The kalua pig, pickled onion and the Loco moco look so good. Your husband and mom did a terrific job, they hit out of the ball park. Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate and enjoy watching you folks cook. The Kaneohe kid living in Texas, lol. Bless you and your ohana

Aloha Cari and Family. Even though I don't eat beef or pork, I did enjoy watching a wonderful video on cooking at home w/family. I always watch your videos w/my 90 yr old Mom, who has vascular dementia but whenever she watches your videos, it reminds her of her childhood when she would cook with her parents and 4 siblings (it really puts a smile upon her face). Mahalo for another terrific vlog!

Lovely episode! Seeing your ohana at brunch and enjoying a meal is always a highlight of your vlogs. Loco Moco is a nostalgic fave and continues to be something I enjoy while in Hawaii...I know it's not the healthiest food, but it certainly is satisfying and brings me back to childhood.✨🌺✨

Regarding the topic of travel...pleased that it was mentioned, along with your plans. Seeing you and your family exploring a new location would be good fun. Your nieces and nephew are growing so quickly, and hearing their travel wish lists was a nice touch. Travel is - and has been - an important part of my life (and became a big part of my career, pre-Covid times). Before my father retired from the Navy, we were fortunate to be stationed in Japan and Hawaii, among others. Each place is special to me and holds memories of people, culture - and food. Like most who reside on the mainland who have lived in or have visited Hawaii, returning to the islands for a visit ranks high on the travel wish list. However, vacation to Oahu is temporarily on the backburner until the the Delta variant, rental car shortage and other factors are no longer an issue. Hubby and I are discussing alternate plans for a trip to Europe, possibly for next year (hopefully Covid restrictions will no longer be an issue). We recently took a short trip to Southern California, to the Orange County area, and even spent a fun-filled day at Disneyland. As far as other travel plans for this year: TBD. Before year end, I plan to visit my parents, who live in Florida.✨🌺✨

Thank you!! Yes, definitely not the most healthy food... but once in awhile it's delicious! Thank you for always commenting and sharing with me your thoughts. I appreciate it.

Europe sounds great! It's awesome that you were recently able to go to Disneyland! Is it still open to only California residents? Reid is a huge Disney fan so we can wait to go back! Hopefully you can make it to Hawaii soon!
@island_girl72933 жыл бұрын
@@Caritaira Thank you for your replies! Disneyland opened to non-California residents last month. Before you decide to visit, please check the dates on their site and make reservations for the park before purchasing tickets. I highly recommend making dining reservation in advance, especially for a large party. When we were there, indoor dining was not available and many restaurants were closed. At this point, the above rules haven't changed (hopefully they won't) if and when you make a trip.✨🌺✨

Yum, food looks awesome! My wife also makes hamburger that way. Thx for answering my question. Best thing about travel besides seeing the sights is trying new food. Would love to go to Japan one day. Got a trip set for Vegas coming up. Hope to make it to Hawaii again soon.

No problem! Thank you for asking! Vegas sounds fun. Make sure to stay safe when you go! But I agree… best thing about traveling is the food. Can’t wait to do that!

Just went back home to the Big Island with my husband and boys. It was their first trip ever to Hawaii and a bit overdue. Went back to Laupahoehoe to see where I grew up. Took them up to the school and down to Laupahoehoe Point. Ate at Cafe 100 one morning for breakfast. Sorry to say we didn't get Loco Moco but will be using the recipes you shared!

Hello for the gravy, I’m in need of clarification. I know on video, recipewas doubled but the written one is single serving. For soy sauce and worcheshire sauce, video says Tablespoons, but written recipe says teaspoon. Which form of measurement for those two sauces? Also when do we add the diced onions to the gravy? Is it in the gravy or a raw onion topping? Hope to hear back soon 🙏
@Caritaira2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I just watched the video back... and I can see why its confusing! lol. Sorry about that! I think my husband just used the same spoon for all the measurements... so I would go with teaspoons... and you can always add more of something if you want the taste stronger. Also, I prefer soft onions so I would add them to the pan with the beef broth. But if you like them more crunchy, feel free to add them later.

@@Caritaira lol I couldn’t wait so I made last night with today suggestions. I did use tsp and added onion slices while gravy was simmering. I used slices so if fam didn’t like to bite on it, they can remove but still impart a slight flavor. This gravy is now in my arsenal. Yummy. Ps btw do you have a malasada recipe? I’ve domes few on YT but not to my liking.
