool down a bit. A wet 'jammer lappie' (sorry cloth) always kept close by .. extremely handy for the wiping of hands and utensils, handling hot items, cooling down burners, etc .. and placing the mini pan thereon to cool down, while setting the burner simmer ring down to a lower heat, is an integral part of my cook kit. I'm home-alone today and babysitting the little malti-poo. She loves her forest walks (2x daily), but doesn't do too well around a fire when on a leash. This time of year, due to the new-borns in the forests, all dogs have to be on a leash when therein. Thus, we (her and I .. she lies next to me on the balcony settee and 'supervises') will settle for a later 'brunch' on said balcony, following your example, using the Trangia Mini 😊. Thanks for sharing and until next time .. take care ..

Hello, love your videos. I'm from the US I was wanting to know if you have a recipe for bangers. Nothing fancy just a basic recipe. I've never had one and I really want to try them. Thanks
@RedswedeOutdoors
@RedswedeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Well it depends... I'm not an englishman so my understanding of this can be way off but as far as I know bangers could be just about any flavoured sausage. But in fact I have done a video with bangers and mash that you could check out. It's a bit simplified to fit the camp kitchen but I don't think it's to far from the target. Cheers Rick! kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3XRoXZvot2aeac

Very inefficent. You use 99% of the pack to carry a cookit and food. You woud die in the woods in a shtf situation.
@RedswedeOutdoors
@RedswedeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Well I guess we'll have to disgree on that. Since my purpose was to shoot a video about cooking using my smallest backpack I think I spent my pack ratio well. If one is interested in videos on how to pack for a SHTF situation there won't be much value on my channel. 'The gray bearded green beret' have made some excellent videos on that on similar subjects and there are plenty more channels like his. On a side note, if there truly came a SHTF situation I wouldn't be in the woods, I would be at my work in the hospital where I, depending on the circumstances, would work double shifts or be one of the first fatalities since hospitals is becoming an increasingly popular main target. So the need for a bug out bag is null and void for me. Cheers!
