With the original Mindset being a strong and early rolling ball for the heaviest oil, the Perfect Mindset comes along with HK22 to make this more of a versatile, all-purpose ball in the line! Let's see how it does on the lane!
With the help of SPECTO data, it'll help tell the story about reaction shape, overall hook and continuation through the pins. Here are the SPECTO data points used and definition of each term:
Launch Speed - Speed measured off the hand.
Entry Speed - Speed measured at the pins. (What you'd see on your home center MPH screens)
Rev Rate - Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
Launch Angle - The angle the ball traveled the first 10 feet.
Break Point Position - Board at which the ball was at its outermost position.
Total Hook - Total number of boards the ball crosses on the way to the pins.
Hook Power - Number of boards the ball hooked based on the True Breakpoint.
Entry Angle - The angle of the ball between 51 and 55 feet.
Impact Angle - The angle of the ball between 57 and 59.5 feet.
Pin Deck Exit - Ball position at the end of the pin deck.

I believe the HK-22 cover makes this ball more effective. The Mindset core makes the ball heavy rolling, and with a different cover it might be inclined to roll forward when done flaring, but this ball continues through the pins and the cover stock appears to be the difference. You are right, guys who are speed dominant will probably love this ball. They'll be able to play a large part of the lane and still carry. Great review. Thanks.

This one is the single ball I am most excited about. My OG Mindset is my fave out of the 25 balls I own between all brands at the moment. HK22 and hybrid? Yes please!

Somehow I knew Brunswick would eventually put HK22 on the Mindset. And here we are. From what I’ve seen, HK22 will be featured on most hybrid and pearl bowling balls under the Brands of Brunswick.

Hey Nick, just a suggestion here. Could you do a video explaining zones? I have a general idea but can’t find anything explaining it. maybe on the podcast or a radical rundown. Thank you 🙏🏽

At 5:45 you said I think this is a good zone for the ball. How many zones are there? What balls work best in which zone? How can I tell when it’s time to move zones? I have somewhat of an idea but it’s never been fully explained to me. I commented you because you have a great way of explaining things in detail.

Curious how this and the Infinity compare. Infinity core seems a touch weaker and more continuous, but the cover formulation and surface might be stronger and smoother. Depends on how the Evo hybrid additive package in the HK base compares to the AXH one in the more traditional base. Trying to decide between the two.

Nick, May be unanswerable question here without seeing the bowler. However, a teammate is 1 night a week leaguer rolling my old hand me down Brunswick C system ulti Max. For a typical house shot, maybe 40 ft medium oil what might you recommend ? There are so many balls out there, esp with 2024 being released soon. The pro shop put another teammate in the Hustle RIP . Thanks

I mean take your pick. Tons of options. A good all purpose ball I would suggest Track Theorem or Brunswick Ethos. There’s one asym and one sym that’ll be good on everything.

I'm a speed dominate bowler, usually throwing pretty straight. I'm between the Perfect Mindset and the Archetype. The lanes i bowl on are pretty heavy and i'm looking for something that will come in early and hard. Would you be able to make a suggestion?
@brunsnick

Archetype is definitely more aggressive, so for speed dominant that is what I’d recommend.

Will this ball be suitable for a short pin layout? Considering a brutal collision, infinity, solid mindset or perfect mindset to replace my old short pin trident

Should be okay, you just don’t want the ball to be too slow with that layout.

Slightly random comparison question - how would you say this relates to the Infinity? At least to my eye, seems like they're in somewhat similar traction zones at box surface with the Infinity being a bit more rounded on friction versus the PM setting up and rolling forward a bit more. Think that's close?

This would be fairly similar, just a little smoother. Might be too close to have both in the bag unless you changed surface on one.

Hello, looking to add a 1st ball out of the bag for a fresh, fairly heavy oil THS. Currently my 1st ball out the bag is a Defender Hybrid. Would this ball be a bit stronger and a good compliment? Or would they be a bit too similar?

@@stevecemprola9846 I mean it’s pretty asym heavy Arsenal but if you’re high speed I’m fine with it. I really like High Speed from C300 too, fits between with a little more angular motion than Perfect Mindset. Or you could go tried and true Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid.
